Iceland 02 Full-Scale Terrain v1.0
by Baltika
***********************************
Thanks to:-
Gepard for his terrain tutorials, which started this adventure off all those years ago. Also for his new WoE runways which are included here.
JSFAggie for his Highway runway Mod, which has been altered and modded for use as glacier-based FARPs.
Brain32 for sound advice on creating terrain tiles. Cheers mate;-) Your hi-res lava tile has not been used here, but may see the light of day if I ever manage a hi-res set for this little terrain.
Wrench, Dave & all the gang at CA for invaluable advice on how to make things work, garnered over the years and hopefully put to good effect here.
MajorLee, Deuces, Edward and anyone else who made a terrain mod and posted about how to do it. Thanks!
TK for making the whole bag of bolts hang together.
***********************************
Installation instructions:-
Unzip and drop the "ICELAND02" folder into your Saved GamesThirdwireStrikeFighters2Terrains folder.
If there is no terrains folder in your mod folder, create one and drop the ICELAND02 folder into it.
That's it! Go fly, and fight for the liberation of Iceland.
This terrain has been completed using SF2 June 2010 patch. It is not supported on WoX series or earlier patch levels. But, if you really must try, use the ICELAND02_DATA.INI file included in the "Use_in_WoX" folder for SF1 series. Your mileage may vary.
***********************************
This terrain features a completely new Iceland map, scaled up to full size and with a completely new tileset. All mission types are flyable for Red and Blue force. It has taken a number of years and several false starts to get to this point. Like gepard said about his Israel terrain, I feel the journey may never be finished, so if you spot any oddities or bugs, drop me a line at CombatAce and I'll try to fix it.
I will post targetisation updates as and when these are completed. For now, kick back, enjoy the Arctic scenery and have a blast.

Cuba (OTC Plus) Terrain
By Wrench
Cuba "OTC Plus" Terrain for SF2
This is a complete rebuild of the 'Operation Tainted Cigar' terrain, that originally represented the time frame of the Cuban Missile Crisis. While revamped with that in mind, everyone knows that I don't build terrains that can only be used for 14 Days. This terrain has been EXTENSIVELY expanded, and has operation years spanning from 1959 (the year of the Cuban Revolution), to the Present Day and Beyond, ie: 1959-2050.
This is a complete terrain, with many new/revamped/replaced/whatever tiles, and includes Stary's Enhanced Cuba pakage (meaning: LOTS of custom-made tiles and TODs). The entire map was gone over completly, moving/removing and adding dozens of new target areas and correcting errors from the original release. Unfortunately, I was not able to generate new planning maps, as for some reason SFMap kept crapping out on this terrain (volenteers, anyone??) My apologies for getting 'stuck with' the old ones.
The targets, types, and movements ini have been expanded to be as historicaly and geophysically accurate as (much as is, with this terrain engine) possible. See "Notes" for more on this. The data ini uses the latest (June 2011) structure. The Limited Nations statement is set to TRUE, reducing the players to those regionally historical.
So as not to conflict with any other Cuba terrain, this is called "Cuba (OTC+)" -this is how it will appear in your dropdown menu. The folder itself is called "CubaOTC". However, this terrain does NOT include the southern US (north of Orlando), Central or South America. Other than that, I think you'll find it enjoyable (no, DisneyWorld/EPCOT is NOT on the map, sorry)
A large number of Ground Objects are included; some you may already have, some are new or revamped versions. Userlists have also been genrated for these, where the user(s) was known and/or discoverable. This also explains the LARGE size of the download - sorry, it's the one way I know that makes sure you have damn near everything necessary to run. Aircraft and skins are NOT included. With luck, I've remembered to add the items necessary; pleas make sure you have the needed artillery pieces. (both sides, although a new one is included)
The map is 'time sensitive', with respect to the October Crisis; the IRBM batteries will turn on and off for that time frame. SAM sites are accurately placed, and for the most part remain active for the full duration up to Modern/Post-Modern Times.
*Shameless Plug: several country & era-specific aircraft/aircraft skins are available in the CA SF2 downloads section*
For those wishing to use this terrain on the old OTC campaign -DON'T. It will not work. A new campaign is under construction.
As expected, there are several Easter Eggs -- you'll find them if you look hard enough. (Hint: one's in the Bahama's)
Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life courses, or be placed in their Real Life locations. Several cities and other physical features may also fall into that classification.
As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you read the document through after unzipping before installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading. Please also read the standard disclaimer, as it's been changed slightly.
Good Hunting!

Desert Plus
By baffmeister
FOR SFP1, SFGOLD, and SF2.
This mod adds 2 more fictional countries to the stock desert terrain. The new countries are the Republic of Dohar, allied with Paran, and the Sultanate of Sharnak, allied with Dhimar. The mod adds some new airports, cities and towns in the unoccupied western section of the desert terrain, as well as border posts, lookout towers and some new oil fields for Dhimar and Paran. This version is likely the final one.
Main Features:
1. Easy install that won't affect the stock terrain.
2. 3 time zoom map showing new border areas.
3. a few new attack and truck routes added for CAS and Armed Recon missions
CREDITS: Thanks to Whiteknight 06604 for making the Dohar and original Sharnak decals.
Changes for version 2.2:
1. Terrain leveled at Canopic airfield.
2. The airfield at Fasala has been moved and the terrain leveled at the new location.
3. Some seldom used terrain tiles have been repainted so the airfields at Shalabar and Al'Aranak are on greenspace.
4. Optional textures for the SF-2 dirt runway included.
NOTES: Still working on a new terrain for the four fictional countries but it won't be ready for a loooooooong time.

Iran/Iraq 2003+ Terrain for SF2
By Wrench
Iran-Iraq 2003+ Terrain
- For SF2, Full-4 Merged (Reccomended) -
This is a complete and total rebuild of the 1980s version of the Iran/Iraq terrain, into a slightly more modern version. IE: Post-0IF, and especially designed/rebuilt for the Operation Darius mod now circulating around. This is a completly seperate map, and will NOT conflict with the 1980s Iran-Iraq War map.
Basically, the sides have been switched; making Iran enemy and Iraq friendly (as it's most definatly post-OIF). The terrain has the Limited Nations statments set, modified movements ini, some minor retiling and additions to the _targets and _types inis. The terrain also has a 'fixed' StartDate= of 2003. The rest of the Gulf states have been reactivated as FRIENDLY, but the majority of cities in Kuwait, Bahrain, Quatar and Saudi Arabia are basically 'just there for show'. OTH, all the airfields are now active.
OTH, again, new planning maps were NOT generated -- so don't be alarmed when seeing the markers as Red in Iraq, and Blue in Iran. I just didn't want to redo them.
No GroundObjects are included with this terrain ... for Op Darius they are/will be a seperate download. They also should NOT conflict with amongst themselves, if/when installed to a 'general all-incusive' game install, as they've been adapted for use in all installs (ie: many are nation specific, and all have new correct userlists).
As always, detailed install instructions are included below.
Enjoy!

Kamchatka Peninsula for SF2
By Baltika
Kamchatka Peninsula
v2.0
by Baltika
For Strike Fighters 2 Series
This is an upgrade of my original Kamchatka Peninsula Terrain to bring it up to the latest SF2 standard (September 2011 patch).
I was motivated to bring it up to speed to provide a native combat environment for TK's excellent JASDF Phantom F-4EJ, available at the Thirdwire DLC Store.
What's new over version 1.0:
-Fully compatible with SF2
-Winter and Summer tilesets
-Fully operational in Thirdwire Mission Editor (Cheers Crusader!)
This terrain includes a base tileset by Deuces, together with Stary's forests and farms mod adapted for use on this terrain. I have also created a large number of additional transition tiles based on Deuce's tiles, which may be of interest to terrain builders.
This version 2.0 release also includes a full winter tileset, which is based on Major Lee's DBS terrain tileset. Thanks also to Wrench for creating the water effect .TGA tiles used here which bring the water to life.
The tile naming format is compatible with the stock GermanyCE tileset for ease of expansion, but be aware that the excellent hi-res and seasoned tilesets by Brain32 and Stary in particular will not have all the necessary transition tiles, so use them with caution. Should you wish to use the included transitioned tileset for your own terrain mods, copy all the terrain .bmp files and .tga files into the "Tileset" folder and convert the .tga tiles to .bmp format. See Gepard's excellent terrain tutorials in the KB at CA for more info.
All mission types are activated, for both red and blue side flyable. The Americans have their existing bases on the Aleutian Islands. I have handed the northern Kuril Islands to the Japanese for the sake of this scenario. Take it as read that the Soviets were sufficiently distracted by the ground war in central Europe that they lost their hold on the Kurils to Japan. Now, the Soviets are engaged in a fierce battle for control of the strategically important Kamchatka Peninsula.
This is a target-rich, fictionalised version of the RUssian Far East. There are many installations and industrial zones in the Kamchatkai Krai that you will not find in real life. Equally, as much real-life stuff as I could discover went into the mix. Also, this is a showcase of a fully-transitioned tileset, so there is much more agriculture than you would get at these latitudes. Just kick back and enjoy the scenery.
Finally, there is a monstrous presence lurking at the heart of the Peninsula who has risen from aeons of deathless sleep to trouble the affairs of men once more. Bragging rights to the first person to take a recon photo of this horror and make it back to base alive, and with their sanity intact ;-)
INSTALLATION:-
Simply unzip and drop the "KAMCHATKA" folder into your User\Saved Games\Thirdwire\StrikeFighters2\Terrains folder.
It is highly recommended that you install the files listed below or you will not get the full intended Kamchatka Krai experience.

Sweden
By gillg
Another Sweden Terrain!!!!
It does venture further South into what is now Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. If you increase the boundary, you can get the North of Poland as well and maybe a little bit of Norway.
I would like to do better planning maps and more road bases for Sweden. But I realise that it has taken me this long to get this far and
life is not slowing down so I release it to the masses to scrutinize. That and JonathanRL would like to stuff around with it. So this ones for you Jono!!
Good luck.
Installation:
Unzip the "Sweden" to a temp folder, or your desktop or somewhere easy to find.
Then copy/paste, move the Sweden terrain folder into your Terrains folder in whichever game install you're installing it to!.
Go to the Sweden.in file and change the cat to the appropriate cat file.
Go fly!
Decals included:
Viggen: F6
F7
F13
F15
F17
J-35F: F1
F10
F16
There is a readme if you really do read them.

All you guys out there as well!!!!
If I did miss anyone, it is not intentional

PS. I made a few tiles for target specific areas, nothing to flash but I didn't put this info in the readme.

Central America Terrain for SF2
By Wrench
Central America Terrain for SF2
- For SF2, Any & All (Full-4/5 Merged Reccomended*)
This terrain covers the area from Belize, down to Columbia, centered on the Panama Canal. Some regions are a bit truncated (eastern El Salvador), and some areas are not targeted.
This terrain does =NOT= have the SF2NA "NavalMap" statement activated in any inis. It is designed =ONLY= for ground-based air forces. It is highly suggested it remain as such. However, the _water.bmp does have 2 "Blue Side" coded carrier stations, one in the Pacific and one in the Caribean. Again, its not reccomended for CV usage; as once the "NavalMap=TRUE" is activated, all USMC carrier-capable aircraft will now ONLY fly from The Boat.
The LimitedNations statement is set to TRUE, allowing only for 'regional powers' (with a few exceptions).
Many of the included GroundObjects you may already have -- install them anyway. A majority of them have had the "issuing" user nations corrected, and the appropriate UserList created. The included Ships have also been updated as per SF2NA.
Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life courses, or be placed in their Real Life locations. Several cities and other physical features may also fall into that classification.
However, 2 Easter Eggs are emplaced on the map. You should be able to guess where, and what they are.
As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you read the document through after unzipping, but before installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading. Please also read the New Standard discalimer, as it's been changed slightly.
Happy Sightseeing!

Desert Target Zone - SF2
By baffmeister
For Strike Fighters 2.
Built for real time game generated strike missions. Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to do a round trip strike mission. Paran and Dhimar get 4 airports each and the front line is relocated to what used to be central Dhimar. Main Features:
1. 141 target areas including 10 SAM sites for Paran.
2. Easy install.
3. Many "Freeware" objects being used.
4. Quicker Take Off mod included with customized parking spots. Large aircraft parking will accept C-5A sized aircraft.
5. Contains Ground Attack, Truck, and Ship routes so you can fly CAS, Armed Recon and anti-ship missions.
6. Has a 3X zoom map from an older version of SF that shows desert and green spaces better.
7. Installation won't affect your stock "Desert" terrain.
8. Negative points awarded if you cause collateral damage.
CREDITS: Thanks to these folks for creating and allowing freeware use of their building objects:
1. This project uses some objects from MITCH's "Factory Place" project. There seems to be a consensus within the Strike Fighters community that it's OK to use these objects for FreeWare projects.
3. WRENCH, for hosting the "Factory Place" objects at his website. And for the cool "Shipwrecks!"
2. GEPARD, for some objects I lifted from his DRV terrain.
4. PASKO, for the round tents, now used by the Bedouins.
5. GRUMPOTAMUS, for the Radar Dome.
6. WINGWHINER, for the some Factories, Headquarters Building, Gas Station, Tactical Control Center, and Control Tower H1.
7. STARY, for the his hangar pack.
8. FUBAR512, for the Pecco Crane.
New for this version:
9. WINGWHINER again for some buildings from his epic 43 city buildings pack.
10.JULHELM for some industrial silo's/buildings
11.RussoUK and Gepard for the Oil Rig.
12.EZLead for the formation take off mod.
13. TK and ThirdWire for creating such an interesting flight sim / hobby.
Changes for this version: Unless a patch does something really bad to this terrain, it is the final version. Using some buildings from WingWhiners 43 city building pack finally gave me the variety I was looking for. Check out EZleads included formation take off mod, it's a perfect fit for this terrain!

Alternate Falklands Terrains
By Sundowner
Firstly I strongly advise that you install the Falklands_1982 mod by eburger & team.
http://combatace.com/topic/74604-sf2-falklands-mod-redux/
Two new versions of the Falklands/Malvinas terrain.
Hopefully most of the issues with the original are now sorted, coast lines have needed to be changed here and there and the terrain itself is much more uneven with more pronounced hills and mountains, two seasonal variations are included.
Please read the readme....it really does have some useful stuff in it.
Many thanks to eburger & the team that worked on the original mod.

Eritrea/Ethiopia Terrain for SF2

Eritrea/Ethiopia Terrain for SF2
= For SF2, Any and All (Full-4 Merged Reccomended)
This terrain is a rebuild version of the 'beta - (minus)' uploaded by Wingwinner some years ago. It has been completly rebuilt, from the HFD up.
This terrain also uses JSF_Aggie's Enhanced Desert tiles, with the tile set =GREATLY= expanded, with many new tiles, many tiles with minor & major corrections and repairs, and LOTS and LOTS of custom TODs. The area covered includes parts of Somilia, Djbouti, a little of eastern Yemen, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Sudan as far west as the Nile rivers (Blue & White) confluence at Khartoum.
The 'addon' terrain objects have been kept to a minimum. Stock in-game items have been used in most cases, although some additional units may (or may not!) be required. Add-on GroundObjects, while heavily listed in the _Types.ini, have been kept to as small amount as possible. See "Notes" for what you might need. You've probably got most of them already. Some additions to several Userlists for both Stock 3W and 3rd Party add-ons (in particular for some SAM units) have been included, as several nations simply weren't listed.
Limited Nations, Limited Missions and Operations years do NOT reflect the Real World . Eritrea did not exist until 1991; the map has the standard "all years spread". However, the various nations are listed in the Eritera_Nations.ini, but none of the Limitations are active.
Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life courses, or be placed in their Real Life locations, or even exist as such. Several cities and other physical features may also fall into that classification (ie: mountains, hills, valleys, etc). Some cities may also NOT have
all their proper Real Life industries, facilities and other building classifications, or be fully loaded with 'target objects'. Accuracy has been strived for in all cases, to reflect the Real World . As much as is possible with this Engine.
This map also makes use of the 'Expanded Borders' mod, wherein you make changes to the FlightEngine.ini. Instructions on making this adjustment are included (if you haven't already).
Please note, that when unzipped, the terrain folder will be quite large (~350 megs) due to the size of the tiles -they're 1024x. Make sure you have enough space.
As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended (ie: REQUIRED!!!) you read the document through after unzipping, before installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading.
It's most important that the legal disclaimer at the bottom be read and complied with. There has been a change in policy with regards to =ALL= my terrain mods.
Happy Landings!

East Africa/Madagascar Terrain, Version 2.0 for SF/Wo* and SF2
By Dave
East Africa/Madagascar Terrain, Version 2.0 for SF/Wo* and SF2
This is a complete rebuild of the terrain originaly released in June 2004. It has been extensively retiled, and has had a MAJOR upgrade in the targetization. It is designed to COMPLETELY replace that original version. It has been fully updated to use in the post-patch and SF2 worlds.
This is a COMPLETE package, with everything needed to just unzip, install, and fly over. All the tiles are included, including Stary's "Mad Trees Mod", creating a more 'lush' version. Many new TODs have been created, so you'll see lots of trees and small buildings in and around the cites.
Extensive upgrading has been performed on the targets, types, data and movement inis , to make use of 08 and SF2 level terrain effects, and the targeting enhancements. New planning maps of all 3 levels have been generated and included.
It is reccomended (read: REQUIRED) that you have Pasko's SAMs and Vehicles Pak installed in your GroundObject folder; either or both the Desert or Euro skinned vehicles, plus any additional vehicles such as Kesselbrut's ZIL truck pak, Infantry paks, Moonjumper's fix for the BM-14-16 (adds working Kytusha rockets) and any other SAMS or AAA, vehicles or whatever strikes your fancy.
It has been tested in all 1st Gen Sims (SF/WoV/WoE/ at 10/08 patch levels) and SF2 (merged).. It should work in FE & WoI (also post Expansion Pak and Post Patch) with the correct cat pointer -- this has NOT been tested, however. It should will work in SF2, as long as you adjust the cat pointer lines in the main ini, and 'reroute' the terrain effect pointer (more on that in the install instructions, below). However, with the old style terrain effects, it works just fine.
Yes, for those expecting it, there IS at least one Easter Egg on this terrain ...
MAKE SURE YOU THOROUGHLY READ THE README ON HOW TO USE IT IN ALL SIMS! or you will be clowned...big time.....

Southern Ukraine and Crimean Peninsula Terrain
By Gepard
Donbass Beta 0.40
*****************************************************
Southern Ukraine and Crimean Peninsula Terrain
THIS IS STILL A BETA VERSION!!!!
============================
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This terrain is written for SF2E. It works well with SF2NA.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I. Short description:
The south and the east of the Ukraine are battlegrounds in mid 2022. At the moment nobody knows how the war will end.
This terrain covers the most parts of the Ukraine and some parts of the Russian Federation. But only the southern war theater and the crimean peninsula are included in this terrain so far. Airfields and some other target areas are placed on the map. Further improvements will come.
I made the airfields in their shape as realistic as possible. Only 3 airfields are more or less freestyle.
At the moment the terrain is made for scenarios around the Crimean peninsula. Offensive operations are more focused for the ukrainian side. In ukrainian strike missions you can fly against airfields, factories, depots, Sewastopol harbour and support facilities and a dense SAM network.
For the russian side you can only fly against enemy airfields.
At the moment possible mission types are: Sweep, CAP, Escort, Intercept, Recon, Strike and SEAD missions.
The terrain is set as NavalMap=FALSE, but it is prepared for NavalMap=TRUE. If you use SF2NA as basic game you may change the setting, so that carrier vs carrier operations will be possible.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
II. INSTALLATION:
To run this terrain you need SF2NorthAtlantic or SF2 Israel or SF2 Europe.
Unzip all files into your saved game folder ...ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2XXXX
Thats it.
If you have SF2Europe installed you must do nothing more.
If you miss SF2E and have SF2Israel you must open file
Donbass.ini
with Notepad editor and look for the lines:
//CatFile=..\IsraelME\IsraelME.cat
CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat
change the entry into:
CatFile=..\IsraelME\IsraelME.cat
//CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat
save the file

Timor, North Oceania (1950-2018) Terrain
August 13th, 2018 (1st Release)
by Menrva
>For Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam, Recommended Full-5 Merged
This is a complete remake of the Modern Darwin terrain made by Wrench.
A better and more complete tileset has been added, improving the looks of Northern Australia with the introduction of desert and barren valleys. Various rivers and lakes have been hand-tiled and mimic Real World courses. Now the island of Timor has a lot of bases to take-off from. Numerous target areas, such as emergency airstrips and civilian airports, have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range.
This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look.
The terrain spans from August 17, 1950 (when President Sukarno proclaimed a single unitary Republic of Indonesia) to December 31, 2018; it is designed for fictional clashes between ANZUS/SEATO forces (namely Australia and New Zealand) and a random pool of Red Side countries (namely Indonesia and China).
Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible; for instance, some airfields will appear only after a certain year, according to historic changes. If you have SF2NA, naval fleets might spawn in the Timor Sea. Also, Off Map Airbases have been added and long range AI flights can be generated from them. All main targets have been placed accurately in their Real World locations.
Ground Objects are not included. You can obtain the most needed from Wrench's original Modern Darwin terrain release.

-MigBuster, I have included some of his great hi-res textures for runways.
-Stary, for the hi-res PTO tileset he made, which I have reworked and expanded.
-Brain32, for the gorgeous VietnamSEA tileset repaint he made, from which I borrowed a few tiles.
-Centurion-1, Spudknocker and tiopilotos, for the impressive tileset they made for the Angola terrain, from which I borrowed some tiles.

-comrpnt, for his Approach and Airfield Lighting Pack mod packages for SF1 series, which I reworked and included.
Because the original terrain was made and tweaked numerous times by Wrench, I included the ReadMe files from his original packages, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not.

By Menrva
Madagascar, Southeast Africa (1977-2018) Terrain
December 13th, 2017 (1st Release)
by Menrva
>For Strike Fighters 2: Europe, Recommended Full-5 Merged
This is a complete remake of the AE terrain made by Deuces and Dave, further tweaked by Wrench.
The entire map has been retargetized and extensively retiled; Mozambique is now a lush green jungle, not a barren desert as seen in the original. The Comoros and Mayotte islands now properly exist and are carefully populated by towns and airports. Numerous target areas have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range.
This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look.
The terrain spans from May 30, 1977 (the beginning of the Mozambican Civil War) to December 31, 2018. Despite the given time frame, this terrain is not right for reproducing the Mozambican Civil War. Instead, the terrain is meant to pit the French Navy against the combined forces of Mozambique and Madagascar in a what if scenario where the Comoros and Mayotte islands are being threatened by the two Soviet-aligned countries.
The French (Blue Side) only have four flyable airfields. Don't even try to fly Blue Side long-range bombers from said small airfields; I am providing a rather realistic representation of the area, where the French are tasked with the defence and patrol of the skies above the Comoros and Mayotte islands.
Having SF2NA is a must, as I have enabled naval ops. If your mod's folder contains French ships and carriers, you'll see fleets being generated during single missions.
Ground Objects are not included. It's up to the user to find and obtain anything that can be useful for the proposed terrain's scenario.
>Credits (in no particular order):

Sweden, Baltic Rim (2004-2018) Terrain
March 13th, 2018 (1st Release)
by Menrva
>For Strike Fighters 2: Europe, Recommended Full-5 Merged
This is a complete remake of the Sweden terrain made by gillg, but set after the Cold War era.
What began as a simple tiling bugfix, for JonathanRL's The Scandinavian Front mod, turned out to be a huge overhaul upon noticing a number of inaccuracies. The terrain has been retargetized and hand-tiled to a good extent; major changes have been done to the Baltic states, which were pretty inaccurate in terms of target locations. Some rivers have been added and/or retiled to mimic Real World courses. Numerous target areas, including airports and highway strips, have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range.
This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look.
The terrain spans from March 30, 2004 (the beginning of NATO's Baltic Air Policing) to December 31, 2018; it is designed for The Scandinavian Front's scenarios by JonathanRL, taking place after the Cold War era.
This terrain is a standalone version of the one which will be included in the last iteration of the TSF mod package by JonathanRL. The terrain that will be included in the TSF mod package will likely differ slightly from this one, so users are advised to keep that in mind. Also, this terrain uses only a single tileset. The TSF's version will use different tilesets according to the season, as originally designed by our fellow modder, Stary.
Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible; for instance, some airfields won't be available after a certain date and/or will change name according to historic changes. Off Map Airbases have been added and long range AI flights can be generated from them, if you have SF2NA. Most of the main targets have been placed accurately in their Real World locations. Due to the complexity of the area, some inaccuracies are to be expected, but I did my best!
Ground Objects are not included. Download JonathanRL's The Scandinavian Front mod package to have all that you need for this scenario.
>Credits (in no particular order):
-gillg, who created this terrain and whose work I have admired during my rework. I can only imagine how much time he spent on tiling roads and rivers from scratch!
-JonathanRL, for his exceptional TSF2 mod package, which prompted me to do something to help improve it.
-Wrench, as he is always glad to help us fellow terrain modders. Thank you, sir!
-swambast, who provided me with invaluable help in tracking and fixing common and uncommon bugs.
-gerwin, whose TFDtool has proved to be essential in today's terrain making. If the terrain is pretty accurate to RL it's also because of him. I included his very nice Airfield 7+8 Addon Pack, too.
-mue, for the improved shaders he made, which I have included and reworked for the terrain, and for the tools he made for SF2 modding.
-luk1978, for the waternormal bitmap he shared at the SF2 screenshots thread. Your mods are very interesting!
-MigBuster, I have included some of his great hi-res textures for runways.
-Stary, for the wonderful tileset he made exclusively for the original Sweden terrain included in the TSF mod package.
-Gepard, for his great tutorials about terrain making, in the SF1 Knowledge Base at CombatACE. It's a gold mine!
-tiopilotos and Stratos, who always support me during my terrain remakes. Thank you, guys!
-krfrge, who has produced a tutorial for recreating SF2-like planning maps, which prompted me to work on templates and my own high quality planning maps. Thank you very much!
-comrpnt, for his Approach and Airfield Lighting Pack mod packages for SF1 series, which I reworked and included.
Because this terrain is a rework of gillg's fantastic creation, I included his ReadMe file from his original package, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not.
>Disclaimer:

South East Europe BETA
By strahi
This is a Beta mod, anyone who wants to help and finish it, thank you in advance. Also for campaigns that I failed to activate due to strategic nodes, ground troops are therefore inactive. I hope that someone will not resent me because I used some elements from other mods, all with the best intention to bring the best possible atmosphere to everyone on the forum here. Thank you for your understanding. I also thank my development team, first of all Stratos, Tiopilotos and others.

SF2:I IsraelME Terrain Remod
By Wrench
SF2:I IsraelME Terrain Remod 6/1/2015
= For SF2:I (or any Merged Install) =
**Note: This Is A MODERN (1948 and Later) Version -ONLY-!!!**
This is a remod of the stock SF2:I IsraelME terrain. It has been extensively retiled, target areas have been expanded and enhanced and so on. BE ADVISED: at this time, it's unknown of these terrain mods will break campaigns-in-progress. To be safe, back up any campaigns-in-progress inis.
It is designed to replace, and expand, the existing stock 3W terrain.
Stock in-game items have been used as much as possible, although some additional structrues HAVE been added. Add-on GroundObjects, while heavily listed in the _Types.ini, aren't included (really, there ARE -none- included -use the ones from the Israel 2 terrain remod, as they're the same). Its up to the End User to make sure that you have the theatre-specific (read: Israeli & Arab states) proper items. SF2:I is REQUIRED for this terrain (DOH!), as it references a myriad of IsrealME -only- terrain items.
A massive amount of retiling has been performed, with the addition of over 60 new tiles to fill in blanks left in the original set. BE ADVISED: these new tiles match the STOCK styling =ONLY=!! Do NOT use these new tiles in/on any IME terrain with any other tile set. They will not match!!
Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life courses, be placed in their Real Life locations, may visually defy gravity and other Universal Laws of Physics, or exist at all. Several cities and other physical features and target areas will also fall into that classification. Some target areas (cities, etc) exist only as named places, even if they might have had strategic or tactical values. You may also experience longer loading times; this is to be expected.
As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended (ie: REQUIRED!!!) you read the document through after unzipping, but =before= installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section makes for essential reading.
It's most important that the legal disclaimer at the bottom be read and complied with. There has been a change in policy with regards to =ALL= my terrain mods.
Happy Landings!

WW2 Europe Terrain for SF2 (aka: EAW Euro)
By Wrench
WW2 Europe Terrain for SF2 (aka: EAW Euro)
- For SF2, Any & All (*Full-4/5 Merged Reccomended*)
This is a rebuild of the WW2 EAW Europe map. It has extensive retargeting and retiling (read: new tiles created, albeit in the original "BN series") In essence, approximatley 98.6% of the terrain and targeting has been revised in some fashion.
It has been brought (as much as possible) up to SF2 standards, at the July 2012 patch level. There are, however, some height field issuses that are unresolvable; so End Users are advised to ignore them. All airfield inis, while retaining them original name, have been brought to the most recent patch level, and will generate parked aircraft.
If you have the original version, or any of my updated versions, it's suggested you move THAT terrain sub-folder to a storage section, rename it, or delete it from your WW2 ETO mods folder. This version =WILL= completly replace it. In MUCH greater detail...
This is a fairly large map, covering Western Europe from the German/Polish border in the east to the Irish Sea in the west, and a far north as York in the UK, and the Bay of Biscay/Alps in the south (including Bordeaux). Several target areas in the farthest S/E region (south of the Italian Alps) have been removed for playability. As can ALWAYS be expected, there =ARE= Easter Eggs scattered across the map.
This map makes use of =BOTH= the LimitedNations and AllowedMission statements. There are =NO= CAS or other Ground Attack mission tasking, other than Armed Recon and Anti-Shipping. Strike, of course, for the bombers, remains (exceedingly!) valid. Armed Recon mission are constrained to within approximately 100km of the coastlines (more or less) for BOTH sides.
*Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life courses, or be placed in their Real Life locations. Several cities and other physical features (mountains, vallies, coastlines, forests, roads, etc) may also fall into this classification; Some populated places may exist only as "named places" on the map. This was done for historical reasons. Many airfields/airports, some of historical significance, may also be not existant or placed in the Real Life locations due to tiling constraints.*
When in-game, you'll see "Europe, WWII" on the terrain selection dropdown window.
Some GroundObjects are included (ships mostly); these are the same ones that are in the recently released ETO/MTO Ships pak. When installing, just allow the Overwrite.
It's reccomended you unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you read the document through after unzipping, but =BEFORE= installing.
As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading.
Please also read the New Standard Usage Discalimer, as it's been changed slightly to reflect changes in my policy. It's listed at the bottom, in the Legal Statement Section, with the URL back to the CA post.
Good Hunting!

MidWest USA Terrain for SF2

MidWest USA Terrain for SF2
= For SF2, Any and All (Full-4 Merged Reccomended)
This map represents the Central section of the North American continent; from the Great Lakes in the east as far west/north as Regina SK, and as far south as Tulsa Oklahoma (destroyed/occupied) and pretty much all points in-between. The original base map, centered around Omaha, Nebraska, is/was the basis for FastCargo's "Super Secret Mod". This is a =highly= expanded version. Rivers include the Mississippi, Missouri, Platte, Assiniboine & Soruis, all the waterways and canals interconnecting the Great Lakes, and so forth. Lots to see and do here!!!
The map takes place in a "What If..." world of a partly Occupied America; something along the lines of "The Wingman" novels, the TV series 'Jericho', the movie "Red Dawn" (always a favorite!) and any number of Post-Apocalyptic scenarios. It will fit any timeframe from the mid-1950s through the Present Day (ie: my "Global Sedition vs the North American Alliance" kinda thing).
This map make use of the Limited Nations statement, as well as the Allowed Mission Type. This is due to there =not= being any shipping routes for the Blue side to attack; all those routes are within Blue territory, so only the Red side can use them. All others are active.
Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life courses, or be placed in their Real Life locations, or even exist as such. Several cities and other physical features may also fall into that classification (ie: mountains, hills, valleys, etc). Some cities may also NOT have all their proper Real Life industries, facilities and other building classifications, or be fully loaded with 'target objects'. Accuracy has been strived for in all cases, to reflect the Real World . As much as is possible with this Engine.
This map also makes use of the 'Expanded Borders' mod, wherein you make changes to the FlightEngine.ini. Instructions on making this adjustment are included (if you haven't already).
Several 'new' GroundObjects are included, some modified from others, some you may already have. All are SF2 compliant and may not be 'down convertable' for 1stGen usage. As I don't mod 1stGens anymore ... Many more GOs are required; you should have them already for other terrain mods. If not, its up to YOU to get them. All the usual suspects, of course (SAMs, vehicles, ships, AAA units, truck, tanks, dinosaurs, etc)
As expected, there are several Easter Eggs -- you'll find them if you look hard enough. As a matter of fact, the largest Easter Eggs =EVER= placed on ANY terrain in SF series history are on this map.
There are also several target items that will "turn on" after a set year; this being the year of construction or start-of-existence (for a certain shipping company, some buildings and bridges).
As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended (ie: REQUIRED!!!) you read the document through after unzipping before installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading. It's most important that the disclaimer be read, as there are a couple of 'permisison only' items used, that CANNOT be used elsewhere with their creator' approval.
Happy Hunting!

Baltika's Full-Scale New Zealand Terrain for SF2
By Baltika
New Zealand Full-Scale Terrain
by Baltika
beta v 0.8
********************************
INSTALLATION:-
For SF2 series, drop the NZ folder into the "Terrains" folder in the Mod folder.
The default NZ_data.ini file is set up for SF2.
If you are unfamiliar with the Mod folder concept in SF2, read this:-
http://combatace.com/topic/62302-what-is-the-mod-folder/
*********************************
For WoX/SFP1 series, drop the NZ folder into your Terrain folder in your main game install.
Use the NZ_DATA.INI file in the "Use in WoX" folder.
*********************************
CREDITS:-
Deuces for his Germany_CE tileset repaint which is the core tileset used here.
Stary for his Forests and Farms mod which has been extended for use here.
All the gang at Combatace. Not a hobby, more a way of life ;-)
*********************************
Baltika's musings:
Ironically, this is one of the first terrain projects I started, but has taken a very long time to reach this stage. Other things have taken priority at various times, but I always came back to this. I confess it has been sitting on my hard drive for some time. I have reviewed various WIPs and decided that, given the development lead in time for terrain projects is so long, it is better to release such projects as they reach advanced beta stage.
Targetisation is rather "cut & paste" for now. I will update the targets.ini as and when time permits. Meantime, all tiling work is finished, all runways plotted and flattened, and all target areas set. All mission types are activated for Red and Blue flyable forces.
Comments, feedback, bug reports and Single Malt Whisky to Baltika ;-)
Real life purists may wish to note that there are various remnants of the Third Age crumbling in the mountains - although some of them still have bite, so fly carefully!
Slàinte mhòr!

Himalaya Terrain
By Wrench
Himalaya Terrain Updates, For SF2 Series (& SF/Wo*, too!)
I was unable to find the readme that came with Major Lee's original release, so this will have to suffice. This terrain was first released in 2004.
Some modifications and the like for Major Lee's Himalaya terrain, updating tileing, targeting, movements and suchlike. Designed for use in a Full-4 Merged SF2 install. It should, however, work just fine in standard unmerged installs, and with some editating, in all 1stGen series as well.
As stated above, this is the FULL terrain, with all internal objects needed. You simply need to unzip and install. Some new tiles have been added to make it look a bit more 'lived in', and several new target areas have been added (cause everyone needs someone to bomb...). All the inis have been updated, and a new Movements.ini created for CAS and Armed_Recon missions. This map also makes use of the LimitedNations and LimitedMissions statements for both sides, so you won't have any Anti-ship missions since the nearest ocean is like 1500+ miles to the south. You will also be extracting and editing the game's Nations.ini to add the new nation of Nepal. A new Nepalese ground unit is also supplied.
This terrain mod, while designed for SF2 merged installs, is easily back-dated for use in all 1st Gen SF/SFG/Wo* game installs at the 08 Patch Level. You'll just need to change the shader statments; instructions are below. No editing is necessary for the ground objects; other than having the guns and weapons for the infantry unit.
Also added are several new tiles, creating some cities, hills and mountains, rivers for the region, and filling in the Kathmandu valley with farms and fields. The northern, higher elevations (heading into Tibet and China), while having a city or 2, are still predominantly snow/rock fields. Some liberties have been taken with target placements, but they are named correctly, and more or less in their Real Life locations. Give or take a few dozen kilometers, and several thousand meters in altitude. This terrain mod contains 2 of the highest altitude airbases in any mod ... fly accordingly!
It is ALSO highly reccomended you READ this entire document through before installing this mod. Especially the Notes section. If you don't, you're SURE to run into problems. And then, we'll clown on you. Hard and mercilessly.
Happy Landings!
