  1. Sounds just like the kind of stuff that went on during the Cold War. One side sent a ship to shadow a carrier and the other sides escort vessels try to keep the shadowing ship away from the carrier.
  2. Go to Options->Gameplay. Set "Simulation Difficulty" to "Customize" then set "Radar Display" to "Hard".
  3. The AH-64's 30mm cannon can be slaved to either crew member's helmet mounted display. Also what is the person on foot shooting at the chopper with? The armor around the cockpit should be resistant to 23mm cannon rounds and the cockpit glass resistant to at least 12.7mm machine gun bullets. That is just me checking a few online sources though so don't hold me to it.
  4. What about adding a separate flight of fighters to the mission and assign them to escort you?
  5. Nelson Mandela has Died. http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/12/05/17500450-nelson-mandela-dead-at-95
  6. Good to know there are still parents teaching their children to take responsibility for their actions and good going Faith on taking the initiative in doing so.
  7. Fubar512, thanks for the info, I as remembering this post by Wrench. I think I might update the Torpedoes in the V/W pack. acesfakia, what ships are you working on? I might be able to help out with Data INI work and testing.
  8. Yes, I know that AAA is "Anti Aircraft Artillery". Actually in looking up Italian Army equipment I found a listing of all of their present AA systems so I thought I would list off all of them for completeness sake.
  9. Just to confirm, I copy all of these files? And paste them into these three locations. 1) C:\Users\User Name\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Vietnam\Flight 2) C:\Users\User Name\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Vietnam\Menu 3) C:\Program Files (x86)\ThirdWire\Strike Fighters 2 If so then I am missing something because when I do that I get a CTD any time I try to run SF2. When I remove the SweetFX files from the "C:\Program Files (x86)\ThirdWire\Strike Fighters 2" folder the game plays again. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

  14. Fubar512, post about the PBS Documentary "Carrier" reminded me about the 1976 BBC Sailor. I found it on Youtube and thought I would share it with you. Episode 1:Last Run Ashore. Episode 2:The Squadrons Are Coming.
  15. I remember watching that when it first aired.
  16. acesfakia, ship launched harpoon missiles are already working in SF2:NA based and merged games on a number of ships, the Ticonderoga class, the CG-16 Leahy class, CGN-25 USS Bainbridge, the DDG-51 Arleigh Burke class, and I think the Iowa class battleship update 1.1 as well. As for torpedoes, there are no real torpedoes in game as the game engine does not support them. The torpedoes that have been made for mods are really just specially configured Cruise Missiles.
  17. The Italian Army, uses the SIDAM 25 mobile gun system along with the FIM-92 Stinger, MIM-23 Hawk, Aster 30 SAMP/T, Spada 2000 SAM systems. The HAWK and Stinger are available in the SF2 SAMs Pack. I don't think there is a SIDAM 25 in any pack but there are a number of other gun vehicles that you could use as a stand-in, in these packs, SF2 AAA Pack (Redux), Marder Roland and Gepard for SF2E, JGSDF Vehicle Pack 1 1.0, Republic of Korea Army Vehicle Pack 1.0. I think we may have the missiles for the Aster 30 and Spada, I know there is an Aspide in the MGunny's Ordnance Shop II for SF2 pack, but I do not know if anyone has built any ground launchers for them as they are also naval SAM's. If not then you might try and use the Patriot launcher with a modified data INI file to launch the missiles.
  18. Thought I would add this from 1965. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOrw49-OyhQ
  19. Hello everyone, as you may or may not know, I often make my own variants of guns based on data I have available. I have decided that because I already do this for a number of guns that I would put together a set of gun packs. So far I have RN gun USN gun packs mostly assembled and I am thinking of doing NATO and USSR naval gun packs as well. However I need some help. I am looking for information on what color of tracer various guns used historically. I would like to start with Royal Navy and US Navy tracers from 1939 to present if possible but any info would be appreciated. Secondly I also would like to ask if anyone is interested in the possibility of putting together a few more "Gun Fire Effect" for a greater variety of muzzle flashes/muzzle smoke?
  20. I am glad to see further development on this. It is one sim that I am looking forward to playing.
  21. Thanks to Do355's comment above I found the topic with the file in it over at the ThirdWire Forums. http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB3w/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7398&hilit=ballisticdata.exe Edit: If you download the ballisticdata.exe program get the one on the last page of the thread. Edit 2: The G1.DAT editor is by HoneyFox and I don't see it listed under utilities in ether the SF1 or SF2 download section.
  22. Will I just corrected my mistakes.
  23. Here is my attempt off the top of my head without looking at a map. There are probably some spelling errors. Let me know what mistakes I made.
  24. To add some perspective on this mistake here is an article I copied for you on the issue. Link to the source: http://www.combinedfleet.com/economic.htm
  25. Inside the "BULLETOBJECT.INI" file is this entry "BallisticData=G1.dat". Anyone know what is in the "G1.DAT" file that is referenced? This is all I see when I look at it with a HexEditor and a notepad see the same thing except for the dots. ......?....Ôš†>Ž–_>..ö>–>%?.x)?.A&?<b!?Hy.?.é.?¡ê.?4….?'..?Z9.?*@.?.›.?.<.?³..?‚).?¡g.?ÇÐ.?kZ.?‡ù.?í¨.?li.?.'.?Ûî.?³Á.?°..?Í..?Âe.?)L.?Ö7.? I was hoping that if it is possible to determine what is that file then maybe a modified version of it, or an INI file that "BallisticData=" points to, could be created that would fix the issue with gun ballistics in game.
