View File F-105D Hill AFB updated skins DELETE THE OLD HILL AFB SKINS FOR THE UPDATED ONES TO SHOW UP Updated Hill AFB skins for the SF2 F-105D This is an update for Daddyairplanes´ Hill Afb Skins (http://combatace.com/files/file/13741-f-105d-hill-afb-skins/) that I did, and are uploaded with DAs permission. The main changes from the previous version are added details and weathering as well as restoring missing rivet and panel lines. So 90% of the credit goes to Daddyairplanes, I only did a visual tuneup. Happy flying, Centurion aka Mats Liljeroos 31. May 2013 ORIGINAL README: Semi Historical Hill AFB F-105D Skins The 466th TFS, USAF Reserve, was lhe last operator of the F-105 Thunderchief. They flew their last mission before converting to the F-16A in 1983. Due to how long they flew the 'Thud' and their proximity to Ogden Air Logistics Center, where many aircraft go to be repainted, they flew 3 Thuds in colors other than the traditional SEA camo. Those schemes (SEA Wraparound, European 1, and a one off Desert scheme based on the pattern of the first two) are represented here. Also provided are black tailcode for the 466th ('HI') and 50 black serial numbers. Sorry only 50 as the Thud was getting rarer by that time. The first 10 serials are historical with the first 3 being the ones used by the aircraft so painted. the other 40 numbers are redone TW serials spanning FY59-62. This is not a completely accurate rendition, the pattern is different than T.O. 1-1-4 states for SEA Wraparound and Euro 1. What I did was to wraparound the stock skin, then swap the colors (as was done IRL). I also did not do the nose art's for the aircraft due to other commmitments, and lack of time. Much credit goes to : ludo.54m for his templates, which allowed me more freedom to color while keeping the panel lines and rivets Soulfreak, both for the idea and material support with references TK for the stock bird and decals the greater CA community for support and education over the years Included in the mod are Desert, Euro 1 and SEA Wraparound skins my Expanded Squadronlist.ini, which puts 466th TFS as selectable in menu the Photoshop templates I used to create this mod. Installation unzip the files, copy and paste to the appropriate folders. Allow merging of Aircraft and Decal folders. Enjoy Thank you for downloading this mod! daddyairplanes aka Kevin Unruh 16 Jan 2013 Submitter Centurion-1 Submitted 05/31/2013 Category F-105

It would seems based on my googling that the early Su-17/20 were still painted black, not blue, and otherwise appeared a lot more archaic. The M4 on the other hands looks quite "modern", it resembles the Su-25 actually very much. Maybe Starys excellent MiG-15/17 cockpit could be a reasonable facsimile for the SU-20? A custom build would be of course best but it's always such a PITA to do.

It looks great! I can't wait to try flying this bad boy, for some reason I really like the way the Su-20 looks! What cockpit are you going to use?

I just got into DCS even if I purchased A-10C and Black Shark 1 on Steam like a year ago when they were on sale, and I must say the flying is very impressive so far. Only got DCS:W with the A-10C so far and the training has kept me busy. The MiG-21Bis is looking like my most likely next sale along with the stand alone F-15C and Su-27. I am liking the fact that we get more Cold war era stuff, but the real money question is that who is going to make all the misc. AI planes needed to make realistic Cold War scenarios? However, even if we get a player flyable F-4 and F-104 someday and we have the MiG-21, and Bezl (sp?) decides to make the MiG-23 and Su-22 (mentioned on the ED forums) who is going to make the non-flyable MiG-21F-13/PF/PFM/MF/SM etc, the A-4s, the F-100s, the older MiGs, the F-16As and so on? Will... 1) the ED graphics team make all the AI flyables for free like the Fw190? 2) 3rd party devs make AI planes? And if so how will these be financed since they will need to be integrated to the free DCS:W? 3) modders make AI planes that get integrated for free into the free DCS:W? 4) there be "Era packs" that cost money that include AI flyables? 5) there be FC level packs of flyables modeled to lower standards that sale as a bundle? And this is not even mentioning Korean war or WW2.... If DCS:W is going to be the combat sim to end all combat sims these q's will need answers. Nevertheless, I am happy to play DCS when I want to do modern air war. Nevertheless, if there was a project, non-profit or profit, that stated that they want to make DCS: F-4E/F-8/Draken/Viggen I'd jump on that bandwagon. What DCS now needs is more devs. If you can accept a business model where talented people make aircraft for little or no profit as a spare time thing (kinda like modding) I think it will be for the betterment of all. Sorry for the rant but this has actually occupied a rather large portion of my mind since discovering DCS..

Sounds good. Wonder when EDGE and the new mapping tools will be done? -
New DLC: Iranian F-14A
Centurion-1 replied to arthur666's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Also, did anyone get it? I am being driven nuts by the F-14s in my Iran/Iraq campaign randomly selecting armnament they are not supposed to have, like Matra Super 530Fs instead of sparrows, or sometimes F model sparrows instead of E-4s.. Maybe I should get the DLC and see if it works better... -
New DLC: Iranian F-14A
Centurion-1 replied to arthur666's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
DCS is looking better by the minute.. now if only it wouldn't take a million years per new flyable aircraft... And well, AI aircraft are lacking as well tbh, we get a nice 'Nam era Huey but not a single other thing that fits the time period. Maybe somebody should start a studio to make DCS: The Cold War with a flyable F-4 and a selection of cold war era aircraft for the AI. It is a bit of a bummer that TK seems to be winding down since SF2 is currently a lot more what I want than DCS:W. If DCS even had a public map editor so we could get new areas to fly over made by the community.. -
Viper Zero reborn

Oh my lord, holy crap. Fantastic work. Just when I was thinking that maybe DCS would be nice I am reminded why Sf2 is the best: the mods and the community. -

Yep, though a pretty plane it ain't. While googling I found an interesting article on the F-102, which highlights that Dubya flew F-102s back in the day: http://www.aerospaceweb.org/question/history/q0185.shtml I actually have more respect for the guy now. -
it's good to BACKUP

Sorry to hear that you are having troubles Sophocles! I hope you can save your business! I am saddened by the financial problems that have beset Greece recently... Your F-5 is looking awesome as usual btw! -
Calm down everybody. Based one just one pic hard to do a good skin but here is a first try:

No political pissing contest please! The F-14A(M) is plenty maneuverable and everybody recognizes that so, but compared to gen 4,5+ fighters with modern FBW...well, the pilot will have his hands full. The news of R-73 integration is at least very good for the IRIAF pilots. I am going to try to make this Asia Minor II skin btw, interesting departure from the blue-toned air superiority camos of the F-14 and MiG-29...

Saw it as well on mp.net, with the caption wired To launch r73e, aim9j, aim7e4, aim23, and aim54a and upgraded avionics.. Interior pics would be nice. Awesome scheme!

Yeah MiG-29 will be included, the one that is in the latest MiG-29 pack by Dast is very good IMHO!

Templates making
Centurion-1 replied to FLOGGER23's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Yeah go for it! BTW how's the MiG-23BN temps? Do you think I should upload the Tu-22 templates you sent me? I tweaked them some but the majority of work is ofcourse yours.
