      Madagascar, Southeast Africa (1977-2018) Terrain
      December 13th, 2017 (1st Release)
      by Menrva

      >For Strike Fighters 2: Europe, Recommended Full-5 Merged
This is a complete remake of the AE terrain made by Deuces and Dave, further tweaked by Wrench.
The entire map has been retargetized and extensively retiled; Mozambique is now a lush green jungle, not a barren desert as seen in the original. The Comoros and Mayotte islands now properly exist and are carefully populated by towns and airports. Numerous target areas have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range.
This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look.
The terrain spans from May 30, 1977 (the beginning of the Mozambican Civil War) to December 31, 2018. Despite the given time frame, this terrain is not right for reproducing the Mozambican Civil War. Instead, the terrain is meant to pit the French Navy against the combined forces of Mozambique and Madagascar in a what if scenario where the Comoros and Mayotte islands are being threatened by the two Soviet-aligned countries.
The French (Blue Side) only have four flyable airfields. Don't even try to fly Blue Side long-range bombers from said small airfields; I am providing a rather realistic representation of the area, where the French are tasked with the defence and patrol of the skies above the Comoros and Mayotte islands.
Having SF2NA is a must, as I have enabled naval ops. If your mod's folder contains French ships and carriers, you'll see fleets being generated during single missions.
Ground Objects are not included. It's up to the user to find and obtain anything that can be useful for the proposed terrain's scenario.

      >Credits (in no particular order):
-Deuces and Dave, who had the idea of recreating such a gorgeous environment in the Strike Fighters world.
-Wrench, who kindly allowed me to improve upon his work by giving me a blank cheque and trusting my capabilities. Thank you, sir!
-swambast, who provided me with invaluable help in tracking and fixing common and uncommon bugs.
-gerwin, whose TFDtool has proved to be essential in today's terrain making. If the terrain is pretty accurate to RL it's also because of him. I included his very nice Airfield 7+8 Addon Pack, too.
-mue, for the improved shaders he made, which I have included and reworked for the terrain, and for the tools he made for SF2 modding.
-luk1978, for the waternormal bitmap he shared at the SF2 screenshots thread. Your mods are very interesting!
-MigBuster, I have included some of his great hi-res textures for runways.
-Stary, for the old .TOD mod which adds trees on this terrain's tileset.
-Gepard, for his great tutorials about terrain making, in the SF1 Knowledge Base at CombatACE. It's a gold mine!
-tiopilotos and Stratos, who supported me during the terrain's development. Thank you, guys!
-krfrge, who has produced a tutorial for recreating SF2-like planning maps, which prompted me to work on templates and my own high quality planning maps. Thank you very much!
-comrpnt, for his Approach and Airfield Lighting Pack mod packages for SF1 series, which I reworked and included.
Because the original terrain was born from Deuces and Dave, and was later tweaked by Wrench, I included the ReadMe files from the original packages, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not.

    2. South China Sea 250m v 0.1 BETA

      ===================================================================
      South China Sea 250m v 0.1 BETA                December 2017
      ===================================================================
This is a work-in-progress (BETA project) developed as a stand-alone for a merged Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam and North Atlantic.
Included are 2x 7z files; Project South China Sea-pt1.7z (contains the menu and objects) and Project South China Sea-pt2 (contains the terrain).
This project has been underway for over two years and started as a Strike Fighters Project One terrain add-on. Initially I used a standard resolution terrain but thanks to Stary's terrain tests I have managed to develop this terrain at the 250m scale. Not all locations are accurate due to game engine limitations.
This terrain is massive and covers an area 3000x3000km. Currently there are 511 tiles, which is a byproduct of building custom local/islands tiles for the region. I am not able to build all islands due to game engine limitations. Some Island tiles are very simplistic while others are pulled from Wikimapia and reworked.
Due to the large area coupled with 250m resolution you will need a strong system to run the game.
Please send me feedback if you find issues with the terrain.
      ===================================================================
      REQUIRED for this terrain.
      1. A merged copy of SF2V and SF2NA.
      2. Terrain: Stary's Green Hell 3.5
You sir are truly a master!
My customized special tiles compliment Stary's work.
These include additional terrain, river, stream, mountain and Island tiles (some fictional).
      ===================================================================
      Optional
I used a lot of helicopters for this project (AH-1 series, AH/OH-6, CH-47, CH/HH-53, UH-1, UH-60).  If you have Yakarov79's AH-1F, I added an Australian skin to the basic AH-1F model.  Yakarow79 was gracious enough to provide 2x regional specific cobras; AH-1J_PinoyCobra & AH-1J_TOW_PinoyCobra.  Jarek thank you for taking the time to customize these cobra's for the South China Sea project!

The OV-10D - I took the OV-10 and modified the DATA.INI into an OV-10D NODS platform. I know the Philippine Air Force is still using the OV-10 airframe. Its not perfect but it is the best I can do currently. All I did was some .INI work and skinning (my skinning skills for this a/c aren't so good).
The PC-9A - I created a Philippine Air Force skin for DELS PC-9A using existing templates.
As an added option, I created 2 new screens; Main Screen and Single Mission. Drop the JPGs into your Menu folder.

      Final Words.
A lot of thanks to Menrva and Stratos for their continuous support during this process.
Stary, thank you for the superb GH tiles and allowing me to take some artistic license with your excellent work.
Erik, Wrench and the other administrators at Combat Ace. If it weren't for this site, no one would be reading this.
I am solely responsible for this project. I hope you enjoy it.

    3. Sweden, Baltic Rim (2004-2018)

      Sweden, Baltic Rim (2004-2018) Terrain
      March 13th, 2018 (1st Release)
      by Menrva

      >For Strike Fighters 2: Europe, Recommended Full-5 Merged
This is a complete remake of the Sweden terrain made by gillg, but set after the Cold War era.
What began as a simple tiling bugfix, for JonathanRL's The Scandinavian Front mod, turned out to be a huge overhaul upon noticing a number of inaccuracies. The terrain has been retargetized and hand-tiled to a good extent; major changes have been done to the Baltic states, which were pretty inaccurate in terms of target locations. Some rivers have been added and/or retiled to mimic Real World courses. Numerous target areas, including airports and highway strips, have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range.
This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look.
The terrain spans from March 30, 2004 (the beginning of NATO's Baltic Air Policing) to December 31, 2018; it is designed for The Scandinavian Front's scenarios by JonathanRL, taking place after the Cold War era.
This terrain is a standalone version of the one which will be included in the last iteration of the TSF mod package by JonathanRL. The terrain that will be included in the TSF mod package will likely differ slightly from this one, so users are advised to keep that in mind. Also, this terrain uses only a single tileset. The TSF's version will use different tilesets according to the season, as originally designed by our fellow modder, Stary.
Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible; for instance, some airfields won't be available after a certain date and/or will change name according to historic changes. Off Map Airbases have been added and long range AI flights can be generated from them, if you have SF2NA. Most of the main targets have been placed accurately in their Real World locations. Due to the complexity of the area, some inaccuracies are to be expected, but I did my best!
Ground Objects are not included. Download JonathanRL's The Scandinavian Front mod package to have all that you need for this scenario.

      >Credits (in no particular order):
-gillg, who created this terrain and whose work I have admired during my rework. I can only imagine how much time he spent on tiling roads and rivers from scratch!
-JonathanRL, for his exceptional TSF2 mod package, which prompted me to do something to help improve it.
-Wrench, as he is always glad to help us fellow terrain modders.
-Stary, for the wonderful tileset he made exclusively for the original Sweden terrain included in the TSF mod package.
-Gepard, for his great tutorials about terrain making, in the SF1 Knowledge Base at CombatACE. It's a gold mine!
-tiopilotos and Stratos, who always support me during my terrain remakes.
Because this terrain is a rework of gillg's fantastic creation, I included his ReadMe file from his original package, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not.

    4. Ethiopia, African Horn (1993-2028)

      Ethiopia, African Horn (1993-2028) Terrain
      December 13th, 2021 (1st Release)
      by Menrva

      >For Strike Fighters 2, Recommended Full-5 Merged
I am proud to present a brand new terrain made from scratch! Initially proposed in private by tiopilotos, I later decided to create it in order to offer an accurate playground for different conflicts never recreated in Strike Fighters.
The terrain completely covers Ethiopia, Eritrea and Djibouti, and a great portion of Somalia and Yemen. The tileset, based on JSF_Aggie's Desert repaint and Centurion-1's Desert 4 add-on, has been greatly expanded with necessary transition tiles. Expect long and very accurate river courses and all major lakes, the reddish deserts of the Horn of Africa and the green highlands of Ethiopia. Numerous target areas, such as civilian airports and airstrips, have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range.
This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look.
The terrain spans from April 27, 1993 (the day Eritrea declared independence from Ethiopia) to December 31, 2028. This terrain is adapt for historical scenarios such as the Eritrean–Ethiopian War and for territorial disputes between Eritrea, Yemen and Djibouti. Somaliland is still considered as Somalia since Somaliland is not officially recognized, though you can spot the Somaliland flag over some of its cities.
Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible; for instance, some airfields will appear at a given date, cities change their name at a specific year and so on, all according to Real World changes. Off Map Airbases have been added and long range AI flights can be generated from them. Having SF2NA is a must, as I have enabled naval ops; if your mod folder contains American, British and French aircraft carriers, sometimes you'll see fleets being generated in single missions.
Ground Objects are not included. You can obtain the most needed ones from Wrench's old Eritrea/Ethiopia terrain release.

      >Credits (in no particular order):
-Wrench, for working on Wingwiner's original Eritrea terrain, producing new target area layouts.
-JSF_Aggie, for his great Hi-Res Runway Textures v2.0 which I included, and for the hi-res desert tileset.
-Centurion-1, for expanding JSF_Aggie's tileset with more variety for the Desert4 terrain by Piecemeal.
-tiopilotos, for his continuous support in all my terrain modding efforts. Thank you very much!
-Stary, for old .TOD files which add trees and buildings on some tiles of this terrain.
-Gepard, for his great tutorials about terrain making, in the SF1 Knowledge Base at CombatACE. It's a gold mine!
Although scratch-made, the terrain makes use of most objects and target layouts from Wrench's Eritrea terrain; because of this, I included the ReadMe file from that package, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not.

    5. SF2 The Forest Bowl Terrain, V.2

      SF2 Forest Bowl Terrain, V.2                4/5/2020
      - For SF2, Any & All (Full-4/5 Merged, + Expansion Packs Reccomended)
This is a (mostly) complete revamp of "The Forest Bowl" terrain that was included in the (uncompleted) SF2 Civil/Firefighter Mod. It has been completely retargeted to make it a useful 'combat' terrain. All new movement inis, targets, types, etc. Also, now all 4 seasons are working. This terrain takes place in the fictional world of the Alliance vs the Global Sedition. The map is fully functional for ALL mission types with year spans from the 1940s through the far future (well, at least 2050) ie: There are NO mission type or time limitations.
Many and Lots (tm) of new terrain objects have been added, all cities are now valid targets. Shipping, Ground Attack and Armed Recon missions have a good number of routes for both sides to utlize. As is my habit, the terrain is covered with Easter Eggs; you shouldn't have any problems finding them. In short, the terrain is a myth-mash.
You may experience longer than normal loading times due to the number of terrain objects and seasonal tiles.
As is reccomended, unzip this archive to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you -read- the document through after unzipping, but =BEFORE= installing.

As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading.
      Good Hunting!

    6. Hawaii, Central Pacific (1959-2028)

      Hawaii, Central Pacific (1959-2028) Terrain
      December 13th, 2020 (1st Release)
      by Menrva

      >For Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam, Recommended Full-5 Merged
This is a complete remake of the Hawaii terrain. Unlike the original one released by Wrench, which is not in full Real World scale, this new terrain was made and tiled from scratch, and it features all the main Hawaiian islands in full scale, with more cities and pretty accurate elevation details.
A better looking and more complete tileset has been added. Numerous target areas, such as small civilian airports, have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range.
This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look.
The terrain spans from August 21, 1959 (when Hawaii officially became the 50th American State) to December 31, 2028; it is designed for fictional clashes between Red forces (namely Russia and China) and all of the American services (USAF, USN and USMC). The island of Kauai is added to Red Side for better gameplay; imagine it as the first step of a hostile invasion of Hawaii. All mission types are available, including CAS and Armed Recon.
Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible; for instance, some airfields will appear only after a certain year, according to historic changes. If you have SF2NA, naval fleets will spawn in the Pacific Ocean. Also, Off Map Airbases have been added and long range AI flights can be generated from them. All main targets have been placed accurately in their Real World locations.
Ground Objects are not included. You can obtain the most needed from Wrench's original Hawaii terrain release.

      >Credits (in no particular order):
-Wrench, for his permission to use his target areas from the original, smaller scale Hawaii terrain.
-swambast, who provided me with invaluable help in tracking and fixing common and uncommon bugs, and for allowing me to include his exclusive Pearl Harbor Memorial 3d model (which you cannot redistribute).
-JSF_Aggie, for his great Hi-Res Runway Textures v2.0 which I included.
-Stary, for the hi-res Okinawa tileset he made, which I have reworked and expanded.
-Gepard, for his great tutorials about terrain making, in the SF1 Knowledge Base at CombatACE. It's a gold mine!
Because this terrain re-uses some of the original target area layouts by Wrench from his previously released Hawaii terrain, I included the ReadMe files from his original package, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not.

This is a freeware; yet it can be redistributed ONLY in other CombatACE mods/mod packages.

    7. Outer Space Terrains

      Outer Space Terrains
      July 13th, 2021 (1st Release)
      by Menrva and nuni

      >For Strike Fighters 2, Recommended Full-5 Merged
This package was born out of fun while working on the realSKY Environment enhancement mod. It features two experimental terrains, Moon and Mars, each with own environment data files which allow different gravity acceleration values and custom skies. Due to various hardcoded factors of the stock game, the Moon terrain shows contrail effects at very high altitude like any other terrain, as well as overcast/inclement weather layers which cannot be disabled in any way; enjoy these custom environments by taking such and other game engine limitations into account. It is suggested to install the realSKY Environment mod, since the custom environment data references extra details from that package.
Both terrains feature fresh new 250m resolution heightmaps (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall they provide each terrain with a better look. Given that these are extraterrestrial terrains, different types of source data had to be used in their creation; for this and other limitations, altitudes of geographical features are inaccurate.
The Moon terrain spans from 2040 to 2070, while Mars is available from 2060 to 2090; both are designed for fictional clashes between Red forces (Russian Space Forces and People's Liberation Army Strategic Support Force) and Blue forces (United States Space Force and French Space Force). Both terrains contain only two bases, one for Friendly forces and one for Enemy forces, fully populated with custom objects created by nuni. Few target areas have been added so that users can easily discover features such as craters, plateaus and valleys. At this stage, only the Recon mission type is available, so just have fun by flying over these barren terrains. Off Map bases have been added to both terrains and long range AI flights could be generated from them.
An Orion MPCV created by nuni in three different variants has been added as a flyable aircraft as well as a terrain object in points of interest. In addition, custom skins have been created for it so that all AI-only space forces spawn with at least one terrain-specific aircraft; I would have liked to include other feasible and realistic spacecraft, but none are available at this stage. If you wish to contribute to this end, just contact me. The idea is to create plausible space warfare and exploration scenarios, so alien and sci-fi stuff should not be involved. Of course, you're free to alter the original scenario for your own personal use.

      >Credits (in no particular order):
-nuni, for creating the Orion MPCV and all featured space terrain objects.
-gerwin, whose TFDtool has proved to be essential in today's terrain making.
-mue, for the improved shaders he made and for the tools he made for SF2 modding.

      >Disclaimer:
This is a freeware; yet it can be redistributed ONLY in other CombatACE mods/mod packages.
Any changes to the package's files and/or any copy-and-paste attempts of their contents are NOT authorized if you plan to release them in other mods. But permission might be granted to those who request it to me at CombatACE.

    8. Italy, Southern Europe (1963-1991)

      Italy, Southern Europe (1963-1991) Terrain
      September 13th, 2022 (1st Release)
      by Menrva and tiopilotos

      >For Strike Fighters 2, Recommended Full-5 Merged
I am very proud to release a long awaited, brand new terrain made from scratch! The result of many years of dedication and sweat starting in 2017, it features thousands of manually placed tiles reproducing Real World river courses and lakes, not to mention tons of cities all accurately placed in their correct locations. This terrain portrays a pretty complex area, no wonder it never got made properly in two decades of Strike Fighters modding. It is my hope you realize the amount of time and hard effort that I have put to reproduce it with much care and detail.
The terrain completely covers Italy (with the exception of Sicily, which is included in my Libya terrain), Yugoslavia, Albania, Corsica (France), Liechtenstein and nice portions of Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, Greece and even a bit of Romania. The tileset, based on one of Stary's GermanyCE tilesets, has been recoloured and expanded with needed transition tiles and features beautiful, unique tiles by tiopilotos which reproduce real islands. Expect long and very accurate river courses, all major and some minor lakes, and tons of islands in the Adriatic Sea. Numerous target areas have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range; those include more than 140 airports, more than 100 SAM sites and more than 70 EW-GCI sites, all placed accurately in their correct locations as shown by well-made SAM site datasets for Google Earth.
This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look.
The terrain spans from April 7, 1963 (the day the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was introduced) to June 24, 1991 (the day before Slovenia and Croatia declared independence). This terrain is adapt for Cold War scenarios pitting NATO forces against the combined Red Side forces of Yugoslavia, Albania, Hungary and Romania. Airfields in Austria and Switzerland have been set to Neutral, so the AI and the player will never spawn on those by default.
Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible. Having SF2NA is a must, as I have enabled naval ops; if your mod folder contains American, French and Italian aircraft carriers, sometimes you'll see fleets being generated in single missions.
NOTE: The terrain is not fully finished. It currently misses targets for cities, such as bridges, warehouses, factories etc. If time will allow, maybe someday it will be completed properly.

      >Credits (in no particular order):

      >Trivia:
Some statistics of the amount of work that went into it, gathered thanks to gerwin's TFDtool. I placed manually one by one: more than 8600 rivers tiles, more than 1100 road tiles, more than 2000 city related tiles! This is just the tip of the iceberg, not counting other thousands of tiles that have been placed manually on the tilemap to better reproduce coastlines, islands and lakes, and not counting the endless hours of research since 2017 into adding all possible airports with much accuracy.

    9. Italy, Southern Europe (1993-2006)

      Italy, Southern Europe (1993-2006) Terrain

The terrain completely covers Italy (with the exception of Sicily, which is included in my Libya terrain), Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania, Corsica (France), Liechtenstein and nice portions of Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, Macedonia, Greece and even a bit of Romania.
The terrain spans from April 12, 1993 (the beginning of Operation Deny Flight) to June 2, 2006 (the day before Montenegro declared its independence). This terrain is adapt for the Yugoslav Wars and for what-if scenarios pitting Serbia against NATO. For gameplay purposes, Bosnia is set to Red Side alongside Serbia and Montenegro. Slovenia, Croatia and Macedonia are set to Blue Side. Airfields in Austria, Switzerland and Romania have been set to Neutral, so the AI and the player will never spawn on those by default.

    11. Semi-Transparent Map Icons for SF2 Series

Compatible with Strike Fighters 2 Series of games.

One thing that has bugged me about the Strike Fighters series is the object icons are both large and opaque. Compound this with the fact that they cannot be filtered, and it makes for difficult mission planning over areas of dense activity. This mod reduces the icon size by 25% and makes the icons semi-transparent, which allows you to easily see the enemy and friendly forces while still seeing the map underneath the forces. This is especially useful for runway strikes, where you will want to know the orientation of the runway prior to setting up your Initial Point.

Specifically, his mod converts the BMP object icons to TGA and adds an alpha channel that ranges from 50% to 75% opacity. Likewise, this mod updates the PLANNINGMAPSCREEN.INI in order to call the new TGA files as well as reduce the Object Icon Size from 32 pixels to 24 pixels.

Easy Installation (if you are not running any other menu mod)
Copy the included Menu folder into your SF2 mods folder

Manual Installation (if you have an existing menu mod)
As long as your menu mod doesn't change the PLANNINGMAPSCREEN.INI file, you should just be able to copy these files to your SF2 Mods folder. If you do use a custom PLANNINGMAPSCREEN.INI, then in addition to copying the TGA files to your [sF2 Mods]\Menu folder, you will need to make the following changes to PLANNINGMAPSCREEN.INI:

      [MapData] <...> FriendlyAircraftIcon=FriendlyAircraftIcon.tga <-------change these from BMP to TGA FriendlyGroundForceIcon=FriendlyGroundForceIcon.tga FriendlyNavalUnitIcon=FriendlyNavalUnitIcon.tga FriendlyRadarIcon=FriendlyRadarIcon.tga EnemyAircraftIcon=EnemyAircraftIcon.tga EnemyGroundForceIcon=EnemyGroundForceIcon.tga EnemyNavalUnitIcon=EnemyNavalUnitIcon.tga EnemyRadarIcon=EnemyRadarIcon.tga <...> ObjectIconSize=24 <---- change this from 32 <...>

You can resize the ObjectIconSize to whatever you like, but the included HighlightIcon.tga is set for a 24 pixel Object Icon. If you wish to keep the ObjectIconSize at 32, you can do so; just remove the HighlightIcon.tga from your [sF2 Mods]\Menu folder and the default icon from the CAT file will be used. If you wish to use any other size icon, you will need to make changes to HighlightIcon.tga yourself. If you know of a way to change this in the INI file, please let me know so that I can put it in my next update.

      Future Compatibility Issues
In order to ensure compatibility with future official SF2 patches, you may need to extract PLANNINGMAPSCREEN.INI from the MenuData.CAT file and compare the files to ensure compatibility. You can quickly find my changes in the sections bracketed by //.

For support, please post in the corresponding File Announcement thread at CombatAce.

    13. Icons for SF2, all variants

I didn't merge my installs - and I won't be the only one. That leaves us with the difficult problem of working out which desktop icon points at which install...

      This should help. There's a different icon for each version of SF2 - SF2, SF2E, SF2V and SF2I.

Should be fairly obvious which is for which! ;-)

    14. Updated Default SF2 Terrain by Piecemeal V 1.2

UPDATED DEFAULT SF2 DESERT TERRAIN Ver. 1.2

SF2 has always been my favourite of all the platforms; and after downloading and using the various terrain mods for SF2E and SF2V with hungry anticipation I decided to HEAVILY modify the stock Desert terrain with more than enough of eye candy.

      DESCRIPTION:

Without giving too much away, the geographical story is now as follows:

*As well as Dhimar amd Paran, I've added Sharnak from baffmeister's Desert 2 terrain (my inspiration for this), now a colony which is known as the British Protectorate of Sharnak. RAF squadrons are permanently based there. A couple of other bases, border posts and the like have also been added from Desert 2
*I always thought that D9 and D10 airfields were always a little too close to the border. They've now been moved to the Dhimari 'wastelands' which you'll see on the centre left side of the enclosed planning map
*About ten SAM sites have been added to various locations on Dhimar and the amount of SAM sites across Paran has been hugely increased, the biggest increase being Paran's capital city of Kurzah; which in SAM site and Flak battery terms is now more like Hanoi during the Vietnam War.
*Ships, cranes, oil tanks, warehouses and the like have been added to ports on both sides. Now the capital cities of Muthala and Kurzah, have extensive docklands. Other coastal towns have at least one docking area for shipping.
*(15TH AUG 2010): Inspired by JSF Aggie's SF2 Range terrain, all airfields on both sides have been extensively facelifted and given a new lease of life by re-populating them with huge amounts of groundobjects, both new and old. They now look a lot more like real life airfields instead of that deserted 'Chernobyl International Airport' look in the default airfields. All airfields have also been re-catagorised into two different groups; 'Red' and 'Blue'. For example, a Dhimari DESERT_AIRFIELD4 will now be 'BLUE_AIRFIELD4' and a Parani one will now be 'RED_AIRFIELD4'. New trucks have been added as default groundobjects so they'll have to be downloaded elsewhere on the site (see 'Installation' for details).

      ----------------------------------

      INSTALLATION (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY):

Simply unzip the FILE and put the enclosed 'DESERT3' folder into your Terrain folder.

Important Note: If you don't already have these, you should download them from the SF1 downloads section, otherwise they won't show up:
*SAMs & Vehicles Pack with Desert Skins by Pasko.
      *Soviet Transport Pack by Kesselbrut.
      *M109A6 Paladin by rebel ryder.
*'Camiones Argentinos' truck models by Banidos Team & Suicidal (the default 'USTruck' models have been totally replaced by these, so downloading these trucks is definitely a MUST or there'll be no trucks anywhere in Dhimar!!)

    16. SF2 Series Range

      *******************************************************************************
      ********* Bombing Range For SF2 ********
      *******************************************************************************

This is an update to the original bombing range to make it compatible with the
SF2 series, and take advantage of some of the new features now available. It
also has terrain tiles redrawn at 1024x1024.

A QF-100D drone is included in this download. You'll see these flying around
the range, and parked at the simulated airfield. All weapons have been
removed, so they won't shoot at you.

Only hostile aircraft with a "NationName=RANGE" will show up on this terrain.

A modified version of the NATIONS.INI file has been included. It is the stock
file with the "RANGE" nation added. You need the "RANGE" nation defined if you
      want the QF-100D's showing up.

Provided your other terrains have their "LimitedNations" setup, you won't see
the QF-100's anywhere except the Range.

A quick note, for the most part, this is still the original target layout.
Wrench and others have created target laydowns with a much wider array of
targets. These changes can be easily merged with this update.

Feel free to further modify this, but don't sell it, and please include the
      credit list below.

    17. Formosa Upgrade 2: Airfields Fixes & Other Small Tweeks

Formosa Terrain Update -- Parked Aircraft Fixes (and some other stuff)

Yet more updating of the Formosa terrain, that adds game-generated parked aircraft to Gepard's NATO/WarPac style airbases that are used. Also included are some modified inis that create the LimitedNations (from my recently released pack), some additons to the _Types ini, some targeting tweeks, a 'generic' PLAN Destroyer, modified GermanyCE airbase inis, with increaed parking chances, and a few other little things here and there. You'll have to fly around to find them.

Designed for use with Stary's new terrain tiles, you should have his upgrade installed before adding this one. Although there is very little possibility of conflicts (as this was built with his new stuff in my terrain), it never hurts to be safe, huh??

Speaking of ground objects, you'll find as mentioned, a stand-in PLAN destroyer, inis for Grinch's Fletcher with a new UserList (these were in the Libya 3.75 upgrade, but some folks may not have installed them), AND... a working Silkworm launcher and Styx missile.

While designed for SF2 usage, all the inis are in ANSI, and can easily be used on 1st Gen SF/Wo* versions. However, the Styx missils IS set up for SF2 only. Those knowledgable with weapons editing can easily down-convert to 08 1st Gen levels.

As always, READ the enclosed document for full install instructions.

      Good Hunting!

    18. CloudScape v3: Two Skies

      Cloudscape v3 09/22/2010 by ShrikeHawk

Here's two cloud mods for the price of one. You get a cloud mod for Wings over Israel2 and Wings over Vietnam2. Each uses two cloud images: cloud1.tga and cloud2.tga. These images are different in both, but are interchangeable between the two mods. With just a simple file renaming you can try out any of the clouds in CloudSkins 1,2,or 3 in these mods. Experiment, play with it, and see what kind of skies you can build.

The WOI2 mod is a variation of the new Widesky. The WoV2 mod is a variation of the default environmentsystem.ini.

Thanks to Cellinski and Insky Group for the original WideSky mod and the updated version for Thirdwire's 2nd Gen Sims.

Thanks to Stick for trying it out and for the support.

Welcome to the Desert Southwest of the United States of America. To be more precise.....you are in central New Mexico, home of the Mescalero Apache tribe. The year is 2011 and a new SF2 bombing range file is here.
This is my attempt at creating the ULTIMATE place for SF2 fanatics to PRACTICE and MASTER their air combat skills. So put on your feathers and war-paint....grab your best horse..... and give it a try.......CHAMP

      Features:
      - Upgraded home airfield with additional facilities, additional runway and full lighting for night ops!
-OVER 15 detailed target areas on the range for air to ground bombing, rocketry and gunnery practice. Numerous target types.
      - OVER 30 TYPES OF DRONES will challenge your air to air skills (or lack of them). Yes....you CAN fly the drones also!!
      - A detailed READ ME folder with INSTALLATION instructions, range overview, intel photos and of course CREDITS!

Tested on all four SF2 titles......both stand alone and merged.

This is part 2 (of 2 uploads to complete the range mod)
First set of 8 drones and one drone controller included.
Bonus set of F-4N Phantom "hunter-killers"
      Batteries not included.

Use of the DT-28B Trojan requires access to the A-team Skunkworks download files. This access is however...NOT...required to use the Mescalero Range or any other aircraft/drone.

    21. Piecemeal's Airfield Mod For Stary's 'Green Hell 3'

This mod is something to complement Stary's Green Hell3 mod for SF2V. All airfields on both sides have been extensively facelifted and given a new lease of life by re-populating them with huge amounts of groundobjects that were used in my Desert3 terrain and updated airfields for the Four Seasons mod.
Airfields have also been re-catagorised into two different groups; 'Red' and 'Blue'. For example, a friendly 'vietnamSEA_airfield4' will now be 'BLUE_AIRFIELD4' and a North Vietnamese 'vietnamSEA_airfield4_NV' will now be 'RED_AIRFIELD4'.
The amount of ground objects and buildings on all airfields are on a MUCH bigger scale than before, though I haven't really noticed much of a drop in FPS performance - although the mod's performance on your PC does depend on your own system and specs.

      ----------------------------------

      INSTALLATION (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY):

      * First, save a copy of your existing 'VietnamSEA' terrain (in case for some strange reason you might not be happy with this mod!).
      * Secondly, unzip this pack and allow the folders within to merge with your SF2V installation. If asked whether you want to replace files, allow them to be overwritten (you saved a copy of your original terrain, yeah?).

You should be good to go then!

Important Note: If you don't already have this, you should download it from the SF1 downloads section, otherwise North Vietnamese airfields will be missing a LOT of trucks:

      * Kesselbrut's 'Soviet Transport Mod', which can be found here: http://combatace.com/files/file/3667-soviet-transport-pack/

    23. SF2 Mescalero Proving Grounds - All-in-One

This is nothing more than a repackaging of the ChampionsVA56's gorgeous SF2 Mescalero Proving Grounds that originally came divided in six parts.

    24. Optional desert to mountains tiles for Piecemeal's Desert3 Update v1.2 terrain

This little modification is my tweak to several textures from "ODS" Iraq/Piecemeal's Desert3 terrains.

Created with "Updated Default SF2 Terrain by Piecemeal V 1.2" in mind, this pack changes the look of desert-to-mountain transitions tiles, making them much more sloped rocks thus standing out from surrounding sands. Tile-specific heightmap files (_HM) used to achieve more detailed mesh displacement.
Matter of one's preferences, it's one of those not necessary optional mods ;)

All the transition textures are based on work by Deuces for original ODS terrain, further used in Piecemeal's Desert3 update of stock SF2 Parani/Dhimari map.

    25. Modern Darwin Terrain "CleanUp" Pak

      Modern Darwin Terrain, CleanUp Pak

For SF2 - Full-4 Merged Reccomended (but not fully required)
(Reccomended to have the SF2:V VietnamSEA cat readily available)

While working on the Oz-Mirage, I noticed some errors, shall we say, with the Modern Darwin terrain, so decieded to go through it do some clean up. It could still use a major retargeting, but this will enchance things a little until such time as that happens.

Several areas have been completly retiled, some cities moved/removed/renamed/retargeted, and so forth...lots of fiddiling with the Height Field to remove some oddities were performed. I think it's much better now, thank you! <grin>.

If you don't have the terrain already, use the following URLs to download it.

      The original terrain is here:
      http://combatace.com/files/file/6089-modern-darwintimor/

The SF2 Upgrade Pak is here:
      http://combatace.com/files/file/11564-sf2-update-modern-darwin-terrain/

If you already have it in your SF2 install, and have the SF2 update installed, this package is all you need.

HOWEVER....if you wish to enhance the terrain, I'd reccomend Stary's GreenHell3, as it uses the exact same placements as the stock tiles (with some tree exceptions), and is REEEALLLY worth the download. Yes, I've tested the terrain with BOTH tile sets. You can get GH3 from here:

      http://combatace.com/files/file/11649-green-hell-3/

NO OTHER TILESETS, OTHER THAN GH3 and the STOCK ONE are RECCOMENDED!!! Otherwise, the TODs =will= foul up the targeting (ie: placements of buliding and GroundObjects). For those wishing to use GH3, a Darwin_Data.ini all set up for that use is suppled.

Several changes to the targets, types, movements inis, along with the invocation of the LimitedNations=TRUE statement should bring this more in line with the Real World ™.

New planning maps are supplied, too. A modified version of the PLAN Destroyer from my Formosa upgrade is included (changed a few things). No other GroundObjects (read: ships) are included; you should already have them in the game installs, along with the various SAMs, AAA, vehicles, and etc.

Several new, custom TODs for the Grass-river tiles are included, for use =ONLY= with the stock VN-SEA tileset.

Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life ™ courses, or be placed in their Real Life ™ locations. Several cities and other target areas may also fall into that classification.

As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. As always, the expected "Notes" section for whatever reason it's there for!

      Happy Landings!
