Sweet!

One thing...you may want to take a look at my T-38A cockpit I did. The MAX file is available in the Modder's section and you may be able to use some of the stuff I did for it since a lot of the parts for the F-5A and T-38A were similar.

FC

Hello FC, I feel a little embarassed, but I can't find the Modder's section.. I'm only still a junior member.. so is it possible for you to send me the file?

I'm not near my PC at the moment....perhaps one of our other intrepid modders can send the file?

Super nice! Man, western jets have so much nicer cockpits :) Also, the documentary was real good jonathan! I always wondered where they got such small engines!

I keep thinking how much I hated the cockpit I built ... but then I look at this:

And I think 'Hey, its not that bad in proper colors...'

I don't actually think there is one. I've been thinking about making one when I consider myself proficient enough about it. But then again, there are a lot of good cockpit makers here by now who could equally well write one, or better yet a community effort could be made.. See my intrument repository thread..

I keep thinking there was at least something around here that had some cockpit info. When I redid the F-15C cockpit to give it a working MFD, I remember very specifically reading how to map digital counters. But I couldn't tell you where I read that. When I built the T-38 cockpit, I learned a lot looking at the MF F-5 cockpit and the associated cockpit.ini file. Which is something I regret with my T-38 cockpit because I can't find the cockpit.ini file I built for it...it had a lot of custom stuff, including working hydraulic gauges and warning lights that worked properly, Canopy warning lights, spinning knobs for heading and course adjustments, working cabin altimeter with proper variable scheduling, etc.

Annoying.

FC

PS Now that I think about it, I even had an idea on how to make it look like you were switching frequencies depending on which waypoint you were going to, with spinning knobs and everything. I didn't have a chance to test it out before I became disgusted with the cockpit entirely....

@sophocles

That throttle just looks great. F-5A was such an interesting plane, and in so many services, it deserves this type of attention.

@squid

I never thought much of the F-5 until I watched that video and then took one for a spin in the Europe '68 campaign. Nice.

Are those renders or from the viewport?

These are skylight renders; I'm planning to bake some lighting into the release textures.
