  1. That's easy to fix in user-created (scripted) missions: http://combatace.com/topic/43084-ship-lighting/
  2. You cannot "populate" an existing model, as all the addons that you've mentioned are by necessity, part of the model's .lod file. In short, new models are required. Marcelo's Kiev has parked Yak-38s and Ka-27s arrayed around the flight deck, though no crew members, and no lights. Lights can either be incorporated into a new model (though they'll always be on), or added to a model on a per-mission basis, using the method outlined by OldDiego in the modder's forum. The latter method allows them to turn on and off with light level, as they are effectively part of a "virtual" aircraft model.
  3. They had trouble even keeping paint on the damned thing as it was...
  4. There is a cure............upgrade to Windows 7
  5. Happy Birthday, Henrick....
  6. I was poking fun at Wrench's spelling of the name....
  7. They actually named an aircraft after someone's scrotum?
  8. How long is two weeks? From a modder's perspective, quite often not long enough.....
  9. Chapter 2: http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2010/11/the_wreck_of_the_lady_mary_cha_1.html
  10. All the "other games" you're running are undoubtedly not as CPU intensive as Third Wire's titles. Lower the Horizon distance to normal in the options panel, that'll increase frame rates. The other thing is, why are you forcing DX9? Are you running Windows XP? All the SF2 titles (patched to the latest versions) run a lot faster under DX10.
  11. The "_holes" prefix is no longer used. The format now is simply "TextureName_damage.DDS"
  12. And you think that's a new & original concept? How about a 39-year old western, starring one of the staples of the genre (Charles Bronson)...teaned up with a Samurai? http://www.fandango.com/redsun_v40749/summary
  13. This is the first installment of a multi-part series on the tragic (and suspicious) sinking of a scallop boat, on our local newspaper's web site. The 23 minute-long video that's embedded on the page is well worth watching. http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2010/11/the_wreck_of_the_lady_mary_cha.html
  14. Absolutely! I love the classics; The War of the Worlds, Forbidden Planet, Earth vs the Flying Saucers, The original versions of The Thing, and "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (and many more, of course). Regarding the latter...I had to watch it several times to offset the negative experience of watching the remake.... I mean really.....Keenu Reeves as Klatuu? With his lack of acting ability, they'd have been better off casting him as Gort
  15. Happy Birthday, fellow time-traveler
  16. Happy Birthday, Ant

    Funny

Drove by today with my camera, and unfortunately, they'd fixed the sign
  19. The sustainer effect is, and always has been, the "inflighteffect". I've no idea why TK even added a sustainer effect line, as it simply confuses people.
  20. You cannot take off from a carrier in either SF series, in a random mission. You have to have a mission specifically written with a carrier lauch and recovery in it. Those are referred to as scripted missions, BTW.....

    Funny

I saw this sign being painted onto the inside face of the glass facade of a local shopping plaza. From the vantage point of the parking lot in front of the building, it proudly proclaimed (in 10 foot tall letters), "NEPO ERA EW SEY"... I do believe that they confused the facing
  22. I already linked to this THREE posts above your first one.... http://wattsupwiththat.com/2010/11/09/mystery-missle-launch-off-california/
  23. SF2 at the latest patch level runs much faster in DX10 then it ever did under DX9. And DX10-HDR is built in as of the latest patch.
