From SF1 to SF2
Trotski replied to Foxtrott's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Oooop I totally misread, what you said, my apologies, as Daddy said, you CAN convert SF1 files to work in SF2, and there are a fair few that havent been re configured to SF2 standard. Again I apologise for not reading you post correctly. -

What made everyone play SF2
Trotski replied to TheStig's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I had my first flight sim on my Amstrad 664, cannot for the life of me remember what it was called though, then I upgraded to the Amiga, and I really went in for Flight sims, I had Falcon, F16 Combat pilot, Birds of Prey, Gunship, F/a 18 , F14 fleet defender, and several more including several of the Janes series. I eventually got my first PC and continued the trend. My first big love was EAW, that got me hooked on modding and editing the sim, I prgressed to the IL2 series, and ended up with Lock on, then I discovered SF Gold........I have DCS, and IL2 Battle of.......well all of 'em actually, but I always come back to SF/FE as it is just so good, user friendly, uncomplicated, and fabulous to mod and skin, DCS is superb, but I am NOT a real fighter Pilot, and although I WAS in the RAF, I was an RAF Regiment Gunner, so I like things simple, as my poor ol' Rockape brain cannot be bothered with having to press 2 million buttons, and flick almost as many switches just to adjust the seat height in the pit heehehehehe. I find this series of sims ( SF/FE) to be fun, stress free ( mostly) and easy to use, fly, and mod/skin. Long may it continue.- 37 replies

Daddy.................I Do my best to keep up a smart and military standard of semi aggressive ( to idiots ) state of inebriation. Whilst indeed it can have detrimental effect when attempting to use Photoshop whilst in the seeing double phase, it does give me a sense of euphoria, and a dashing rakish devil may care attitude. That is untill the next morning when one surveys the disasterous results of Kraken, Beer, or Jim Beam.......Ah well, I'm too old ugly and stupid to chaange my errant ways now !!! -

Have a safe, and enjoyable Christmas everyone. Let us hope that the oncoming year is a better one than the trainwreck that was 2023 Spare a thought for the members of the Armed Forces on deployment around the world, and an extra special thought for the mebers of the Emergency Services, who work to keep us all safe and well Merry Christmas, and a very very Happy New Year.

Enter the Draken
Trotski replied to Spinners's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
Gods I love those SAAB's all of 'em, not just the Draken. -
I was going to suggest the same option as daddy made. it would probably be cheaper than paying the likes of DHL or UPS.

They look like Soviet paint colours to me, just very bleached and worn I expect the Nigerian climate is not really paint friendly.

Hang in there mate, we will all still be here when you get back.

I would tend to agree with this sentiment, and even though it would be merely static scenery, it would add some life to pretty bland airfields, of course I dont have the first clue about terrain modding, I would assume it should be relatively easy ( ish) to do this, though I would assume rather time consuming as each object would need to be hand placed on each airfield etc.

Meteors with Props

you could base some nice Steampunk designs of that. Crimson Skies !!! -
unfortunately, it is quite expensive, and as such out of reach for a lot of people, especially if you dont know what you are really doing whilst using it. Still a very useful tool though, maybe I shall be able to afford it one day myself.

I agree, there is ALWAYS room for improvement, I could have gone to town on the Camo schemes for example, as I just mainly used the same cam pattern for them all, however, cam schemes were not terribly common on the type. As for the ancillary bits and bobs, those can always be improved and upscaled, however, my aim was merely to get the whole project released, as swiftly as possible, so any further tweaking, adjusting, and general "sexying " up is most definitely encouraged, and I for one am looking forward to seeing what you and other people can come up with !!! Bring it on !!!!!

View File IL-28 - H-5 COLLECTION THE BEAGLE KENNEL A FULL COLLECTION OF ILYUSHIN IL-28 & HARBIN H-5 "BEAGLES". A "one stop shop" for the IL-28/IL-28R/H-5 with all the colour schemes for all the nations using the type. Of course some of the schemes are somewhat speculative, but, I think they are definitely useable and valid, the Pakistani beagles for example, were not in service for very long, as the aircraft were not popular in Pakistani service, also the Finnish ones, Finland only had about 3 or 4 actual airframes, and were mainly used for target towing. However, I think we can all apply a little artistic licence and imagination here. I have adjusted the aircraft a bit, ie I have added Geezers excellent RAF pilots to the crew positions, as Beagles tended to be flown in leather flying helmets rather than bone domes, I have also swapped the rear guns on the H-5's to reflect the changes done by the Chinese. Also I have upgraded the cockpits to utilise STARY's pit for the type, and enabled the RWR as well. This enables a viable bombing position and is a really nice upgrade to the aircraft. I have made the weapons for the Harbin H-5 Chinese, and included the weapons in this upload. This is an all inclusive upload, so you will need all 4 files to get the full experience !!! The first 3 files are the actual aircraft, and the "ADDONS" file contains all the sounds, pilots, weapons, guns, decals So please make sure you do use that file as well !!! All the usual shout outs to all the usual people, who keep this sim alive and kicking. AS ALWAYS......................ENJOY !!! Submitter trotski00 Submitted 12/11/2022 Category Other
