  2. This little modification is my tweak to several textures from "ODS" Iraq/Piecemeal's Desert3 terrains.
     
    Created with "Updated Default SF2 Terrain by Piecemeal V 1.2" in mind, this pack changes the look of desert-to-mountain transitions tiles, making them much more sloped rocks thus standing out from surrounding sands. Tile-specific heightmap files (_HM) used to achieve more detailed mesh displacement.
    Matter of one's preferences, it's one of those not necessary optional mods ;)
     
    All the transition textures are based on work by Deuces for original ODS terrain, further used in Piecemeal's Desert3 update of stock SF2 Parani/Dhimari map.

  3. This mod is full two-seasons (wet, dry) tileset and treemod created for Gepard's "Formosa Strait" terrain.
     
    You need Gepard's Formosa terrain available here:

    The tiles are 512x512 resolution to maintain good performance on older systems, but as they were downsampled from their 1024x1024 originals, maintain good quality.
     
    This mod includes it's own, smoother terrain height data, but original rough version is also provided as an option.
     
    Also includes new TFD file, which introduces "large empty fields" in western Taiwan.
     
    Both smaller and bigger trees included, the latter as default for rich lush ground cover.
     
    Includes optional tweak for experimental clear day fog.

  4. This is re-release of my tileset for Gepard's Formosa Strait/Taiwanhaxia map.
     
    These are the original "lost and found" tiles I created in 2010 for Taiwan and released previously in downscaled 512 version.
     
    Included are two seasons, all the .tods (trees, buildings; both in small and big versions), necessary inis and other bits and pieces from the original release, slightly tweaked here and there. Oh, slightly different trees graphics too.
     
    You can install this either into clean version of Gepard's terrain, or into your existing already modded Formosa
    (that is with the !RECOMMENDED! Wrench's fixes and tweaks, my previous tileset/treemod)

  5. This is small update to my HR GermanyCE 4-seasons terrain released in 2009.
     
    Purpose of this update is to replace trees and buildings graphics with new ones, hopefully for the better feel and looks.
    Also included are reworked .TOD files (files determinating population of tiles with objects) that make the trees more real-life size (as for Central Europe) and correct several tiles layout. As of some patches back, alpha-channel for buildings seems not supported, I removed all the "tricky" buildings that were using the apha channel for transparency effects (some fake lame windmills etc).
     
    Includes GermanyCE.ini and GermanyCE_data.ini files, updated to newest standards.

  7. 512x512 Tiles for CA_Stary's Enhanced SF2:Israel terrain.
     
    This should help any of you with weaker computers. Still looks good and you get a performance increase.

  8. This is a simple 512X512 tile resize of Rends /Stary's 1024X1024 Germany tile set.
    All artistic credit goes to Rends and Stary for creating these beautiful tiles,I simply resized them.
     
    These are tiles only... you will need rends full terrain to make this conversion work correctly.

    Install the full terrain as per instructions in the original readme.
     
    Back up your original GermanyCE folder in case you do not like this mod and want to go back to 1024.
     
    The GermanyCE folder should be located here: Saved games/ ThirdWire/StrikeFighters2 Europe/Terrains/GermanyCE
     
    Unpack this mod to your desktop
     
    Copy the contents of each( season folder) to its corresponding folder i.e.- Spring to Spring / Summer to Summer.
     
    Purpose of this mod?
     
    My SF2 settings are set to maximize Eye candy, and immersion at the expense of frames per second. I run detail mesh settings at 16 to 24 and in some patch levels I run increased horizon draw distances of up to 200000.0----- I have struck a careful balance that keeps my frame rates just in the playable range. Rends awesome, highly detailed Germany pushed the frame rates into the unplayable range with these settings, so I undertook some experimentation to increase fps.
     
    Thru tightening my RAM speed settings and using these resized tiles I have seen a small improvement that puts the FPS back into the playable range. However takeoffs at certain airbases can still be a bit choppy.
    I believe that RAM speed is very important with this terrain and its high object density.
     
    These resized tiles may be of benefit to those who have older computers, or those who run high detail mesh sizes.

  9. 512x512 Tweaked Tiles for CA_Stary's Enhanced SF2:Israel terrain.
     
    Originally created by CA_Stary, resized by Dave, optimised by me. Note: these *.bmp tiles are 512x512 in size with 8 bit color pallete.Includes TGA tiles from Dave's effort. This should help any of you with even very weak computers.Looks almost as good as Dave's resize but you get even bigger performance increase.
     
    Installation:
     
    Drop the bitmaps and TGA files in IsraelME folder and allow for overwrite.
     
    Now go and down some pesky MIGs :)

  10. Optimised Tiles for SF2V Air & Ground War Expansion Pack v2.0 Gold
     
    These tiles are for malibu43 & eburger68's excellent SF2V Air & Ground War Expansion Pack v2.0 Gold. They have been optimised for a 8-bit color pallette for a 66.6% reduction in size and memory consumption - just for you folks with them older graphic cards! And they look 99.9% as good as the original ones so you won't be compromising on quality!
     
    INSTALLATION:
     
    Unpack the archives and drop BMP & TGA files to your Terrains/VietnamSEA & Terrains/SouthVietnam folders and allow for overwrite.

  12. This is simple addition of two more seasons (fall, winter) for my Formosa visual update mod. Created as simple 4-seasons tileset test for other project, I decided to upload it for everyone wanting to have "full seasons" tileset for this excellent map. Or to use it in other, more appropriate (climate wise) theatres.
     
    "Formosa Strait Taiwanhaixia" map was created by Gepard. Remember there are great fixes by Wrench, The. Apply these
     
    To install simply extract this package and move the files from the Formosa folder to
    your choosen Strike Fighters 2 MOD folder/terrains/Formosa folder, overwrite when asked.
     
    As this is just simple tiles pack, should work with Series1 too, but I don't have any installed at the moment to confirm.
     
    And sorry for not releasing it in DDS format, it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks

    Designed for stock SF2:Vietnam VietnamSEA and Modern Darwin map by Wrench
     
    Apart from these, should work with older maps using WoV/SF2:V tileset -Burma, Philippines etc in every sim from the series apart FE.

    This is version 3.0 of my Green Hell mod for SF2:V
    After doing some work for Wrench's Darwin map, I decided to go fullscale, re-use my older tileset, finish the tod files, adjust several things and release this as part three.
     
    In comparision to previous incarnations of the mod that relied on fabulous tileset by Brain32, this one uses different tileset, based on stock one, thus changing the look significantly if you're familiar with GH series. My goal was to create universal tileset for South East Asia terrains.
    Also, as with every new patch old rendering bugs remain unchanged [:(] I decided to change the way of populating tiles, whidh is clearly visible in the jungle areas. No more large clusters of trees, replaced with smaller individual trees to minimize the possibility of rendering errors.
     
    As a bonus included are new environment system (based on great fork by ShrikeHawk) with reduces size of clouds and increased minimum altitude of these, to further minimize famous "trees vs clouds" rendering errors. Also I added new menu screens with GH3 theme I use in my SF2V install.

  14. Enhanced GermanyCE tileset -no trees for grass (R-type) tiles
     
    fix/addon to my GermanyCE enhanced tileset.
     
    This is quick fix that removes trees from R-type (in original TW tileset empty grass only) tiles.
     
    As most seem to be using custom GermanyCE_tagets.ini file(s) with various airfields added (like those in Nato Fighters 4+ or others) I did this fix.
     
    This will also allow future usage of my tileset by modders working on new campaigns with even more new airfields planned, yet to be released.
     
    To install simply unzip to your mods installation GermanyCE folder, overwrite when asked. You can also delete the GermanyCE.TFD file that came with my GermanyCE tileset (no custom tiles layout needed)

    (should work with any maps created using stock "Desert.cat" tileset, series1 backward compatible format)
     
    This is set of 1024x1024 tiles created for Wrench's Texas/Occupied Mexico terrain (known as ASW -America South West)
     
    Right now being sort of fully functioning beta, it does not include dedicated/borrowed tod files ("treemod") due to my lack of time

  16. This is set of satellite based 1024x1024 tiles created for India/Pakistan terrain by Deuces and Wrench
     
    Best to be used in dedicated India/Pakistan (AKA "Wings Over India") stand alone mod, but can be added to any install that has India/Pakistan map added into it.
    This pack assumes you do have installed and tested (flown over at least once) "Indiapak" map.
     
    Right now TODs and their placement is as they were for original terrain release, but they do work quite well.
    Also given the scope of the terrain portrayed and it's physical diversity I had to make some compromises.

  17. Redid the stock Iceland ground textures I am not sure what the engine can do yet but I hope it can support more then 2 maps.
     
    I increased the res to 1024x1024 so loading times may be a bit higher.

  18. I liked Starys mod but thought the winter tilesets weren't wintery enough to my liking so I made my own set of hard winter tiles.
     
    To use, just drop these into the GermanyCE folder and they should unpack to their own winterhard folder.
     
    Then open up the GermanyCE.ini file and change

  22. Iran-Iraq Replacement Desert Tileset 7/3/2013
     
    -For SF2, any/all at any patch level-
     
    *Note: these tiles will also work in SF/Wo* 1stGen games for the listed terrains*
     
    This package contains nearly 60 new Desert2*** tiles, both in bmp and tga (for the seashore tiles) that will replace the original "blindingly white" desert and desert2*** transitions for the following terrains:
     
    Desert Storm
     
    Iran/Iraq
     
    Iran/Iraq 2003
     
    These are designed =ONLY= for use on the above listed terrains. Not for ANYTHING else!
     
    By using the IsraelME Desert1 & 2 as a base, these tiles are direct replacements for the originals. ALL transitions, including all river, roads, 3-ways, etc are new builds. As direct replacements, this will not effect target placements or TOD object placements.
     
    For the other Terraformers, I've included the multi-mega layered PSD with all the tile layers divided into terrain type sets (sea, mountain, road, etc).
     
    For those that wish, 3 new planning maps are included for the "IR2003" terrain. Red & Blue side will now show correctly.
     
    So as not to totally foul up one's terrain(s), it's HIGHLY advised to =READ= the install instructions after unzipping, but =BEFORE= installing them, as you've a couple of things to do first.
     
    As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!!

    mod updated to version 1.5:
     
    new in version 1.5 is TOTAL rework of tileset, all tiles replaced with new mostly satellite-based high resolution tiles
     
    some trees graphics modified to avoid size issues on various tiles (ie. Desert-to-mountain transitionals, mountain tiles)
     
    Installation:
    Unpack with 7zip to your OTC Cuba terrain folder, overwrite when asked.
     
     
    initial upload readme:
    This is >>really<< simple repaint and tweaks to OTC Cuba terrain looks.
     
    Tiles have been recoloured, upscaled to 1024^ and undergo some tricky tricks to make them appear as they have more "depth" from air.
     
    Trees have been scaled down and I replaced their graphics with better quality textures (I borrowed from my other mods) to fit the new overall tones.
     
    At one point I tried to replace some of the ground textures with better quality ones, however as they were sticking out too much from the tileset I abandoned this idea.
