+ianh755 Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 He didn't get out RIP Iinitial reports from eye-witnesses 100m from the impact site on the river bank say it looked like in was heading for them until the last second when it swerved away so it looks like he stayed in to avoid the onlookers. He also managed to transmit a MayDay before the crash which was acknowledged by the Tower so the crash team will have a very good idea of what happened already. Quote

+MigBuster Posted August 21, 2011 Author Posted August 21, 2011 Have seen them about 5 times over the past 4 years - really awe inspiring and one of the highlights of any show- always a privilege to get to watch them. RIP Jon Egging Quote
Skelator56 Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 It is very sad to hear about the loss of Red Arrow #4. Jon is a true hero. Words cannot describe the sorrow that all of us in the aviation community feel for Jon and his family. My prayers are with Flight Lieutenant Jon Egging's family. God bless him, and his family...may he rest in peace. Karl "Skelator" Lewis Major, USAFR and USNR (Retired) Quote
+JediMaster Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Wasn't there another incident with the Red Arrows suffering losses not too long ago? Or am I recalling something else? Quote
+MigBuster Posted August 23, 2011 Author Posted August 23, 2011 Wasn't there another incident with the Red Arrows suffering losses not too long ago? Or am I recalling something else? I think there was a collision in 2010 during practising but both pilots were okay. Quote
