AI Bombers Won't Drop Ordnance
KJakker replied to PFunk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
PFunk, make sure you have Veltro2k's Boeing B-47B Stratojet 1.0 first. If so then place the mission and modified aircraft files I have attached into there proper folders and see if the B-47's bomb the airbase they are targeting. B-47 Test.7z Note: I accidentally used Desert 4 instead of Desert when making the mission so if you don't have that terrain installed let me know and I can rebuild the test missions in a different terrain. -
AI Bombers Won't Drop Ordnance
KJakker replied to PFunk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Which B-47 are you using? I just tested Veltro2k's B-47B and they dropped their bombs just fine. Maybe we can compare the data files of our B-47's to see if there is an error in them? -
Help avoid missiles
KJakker replied to matanbar123's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Well one thing to keep in mind is that in SF2 the players RWR does not detect active radar missiles. Read the articles below from the SimHQ Air Combat Corner Library. I would also recommend reading "The Flight Briefing" section of this page under "Air to Air", the articles are old but still relevant. Tactics 101 – Offensive & Defensive Maneuvers A2A Weapons Delivery In Strike Fighters -
What is interesting to me is what the Foxtrot Alpha article says happened to him afterwards. Link to LA Time article: All Counts Dropped Against Marine for Jet Fighter Joy Ride by Gary Jarlson, Staff Writer, LA Times, November 7th, 1986.

Part of that is controlled by the entries below in the EnvironmentSystem.INI. [EnvironmentSystem] UpdateRate=60.0 InclinationAngle=23.5 Latitude=34 The other part is controlled by the "Latitude=" and "Longitude=" statements in each Terrain's main INI file.

Old Dog stuck at New Tricks!
KJakker replied to BWyld's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
BWyld, for SF1 check out the links below. Especially the Knowledge Base. http://combatace.com/forum/99-thirdwire-strike-fighters-1-series-knowledge-base/ http://combatace.com/files/category/30-sfwo-utilitieseditors/ http://www.thirdwire.com/downloads_tools.htm Edit: As an additional note ground objects go into the "C:\Program Files (x86)\ThirdWire\Strike Fighters\Objects\GroundObject" folder. You place them there in much the same way as Aircraft are placed in the Aircraft folder. -
Thanks for the info, I installed Lightworks and I apparently already had Windows Movie Maker from 2011 buried on my hard drive. When I tried Movie Maker it could not see the video format the files were in so I got Any Video Converter which it turns out can join clips together as well.

I am trying to find a free or open source program that allows multiple video clips to be merged into a single video file. Most of what I have found is ether payware or seems to be made for creating music videos and appears to be incapable of preserving the audio track from the source clips. Anyone have a recommendation?

Just tested Desert 4 terrain, those settings did not work. You need to use the settings with the second image instead. Before with... [HeightField] DetailScale=0.2 DetailFrequency=1.0 MaxHeight=1000 MinHeight=0 ...After with. [HeightField] DetailScale=0.0 DetailFrequency=1.0 MaxHeight=1000 MinHeight=0

The Solidarité logo image added in support of France in the wake of the Paris terror attacks made me take a closer look at all of the logo's displayed in the upper left side of the page. I noticed that they contain the following aircraft. B-1B B-2 A-10 F-14 F-15 F-16 F-35 What stood out to me, beyond the fact that the F-16 appears four time vs. one each for everything else, is that all the aircraft are of United States origin. I was thinking that once enough time has passed that the "Solidarité" and "Star Spangled Banner" logos are taken down how about logo images for the MiG-29, Rafale, Su-30MKI, Tornado, and Typhoon? With the other seven aircraft already in use one logo of each would give you twelve total logos the same as are presently in use. Given the number of members at CombatAce who are from countries other than the USA should not CombatAce have a little more international flavor in the aircraft images displayed? Just an idea I thought was worth considering that I wanted to share with everyone.

Carrier start goes wrong
KJakker replied to wiki's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
wiki, the collision LOD is for the ships and goes in each ships individual folder. Here is the folder for the YAP Oyodo scout/seaplane carrying light cruiser with collision LOD made from copying and renaming the "Oyodo_01a.LOD" file. Once you do that you need to edit the data file to add the collision LOD entry make is work with SF2:NA. Before After Something I am working on is a full data file overhaul of all YAP ships to SF2:NA standards, rebuilt data files only, as sharing anything else would be a violation of the user agreement for purchasing YAP models. Any YAP user you would want to try them feel free to PM me, it is still WIP at the moment but I do have data files for some of the ships. -
Carrier start goes wrong
KJakker replied to wiki's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Let me investigate the ships from the YAP Rising Sun 2 pack and then I will get back to you. Also I believe there are differences in the structure of SF1 and SF2 mission files so they may need editing to make them work properly in an SF2:NA based install. -
A slightly different version of the same video above. Your comments about the Vulcan's maneuverability are interesting. I wonder how other bombers compare in that department? I know that the B-47 used to preform Immelmann turns when practicing nuclear bomb deployment via toss bombing and they had limiters on the throttles to prevent the pilots from moving the throttles like those of a fighter. As for what the authorities could do, well I could see the pilots who were flying the Vulcan that day losing their licenses or the owners of the aircraft receiving a hefty fine.
