  1. Yes, Boresight. I am in the first training campaign in Miramar. I don't have this immersion feeling since I played Strike Commander, but this time is better, because now I fly an F-14 instead of an F-16 (The Tomcat is my favorite jet fighter ) The actors are funny, and nice to see the same guy from the movie here (this time he is called Hondo). I will keep flying the Tomcat! PD: I see that you fly FSX as well. What about that F-14X, TackPack and NAS Miramar combination? Are there any Top Gun training missions for FSX? (You can answer me through PM because this topic is for classic 1990 sims)
  2. Carriers at war? I didnt know it but I will search for it and give it a try. Theese days I am trying Top Gun: Fire at will (the one we were talking about). It is great! I like the immersion (I wish I could have in its time). I found a cheat for it. You can edit your savegames files with the notepad and change the number of the mission where you are stuck.
  3. I found another interesting feature in 1942: The Pacific Air War, by Microprose. There was a strategy/simulation mode where you can plan your carrier operations and take part of the battle flying in one of the planes (if you want). I never saw that again in any other sim.
  4. Thanks for the answer Geezer. And nice work!
  5. Anybody else had fun with Chuck Yeagers Air Combat? Man, I loved that sim!
  6. Awesome scenes! What kind of planes are those Chinese dive bombers attacking the ships?
  7. Thanks for the info Boresight, I will give it a try to Top Gun: Fire at will. Another flight sim that gave me great plot/history and immersion was Strike Commander.
  8. Boresight, you say Top Gun Fire at will? I always wanted to play that sim but never could find it back then. It looks great because I am a Tomcat fan. Now, it is easier to find but I am not sure if I would enjoy it because its age.
  9. What a good memories! My first flight sim was Flight Simulator 4. Then came Chuck Yeagers Air Combat, Fleet Defender, LHX, Aces of the Pacific, and a lot more... I realize that then were a sim for each era and scenario, they were more specific (WW1, WW2 Pacific, WW2 Europe, Desert Storm, Cold War...) Now we have "a few" sims, but their content is almost every aviation era. Examples: il-2 with CUP: From WW1 to Vietnam and some moder jets Strike Fighters: Almost every conflict and scenario since WW2 FSX: All the world Now we have a lot of content in a few sims. Then we had a lot of sims with less content.
  10. Sad news. I hope anyway YAP missions become freeware or payware from another legal site. It is a pitty to lose all that well deatiled missions.
  11. I love this sim! Everytime there was an special offer I purchased a pack of planes. Now I have them all!
  12. Finally I can see the face of "Betty".
  13. It is great! I downloaded it and flew it. I love that plane, it is one of my favorites.
  14. Awesome! The hangars of our hard disks are waiting for this plane :-)
  15. I was inside the plane at the National Air Museum in Buenos Aires in 1987. Last year I was again in the museum and the plane is still there, but now it is not possible to see it inside. The front door is closed.
  16. Nice plane. I was inside one of them in Argentina. My father's first flight was aboard one Bristol Freighter when he was in the Argentine Army in the early 60s. I like that plane :-)
  17. So...Who will be the substitute for the Kiowas?
  18. Does that new MIG-25PD include its own cockpit? Or it is only a new 3d model?
  19. Interesting story. This reminds me the book "Ghosts of the air", written by Martin Caidin.
