  1. well also unfortuneatly Spudnockers first sentence is also likely accurate for the active players that are left. i've been working on learning what i can but the skill to create that sort of thing are in a galaxy far far away. and my name isnt Luke! and trotski, as i've seen not even so much newer shinier toys as much as RL and totally other genres.
  2. given TKs lack of PC support the last few years, and with the skill sets of those in the community (like Mue's LOD Viewer and other tools) what are the obstacles to creating our own exporter so that folks can use blender or newer versions of Max to add models in to the game? the biggest two obstacles it seems is the dwindling modeler population that has Max 2009 and the communities respect for not tearing apart teh game engine until it's officially abandonware. (yes i know many had looked and tinkered under the hood, but no mods yet improving what you found). if time and effort are the main obstacles to a newer exporter, why not get one going and revitalize the game with new modelling talent? or if there are bigger obstacles then what are they and can we work around them? its rather doubtful a new patch will come along this year to break the project whats your thoughts?
  3. closest thing we get to a project 3 is available on what ever app store you prefer to use. barring a major shocker, any further PC development will be up to those still interested in modding

  5. how big is the skin? (512x512, 1024x1024 etc) usually bigger size shows details better. BUT it will also have an exponentially bigger file size.

  11. sorry for not following, been busy. cool that it's working but a question for Gerard and kfrge... does the decal folder still have to be in the aircrafts skin folder or totally separate like SF2? just wondering why no tga are showing in those screenshots

  13. if you want temps for the Mirage Factory A-7D and K let me know, still have em from the ANG skinpack. smells like a ANG project with the requested airframes and all unit markings in that pack are decal so might help if im guessing right
  14. ok, i dont remember and dont have the time for comparison til next week. the difference sounds like its in the data.ini, the model and skin were the same as in ODS. if anyone else has input feel free to chime in the Boeings are gettin my treatment in the paint shop to have multiple airlines on one skin. the 757 is currently WIP, the 747-100/200 will be later this year

  16. also decals allow variation within one skin like Gepard's work with MiG-21s or my airliners and cargo birds. otherwise planes on tarmac are one skin type and unit
  17. in theory, nothing. it was adapted from a Gen 1 model. its why i said let me know how it works the 757, and 747 might work also when i get them done. it takes less for Gen 1 to work in Gen 2 than the reverse.
  18. much as the title says. a few ground rules: 1.should be as close as you can come to the historic event. some leeway is given as not all aircraft or paint schemes are available 2.PLEASE steer clear of airliner crashes or other massive loss of life unless there is a very good reason for it. keep it tasteful if you do ( Iowa ANG escorting United 232 to Sioux City in July 89 ok, a Flagon shooting JAL 007 NOT OK) 3.must give the historic event being presented in the screenshot finally, have fun! to kick it off, here's F-4E 69-7294, also known as the 4000th Phantom, delivered to the USAF 1 Feb 1971. later in 1989 it was converted to F-4G Wild Weasel V then finally expended as a QF-4G target in Nov 1998. also an example of rule 1 as i don't have a 4000th Phantom tga, so shown from a different angle!
  19. what else needs done on the Canuck? if the model is solid, could release for further fix up (although then again that didnt work as well as hoped for the Super Tweet..)

DC-10 is based on the KC-10 from the ODS mod. it should work ok in SF1 as all i really did was ini edits to remove the boom and eburger(?) did some tweeking so i flies better. the A310 in SF1 section is the old version, Florian hooked me up with a new version for Gen2 so the skins wont work i think. being the main jumbo skinner i will point out i have Gen 2 not 1 anymore and so thats what i work in. sorry but is what it is. lemme know if the DC-10 works for you
  21. as a USAF bird could be interesting. USN highly unlikely though in game, too much rework needed to navalize (single wheel mains, ditch the thrust reverser for weight, change and strengthing the nose gear for catapult use) at least for a realistic venture USMC would be interesting too tho since many features for the Flygvapnet would play to what the Marines like in equipment

Skystrike, the topic was navalized not Marine, in the Sea Apache case it was billed an anti ship add on to the fleet. while the cannon is useful for CAS and small craft, at the time this was pitched the thought was more weapons carriers against Moskvas, Slavas and Kievs. the top was the closest to service acceptance due to minimal change up (equalling lower development cost) and for the record the one i thought most introduceable in game. but replacing TADS and the cannon would make some sense for a platform mainly used for torpedoes and harpoons esp. given sea conditions and corrosion on those items.

  24. i always thought the Sea Apache held promise (and would be easy in game on the top version)
