I mentioned last night on a different subject that I was working on an 80s campaign for SF2. Here's the general gist of the story:

 

Operation Desert Shepherd:\nJuly 1986. With full scale conventional war raging in Europe between the superpowers, Shah Komar of Paran seizes the opportunity and proceeds with a crushing pre-emptive strike against key Dhimari positions. The US has commited its frontline units to the fight in Europe but has promised one ANG squadron which will arrive within the week. Also, the carrier USS Midway has been taken out of retirement and is already en route with VF-151 aboard. Before hostilities broke out, US Navy Aggresor squadron VF-43 had already been in Dhimar providing ACM training for the Dhimari Air Force and are fully in the fray. Not knowing exactly how or when a re-supply can take place, these are desperate times for Dhimar. Operation Desert Shepherd has begun!

 

I'm trying to create a Rawke's Drift/Zulu situation where, basically, the s**t's hit the fan and things are looking pretty grim at the outset.

I just wanted to post this onto the forum because sometimes a second opinion never hurts.

If anyone has some ideas or suggestions I'd be happy to hear them

I would love to see a new campaign. This one sounds like the one I'm developing except mine is based in 1963.

Hey, the more the merrier, bud. I've chosen the eighties myself cos I think that period has always been overlooked in this game. I got my hopes up a little when I heard there were two new campaigns. So when there no 80s campaigns I decided to try and make up for the deficit myself

I always liked the fictional story about Dhimar and Paran. Slowly, and still ongoing, my Strike Fighter install turned into a pure fictional install.

My idea was to keep all US and other guys out of the fun and keep it down to the both opponents. Dhimar, after the stock campaign, kept control of the oil fields and was therefor able to build up a small, but well equiped Army and Air Force.

Paran is still a threat, with also slightly upgraded stuff, but in much more numbers. And like in your szenario, Paran uses a fictional bad situation in europe of the end 80´s to try again the invasion of Dhimar.

And of course this (as well as the stock campaigns) will be SO much better when a new Weapons Editor is released. The power went in my area here a while ago. Just reading all the recent replies now. It's good to know that there's interest in this. Remember guys, opinions and suggestions are welcome.

*F-16A (imported F-16A Nesher and its cockpit from WOI - kept the Israeli skin but designed a different decal scheme for Dhimar)

*F-4E_75 (d/loaded the 'Desert2' skin from this site and added Dhimari decal scheme)

*Mirage 5D (I thought it was wasted in Libyan hands. Imported the Nesher cockpit from WOI)

 

Paran:

 

*MiG-23MF and MS (used the Syrian skins and added Parani markings)

*MiG-23BN (as above)

*MiG-23MLD (d/loaded from C5 and added Parani markings)

*MiG-21bis (imported from WOI and added Parani markings to the Syrian skin)

*Su-22M (d/loaded from CA - I think - and added Parani markings)

 

USAF:

*F-4ES - 174th TFS Iowa ANG (is in SF2 squadronlist)

 

USN:

*IAI F-21 Kfir - VF-43 Aggressor squadron

*F-4S - VF-151 USS Midway

Right now I am working on a campaign that features the Nimitz and her air wing from her maiden 1976-77 cruise. The USAF has all but withdrawn from Dhimar, and the Dhimari air force is severely under equipped.

Before SF2 came out, I was starting to work on a 1959 Campaign based around the Forrestal's air wing (A4D's, F8U-2's, F4D's, A3D-2's, and AD-6's) with a few USAF F-100s and a Dhimari air force composed of F-86F's, P-80C's, T-33's, F-51D's, and whatever else they could scrounge out of the garage. Mercs were present with F-86F-40's. I was going to do that campaign in a separate install with pre-1962 designations. Right now the project is on hold as I enjoy flying the revamped F-4J. Once we get that DS Mod out I have a few ideas I want to do with the old SFP1 campaign for SF2 myself. Wish we could get those mod tool sfrom TK. Also need a patch to fix a few things ie the effects.

Actualy the skins I made were for the Mirage Factory Mig-23s.

I'd give the Dhimari's MF F-16A_Blk1 and some F-5's. I'm pretty sure you could adapt the Israeli skin from the other MF F-16.

For Paran....wht not a reigment of MiG-29s?
