IAF in 1973 Yom Kippur without US aircraft?...
Gepard replied to dtmdragon's topic in Military and General Aviation
Without american technic like planes and tanks and without the help of the american air bridge, which carried thousands tons of supply, Israel would have lost the war. It would run out of ammo, fuel, spare parts and it would not get fast replacement of shot down or damaged planes. Not to speak about the american pilots which had flown combat missions for the IDF. To survive Israel would have be forced to use its nuclear weapons. -

Austrian Mirages
Gepard replied to Spinners's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
Since Austria is named L'Autriche in french i think the designation should be Mirage IIICLA or Mirage IIILA. -
At 8:40 the guy was unable to answer the question what this part was for. The answer is, that it is the fairing of the Delta NG device. Delta was used to guide air to ground missiles like the KH-23 or KH-66.

In reality the Yak-130 has no afterburner. So i think the model should have no afterburner too. BTW, not only the italian M-346, but also the chinese Hongdu L-15 is basing on the Yak-130 and looks very similar. What means you get 3 planes for one with the Yak-130 model.

Airfield in water?
Gepard replied to orsin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I have downloaded the last version of Angola terrain and tried it out. I was unable to dublicate the airfield in water problem. So Melanje Airbase looks in my installation: My guess to solve the problem is to reinstall the terrain with the newest version. -
Airfield in water?
Gepard replied to orsin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I rather believe that some airfields are not leveled or flatend, so that they are under the heightfield of the terrain. If this happen it looks like the plane stands on water. -
Airfield in water?
Gepard replied to orsin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
The height of a terrain has nothing to do with the _data.ini of the terrain. The height is defined by the hfd file of the terrain. Make a screenshot and post it here. Perhaps we find a solution of your problem. -
water color
Gepard replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
As Wrench wrote, you must repaint all water tiles. The sea tile is a minor problem, you can take this file from an other terrain, as you want. But the problem are the coast tiles. Every single coast tile you must repaint. If not the terrain will look strange. -
If it should be a russian bird, so i would like to see the MiG project 33. It based on the MiG-29 technology and the older Ye-8 design. It was intended to replace the MiG-21. Here some pictures of a scale model which you can find in MiG museum Moscow:

In version Mi-24P was a twin barrel 30mm gun. This gun had a water colling for the chamber. During winter time the cooling water was added with 40% alcohol. And btw, this stuff was really good. During drinking you got a lot of "rotations" in the head, but no headache the next morning. "Na storovye!"

"Generic" nation ?
Gepard replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
The MiG-21bis Fishbed N came with SF2 Israel. The folder is MiG-21bisB. It has as stock camo only a syrian camo. What explain why you get a tiger camouflaged MiG-21bis when the game engine is using that plane for Single Missions. Its the only available stock skin. The MiG-21F. The user list show that Finland is using that bird from 1963 to 1986. there is no stock skin available for a finish MiG-21F-13. So the game engine takes the first skin in the line, which is a silver soviet skin. The problem should be cured when a finish skin folder is created, with skins and a proper textureset.ini. -
"Generic" nation ?
Gepard replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
The answer is simply: Try it. But make a backup of the file before you do it. BTW, the MiG-21N you mentioned is a moded plane? Perhaps it is a mod of the first generation WoX world. Such planes can cause the problem you descriped. -
"Generic" nation ?
Gepard replied to UllyB's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
The setting "Generic" means, that this plane, vehicle, ship, Flak or SAM system is available for both sides (red and blue). -

MiG Ye-8
Gepard replied to Gepard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
A former MiG-21 pilot wrote me, that the pilots had big concern during missile life firing that the smoke trail of the missile would blow out the engine. To solve this problem in east german MiG-21 an additional gas bottle with oxygen was installed and was activated during missile launch procedure. So enough oxygen was available and the engine does not stalled anymore. -
MiG Ye-8
Gepard replied to Gepard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
The Ye-8 flew 10 years before the Americans started to think about a lightweight fighter. It was twice as agile as a MiG-21F-13. The reason was, that the agility of the MiG-21 was hampered by her small air intake. So the engine very often fall into an engine stall and died. This problem was solved with the Ye-8 and so the full agility was achieved.
