Stary Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 The P-51D has an interesting userlist.... we were Mk.IIs since 1942 or 43
Gocad Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 we were Mk.IIs since 1942 or 43 I still don't think that the Polish air force was flying P-51Ds in 1946...especially not ones with USAF buzz numbers
Stary Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 I still don't think that the Polish air force was flying P-51Ds in 1946...especially not ones with USAF buzz numbers sure not in '46
Brain32 Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Actually they had some British Mustang MkIV which is basically a P-51D...
Gocad Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 (edited) While the Polish units in the RAF eventually got a certain degree of autonomy, they did not transfer to the Polish air force after the war was over. Not to mention that most of the American aircraft delivered to the RAF were scrapped right after 1945 as Britain didn't want to (or rather couldn't) buy them and there was no point returning them back to the States.
