Nice pictures. I like it. I doubt, that the Yugoslav Air Force had had pilots who could fly a MiG-23 in combat. It was not as easy as in MiG-21. Without proper training the MiG-23 could be a dangerous beast for his own pilot.

The same effect you will find if people replace a meadow with a concrete area in front of their house and then are astonished that it is hotter in summer, that water stands in their basements after hard rain and so on.

If i look to the available pictures i think what they show us is a "Maket", or to use the neglish term a mock up. Not more, not less. It is on the same level like the BAE Tempest, what the Tommies showed for a while. The experience show us, that between Maket and the real plane can be a lot of differences.

Funny. The R-60 was not used in Vietnam War. They had only R-3S, which was a perfect AIM-9B copy.

The Iron Dome incident shows, that the american made Friend and Foe systems still have problems to work properly. Its not new. Its known since Vietnam war. You'd think they'd had enough time to sort out the problem.

If i remember correctly "Opie" was the american spelling of the german word "Opi", what means "Grandpa". The car, a Sachsenring P601 Trabant, was bought by the Squadron and was used as "Follow Me" car in the early 1990th. The picture was taken at Jacksonvill AFB Florida. The name on the door is "Col Chuck Ickes". He was commander of this Airbase. He retired in a rank of Major General. I dont know, wheter the car is still in use.
