Tell me about the radio chatter. Do they call out who the missiles being fired at? Is it still southern accents? Is Red Crown gone? Do the flights have new names than Rambler or Tiger or Bison?

the hit on the fps, comes from shadows more than the parked aircrafts themselves. i fly with the shadows disabled because of my rig (p4 3.4ghz, 1gig ram and a x1950xt) and it runs fairly well over populated airfileds.

 

but i wish to get a core 2 duo and a 8800gt :wink:

 

Im Running a Athlon X2 6000+ Overclocked, and a eVGA 8800 GTS SSC (G80) Overclocked, and Shadows KILLs my Fr/Sec to below 10 at certain Angles... with Shadows Off The Counter is Pegged at 59/60 Fr/Sec at the Max Res with Max GFX Settings.

 

I Dunno if its driver related in my case or not yet..

Well, install 'em and see. As FastCargo has already said the Weapons Packs don't work; in my own experiments I figured out that the game doesn't like it when you change the WEAPONDATA.DAT file (though it doesn't care about the .ini) and if it is changed, all the weapons disappear. Most of the add-on planes should work; I haven't gotten a broken plane yet, though as C5 pointed out some gauges might be missing and need to be imported. From prior posts it looks as though some of the terrain is working and some isn't, but I can't comment there.

Well, so far in my testing:

 

Terrains seem to work right way.

Enviromental mods seem unchanged.

No Weapon or Gun mods will work right now.

Aircraft are hit or miss right now. Main thing might be cockpit guage issues...ie any cockpits that use stock WOV/WOE/SFP1 textures, specifically from aircraft that are not covered at all by the stock WOI sim (F-105, F-8, F-100, F-104 to name a few) may not have textures.

Well I would think that patches that may come out for WOE/WOV/SF would cure some of those problems.

Interesting info here. I guess the new FMs with WOI can include customized stall data. I thought that's why some of the 3rd party aircraft I had been playing seemed a little funky at the edge (I actually put the F-22 into a flat spin...but got out of it with classic anti-spin controls).

 

Also, like someone else mentioned...guns can jam...neat!

Interesting to note; the Sambad is NOT flyable right off, but a quick look into the objects cat, locates a cockpit ini for it...using the F-100s!!! You migh still need to import a few bmps for the side rails, etc. Also, use the hi-rez one here.

 

All 3 Hunters are flyable...you just need the pit and ini from WoE -- they're skins look stock; standard RAF gray/green. MiGs, of course ain't nothing with Paladrains' pits :wink: I'm speaking Fishbeds of course (excepting the bis -- don't know which one to use on that) - stuck with the damn Scooter for the 17, 19. Still haven't brought the 15 in yet. Or fiddled with the Floggers.

 

The Oraguan works fine with a little weapons attachment type and loadout tweek. (hint: switch to NATO, use HVARs in place of the 60# rockets, Mk 80 series for bombs)

 

LOTS of interesting things hidding in them there cat files....

 

Looking at the types and targets ini, I find no listing for the parked planes, so they must be generated via a dll somewhere...as mentioned above.

 

Nice to see some of the new ground objects...the Centurion looks damn good! 3 different ones, too!

SAMs are the usual suspects...SA2, SA6 -- pity we didn't get a stock SA-3. But I'm sure as soon as the new weapons editor comes out...they'll be in game.

 

The terrains looks super! This almost means I can get my WoE Mid-East War installed off the HD and archived. (which means, of course, a 2nd install of WoI!!!!)

 

Can't wait to explore this more....

Yes I noticed the FM being different (not just for add on aircraft) I actually managed a proper spin in the F-16 and also recovered with anti-spin inputs ME LIKEY!! I would like to get the change figured out as my Typhoon is behaving a little odd, the leading edge slats stay deployed almost all the time and the roll rate had decreased, and it just doesn't fly as fast any more.

 

Oh and my FPS issue is much improved, silly me, should have thought to download the latest Nvidia driver, still not as good as it was in WOE but its definitely playable, killing 3 migs close in with the F-16, 2 Python kills and 1 guns.

Put the Tomcat into a flat spin, only it was after my wingman crashed into me and I lost a wing...by going hands off, the plane did nose-down and got out of the spin, but without that wing the a/c was irrecoverable. I love these features.

Unless you're flying in the F-84G, You cant reload but you can infact cock the ma deuce's from the pit

I've only just got WoI and I'm having a blast :biggrin:

 

My rig is old - and I mean OLD!!

 

I'm on an AMD 1.6GHz with 1Gb RAM and an NVidia GeForce 4 Ti4200 128Mb and so far, not a glitch. Things are fast, smooth and the terrain is great.

 

Can't wait for the Weapons Editor and Object Extractor to be made available to start adding things.

 

New Centurions look well good.

Can anybody of you nice guys that have downloaded WOI tell me if it installs itself while downloading, or if it comes as one installable file (like a patch). I prefered purchasing a Box with CD/dvd with it and some instructions but I'm not expecting to get it real soon
