  1. Euro 1 Hercs re-visited tho i didnt have Iceland when i started this. or actual Photoshop to get the colors matching! just need to do the decal ini dance now.......
  2. also kinda depends on a when you are looking at. would be very valuable for a WW2 era terrain. post war til the late 60's i dont think as much as the bulk of the fighting would be on the seas and in Germany. but getting into the 70's 80's, more attacks would come down on the allies given their usefulness as staging points back from the FEBA. look at the part in RSR where they say "NATO plans didnt account for the elimination of the Royal Norwegian AF in one week." (ok actually they did in RL, that was the tasking for the CF-5s, to head to Norway if needed but i digress). still would be nice to have a terrain that bases 48th and 20th TFWs out of England rather than forward deployed (not as likely esp in the F-101 era and F-111F). but then again i've really been wanting a post war Europe with bombed out cities. perfect for a Hot Vittles 48 campaign!
  3. well does fit the bill for what i'm doing sorta. makin a new buno set for naval Phantoms as well as multiple modex sets (shadow! grey! red! yellow! Yahtzee!!) with semi historical accuraccy. that is i'm using serials where no one died, they lasted til the early to mid 80's and got converted to N or S so i can recycle the nums!!!!!!!
  4. thanks for the assist Erik. still no name but actually downloaded a USN Stencil ttf that does the trick. time to play in excel.............
  5. you want random? i'll give you random. had this sprung on me in kuwait earlier this year. sadly its not the worst one.......
  6. The immediate request is what font can i use in Word for USN Buno's, both the 4 digit that were on Phantoms and the whole serial num. im using Flogger23's trick to knock out my BuNo's and modex's while i still have my free trial of CS 6. however i was looking this up in the threads and would like to ask for any other fonts you guys can think of. if there are enough useful reponses maybe this could go in the KB for future reference. TIA for your responses.
  7. certain amounts of battle damage will count you as dead. been badly wounded in an A-10 once, chased by Migs. did a pitch up ala TOPGUN and gunned the closest guys enroute. finally made it to the nearest blue airfield and set down just to hear taps playing when i was done..............
  8. ah ok Val. but i still suspect Spinners to be using DLCs. looking good the both of you tho
  9. are we having fun with the DLC skins again?
  10. sure was when i made the switch! Ship hunting, SAC style. this screenshot and all 18 SRAMs fired at the Kirov are dedicated to Dave.
  11. actually primary reason was that the B and therefore the N handles better fying off the Midway class carriers. Roosevelt being a prime example (VF84, VF41). the B's were alot more tired with the production run having wraped up around 65 or 66. but what Mako says is true bout war being bad on equipment, thats why Project Beeline came about. bit of trivia, the Marines actually flew B models (not upgraded Ns, straight B) until 1978, and J's until the early 80s. back to the original answer if you check who went from J to N, betcha they either flew off the Midway, Coral Sea or FD Roosevelt ooooorrrrrr they were a Marine unit and the Navy took their Js away!!!
  12. well their legacy Bugs are getting long in the tooth so they prob need something sooner than later anyhow
  13. picked up the Dec 2012 copy today only to read in the front they won't be selling print magazines anymore. Getting a months old copy of this mag made my last three deployments more tolerable so kinda bummed to see it go. guessing it will still be available online for awhile tho. now i gotta double down on efforts to find another copy of the Oct 2009 issue...........
  14. probably for reasons such as your screenie. if made it would need 1000% effective ECM, chaff and flares like the B-52 pack has, and Genies reworked with Amraam radar/guidance package to take care of those kids on the naughty list tryin to get a guns kill on ol Saint Nick! thrust vectoring for the reindeer would be nice too.
  15. oh i will defineatly make use of this. not so good for USAF Phantoms, but will be great for Naval Phantoms. just laying out folders for prep work i have at least 8 variations of USNGrey per Aircraft and 7 of those! times 15MB per skin and i feel yer pain WBS.
  16. agreed with the Super Bug. as for capabilities, when is the last time the Canadians went somewhere without the US? although its a ding to the national pride, two engines plus range makes more sense for the air soveriegnty mission with their territory, plus the coalitions they will likely be a part of overseas will see US stealth kick in the door so to speak on day one, with the Canucks following behind once the most dangerous EADS are down. seems to be the trend last few wars anyhow, why not tailor the budget to that fact?
  17. looks great! are you thinking of doing a G also in the near future?
  18. theres an International Airpower Review article on them also with lots of good pics of the family models. tho Wrench's will have the 3 views you might need and i dont have IAPR on digits.....
  19. Vipers with Phoenixes?!?!?!?!?!? well most anything is poss with ini editing....................... defineatly need a screenie of that!
  20. Spinners you feeling ok? quite a few real planes from you lately keep me in check with rule #1, tho i thought rule 1 was "there is no screenshot thread."
  21. being so similar to the SF2 series it should work.
  22. so if i understand this right, i could take one USN/USMCGrey for F-4's, then just have the different textureset (to establish usn67, usn 70 etc) and decal inis in what would be the usual skin folder? if so that would be hyper sweet for my naval Phantoms i assume a drastically diff skin like TPS would still be all in the skin folder under these circumstances
  23. i often wonder if wingmen turn on their jammers when i do. rather doubtful given the usual results..........
  24. hope she got turned into a museum ship after all that rather than scrapped. nice job!
  25. hmmmm that would take the useful life of Navy SPADs to i think round 68 or 69. last missions flown were by EA-1Fs though the USAF, VNAF used theirs a few more years. gotta look up my book when i get home to be sure though
