well i was originally mad at the internet company here. given the quality of service(it ain't time warner cable) i think i'll stay mad at them. appreciate the explaination

went down for me around 1700 local. the local internet company screens the sights you can go to. make sure we soldiers are good little boys and girls and don't look up porn or anything else bad. anyhow i got a message saying it couldn't connect and thought they had blocked CA! couldn't get through to column5 or most of the associated sites til this morning. was just abit annoyed.

have you looked in (username)/saved games/thirdwire/strikefighters2europe ? when the game installs it should create that folder. the mods dont go into the main directory like before so there won't be any objects folders there. some of the objects folders you'll have to create. for more help read this thread http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=44026 it helps alot.

decals question
daddyairplanes replied to Canadair's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
i deleted mine to clear up some space thinkin evry little bit helps. flew a mission and when i got back to home plate found a bunch of white F-111's on the ramp. hurried up and restored from the recycle bin and haven't had the prob since.not the a/c in flight just he ones parked. was still enough to make me put it back -
i'll take WOE off my laptop at the end of the deployment. getting some guys in my company interested in it and that way i can do the multi player bit with them. however adding new birds is easier in SF2E in my opinion, i'm actually learning some modding by learning to change gen1 birds to gen2 slowly but surely and when NF4+ comes out won't have much other reason to keep the old game.

SA-2s
daddyairplanes replied to MaverickMike's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
though maybe not that easy to defeat SA-2's could be defeated through last minute manuevers. sams were such a big problem early on because 1) most fighters at the time did not carry rwr tuned to the sams if at all. the way most were detected at first was to actually see the sam lifting off.2) the sam threat forced strike packages down low into range of AAA which is what shot down most planes for the duration of the war. APR-25, jamming pods and Wild Weasel/Iron hand were all devised to counter the SAM threat -

the CAG from Top gun. OK so it's not an exact quote. my copy of the movie is 8000 miles away right now. -

shoulda went for the weeds.. er rocks. ANG and Marine Rhinos were often seen outrunning F-15s on the deck at Red Flag in the 80's. plus all incoming missles seem to have a hardre time connecting couple hundred feet off the deck. -
i've been seeing that as i try my hand out on this. the F-16C Blks 50 and 52 have been giving me a conniption fit for a week now. worked on the FGR Mk2 last night and its coming along alot smoother. gotta add a threat library and edit off goofier weapons loads like AlphaJet gunpods and I think it will be up and running. tried the EF-4C though and all i could get was weapons flying in formation!

LGB trouble
daddyairplanes replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
LGB's have very specific parameters for release. outside of that they are just expensive dumb bombs, esp. the early gens. also with Pave Tack your self designating and need to keep lasing the target until impact. if you break off or designate another target you'll have the round go dumb. -

nope on the Phantom's guns. during Easter invasion of 1972 a F-4E was modified to carry a similar config. went out tank hunting with two suu-23s and 4 rockeyes inboard. Was named Chico though i don't remember tail num or unit. there's articles about it in Flight Journal from around Dec 04 and Combat Aircraft nov or Dec of 05. they didn't use it A2A though -
first off thanks to all the modders for the work you put into this site. i've been alot deeper into the system of SF2 than i ever was on WOE and am muddling my way up the learning curve. i appreciate the help from everyone whenever i have a question. and i'm even learning to check the knowledge base. two questions i have this time though are (1. is there a standard for .ini edits going from Gen1 to Gen2? and (2. is there any plans or protocol for moving said files from the SFP1 d/l section to the SFP2 section? i downloaded Spillone104's J-79 Exhaust Effects the other day plugged into effects folder and made the changes to the data.ini. no other work on my part and viola! better smoke trails for the double ugly. i thought the .ini edits that work could be moved possibly for the new folks and knuckleheaded ones like me.

LGB trouble
daddyairplanes replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
pave tack was installed into F-111Fs in the factory (or depot?) permanantly. they did not carry weapons internally but used pave tack for external PGM's or for ranging on dumb bombs. that may be why it doesn't show on load out but i've been able to use LGB with the F. -
Do you think UAV's should replace pilots?
daddyairplanes replied to scouserlad13's topic in Military and General Aviation
sorry i don't care how good your digital imagery is or sensors are. the is no substitute for at least one pair of eyes on scene seeing whats going on. COL Computer sees a heat source moving 20 mph with some warm bodies and says terrorist...engage. a pilot or at least uav operator will stop see if it's maybe a white toyota with a mortar in it or maybe with a family in it. how many civilians have been killed in pakistan vs al queda and taliban? not sayin don't go after them just sayin PID is a b%^&@ 8000 miles away. -
we do have a bunch of folks outside of Bragg with the signs on the roadside. i've stopped by a few to ask if they want anything to eat from the near by gas station or fast food joint. in Fayetteville alot are "homeless vets" with dirty pants and brand new Nikes. they always say no they'd rather have the money. but i've had a couple take me up on the offer of a meal. they had a strange mix of shame, almost fear and thanks on their faces as they got a meal in them. makes you bit more thankful for the good things in yer life however bad you think you have it.
