I found the quote below in the caption of another copy of the video.

 

"Eight sailors were injured aboard the USS Eisenhower when an arresting cable snapped during an E-2C Hawkeye's landing in March 2016."

Oh man that was intense.

Nope. But I was having flashbacks watching that!!

 

Son #1 is on the Ike at the moment.

 

Good thing those engines always run at 100% rpm - no spool up time, instant power!

 

I imagine they needed to replace their flight suits

 

And 8 deck crew were injured, some fairly seriously from the account.

How does that happen though? Cords snapping.

 

I'm not saying anyone is at a fault. Shit happens. I'm just wondering if it's wear and tear over the years or if something just gave out at the wrong time before the crew could find it.

The report indicates several failures in maintenance procedures.  Human errors.

A bit, but knowing you and your crew only had a scare while sailors below actually received serious injuries will temper that quite a bit.
