So my yap 2 disk came in the mail today and after playing the first mission and then flying around doing a little site seeing ( unauthorized armed recon ) I have to say I am very impressed. this is a big step beyond the original yap, which in itself was quite good. The terrain is just awesome, the jungle and water effects really step up the realism factor tenfold. also there are some great new effects one being a killer super thick oily black smoke effect, very cool!!! The only glitch I've seen so far is the yap theme music on the loading screen, it stops and then has a bit of a seizure, besides that little annoyance yap2 kicks A**. The missions look to be the same as the original but with some added objects to spice it up a bit. I would like to see some new missions as I already have the yap1 series of missions, but beyond that I've got no complaints. -highly recommended in my book. Any body else get this yet?

Any plane getting a simulated kill on a raptor is noteworthy. If An EA-6B were able to do this to a phantom in the 80's you can sure bet it would sport "simulated kill markings"

The Arrow is a work in progress from Blackfly flight productions, they specialize in Canadian aircraft and objects for the wings over series; and all of their stuff looks amazing.

Yeah there is something going on here I put the so cal terrain in my 8-06 patch level install and am getting random crashes to black at 80%, however when the game does load there are clipping issues (as expected) I edited out the new height field lines and it still crashed. It works fine on my current patch level installs really a great terrain

PM LCountach, he did the updated flight mod for the AH-1W over at Capuns site. I have heard that it is a great flight model.

Kinda feel's like running into a group of the guys you work with while walking your wife's poodle "fluffy" doesn't it. - just kidding your super bug is looking superb. I have a love hate relationship with the hornet. It's a superb knife range dogfighter and one hell of a light attack platform but it had no business replacing the F-14 or the f-4S as a fleet defender. It is a joy to fly but then so is the A-4.... Love....hate....love ...hate....

Jarhead, you contributed to the D.S. mod you made the red side playable... you created something and shared it here... thus you have paid your own way. Second I would never question the honor of a U.S. Marine, your service makes it possible for all of us to enjoy the freedom our constitution guarantees. I apologize if my words offended you.

The guy is clearly a jackass, lashing out at the mod team because deep inside he resents the fact that others have created something of worth. He has no appreciation for the countless hours of work it takes to create anything that is good out of nothing. It's also pretty clear that he does not care that it costs money to operate this site and that that money has to come from somewhere. "I Want.. I WANT so put it in my hand!!!!" P.S. the desert storm mod is with out a doubt the best upgrade to this series you guys totally out did yourselves. It makes me wonder if the guy in question did the complete stand alone install or if he pieced it together and hosed it up

These modifications could and should be third wire payware expansion packs ... I tried to bring that up over there but I don't think TK quite understood what I was trying to say. p.s. As I said before there are a lot of honor less scumbags out there who will not pay their way unless they are forced to. Perhaps it is time require noobs to subscribe if they want to download..

They should do a prequel instead of a sequel, any serious commitment the Navy had to ACM died with the Tomcat. Honestly the mid eighties was the most exiting time at top gun, with the wide variety of aircraft participating both as aggressors and fleet/reserve aircraft. Now days Naval DACT it is just a bug convention with the occasional harrier or perhaps an air force squadron or two thrown into the mix.

Gunrunner you and I are in agreement the game should be updated to include seasonal "inclement" weather meaning both rain and snow as well as lightning . Its probably just a matter of letting TK know that people would like to see it in an update. Also HHF has a great point point too we need a ton of new destroyable objects/buildings.

Enemy skill level on hard, simulation set to normal- internal secondary drop downs set to: enemy air activity- heavy, and enemy air defense- heavy.

Oh please tell me that's an Easter egg wrench placed on the map.

A million thanks to everyone involved with creating this mod. Really its like having a new title in the series I have only taken a couple of aircraft for a quick spin but I am totally blown away with what I have seen. Huge surprise on firing it up and seeing the F-117 after all the talk about how Marcello had not finished it. Great new aircraft / objects /skins Awesome terrain, water shader effects, new audio/radio chatter are what i noticed in those quick flights. This is an outstanding mod.
