Why not? I was just hearing from a naval aviator today talking about how great for logistical reason it is to have aircraft used for so many purposes. No need to buy so many different parts or train people on so many different aircraft. Saves a lot of money. Money than can elsewhere to strengthen the military overall. I'm a big fan of the bug and super bug.

Yeah, true, it does save money. but the hawkeye is a specialist plane with specialization in AWACS. i also like the idea of keeping reliable and proven aircraft.

Agreed, sometimes specialization is better than trying to do everything with one airframe.

Somebody should photochop the entire fleet using only Hornets. Could even make it a troop transport, with a big net hanging from the hook.

The guys who built that model, Darren Roberts, is a friend of mine. He can build really well and cranks out some top notch work.

 

It's a crack-up listening to him describe some of his ideas and then seeing them done.

Still miss the A-7's though. i wish those were never retired and simply upgraded. pretty accurate platform for strike missions.
