Yeah, we sold them the HMAS Melbourne to be scrapped after it was paid off in the early 80's only to find out it was hidden up a river somewhere (I forget where exactly) and studied in great detail. We're only finding out now that it was inadvertently the lynch pin in the creation of the PLAN carrier programme! But the Chinese have turned that into an art. But I can't fault them with that really, they've done what they had to to get over the mistakes made by previous generations in order to becoming a super power. And they've done a great job of that, they're well on their way.

  5. You guys found Les and Russell Coit? Sweeeeet! BTM was a surprise hit in the 80's on the A(B)BC. We've always had an attraction to crazy bushman type: Harry Butler, Jack Absolum, Alby Mangals-- Alby still has an almost cult like status here along with his windsurfing dog, but Les Hiddens, the man was totally captivating! Although the few days after the episode in which he spoke about witchetty grubs, large parts of the nation smelled like puke...
  6. My bad dude, I should have directed you to the MarcFighters site. I'm sure we had it here at one point. Maybe not, my memory's shocking at the mo. Definitely heed FastCargo's advice. The Knowledge Base and the Search function will answer about 99% of your questions. As for the Mir-2000 sub, any Mirage or Kfir/Nesher type that has the 4 fuselage hardpoints would be a good start. At the very least you'll be able to sim the weapons capacity of the Mir-2000.
  7. You know, I really am surprised how there hasn't been more of a push to have developed a less capable 'export' version of the F-22. Say, one outwardly similar to the existing model so as to have a negligible on the production line, but more importantly, to keep it open. This would lower per unit production costs and thus, more funding for more units. Customers could specify which systems they would want in the event that the US (in all likelihood) vetoes use of it's current avionics package. Export customers, even with a machine that's only 75% as capable as the USAF F-22, would still be pretty happy considering that their aircraft would trounce anything that opposed it in their region. Seems to me like they've shot themselves in the foot somewhat, with this program.
  8. Seriously dude, have a look around the downloads section. It's not hard to find and there's a ton of great stuff there! Although for the Ching Kuo, you'll have to head here and set up an account with them before you can download it. Just make sure you read their policy first!!! As for the Mir-2000. That one's still a work in progress. Before you ask for an update, it's gonna be a while I'm afraid.
  9. S'all good. I know after Vietnam the Soviets got their hands on a whole bunch of US equipment. Mostly aircraft like A-1 Skyraiders, F-5A/Bs, AC-47 and mostly whatever was in the South's inventory at the time. But they also scored quite a bit of booty when the Shah was overthrown too...
  10. Ummm... How was an A-7 captured with Aim-7s loaded? They couldn't use them. The air to air ability didn't go past the Aim-9 capability.
  11. I'm afraid this is a fake. It's a plastic model that's been photoshopped (or a mock, can't remember). It was debunked a while ago. It's a shame, it's a sweet looking fighter. There was also a photo floating around the web of one that looked like the X-02 Wyvern from Ace Combat 4. 101, that J-10 is coming along nicely! Good work! :good:

  13. On the line where it says "AircraftType=" Can you add comma and then a new aircraft type? ie: [AirUnit001] AircraftType=F-4D,F-4E <---??
  14. Righteo, gave the placement a bit of a playing with and came up with the following. The red stripe will still be an issue since it intersects with the rudder mesh. Not sure what to do about that... Thanks a lot for your help gents! This one's been dwelling in the recesses of my HD for a while now. Gonna keep looking at it and see what else needs doing to it. If anyone has any suggestions, gimme a holler!

  19. I've been fooling around with an idea for a USAF Flanker skin and I've run into a bit of wall with the decals. I've nicked the decals from the Mirage Factory F-15C for the time being just to get an idea as to what it would look like, but I can't seem to figure out the co-ords in the decals.ini. I was going to just copy and paste to the Vstab's texture directly, but they seem to inflate somewhat after being added. I had a looksee in the KBase but the entry of decals didn't have anything to positioning co-ords as far as I saw.
  20. On the subject of the Mighty Mo, I have some fairly decent snaps of it on my last trip to Hawaii... I don't mean to imply for this project, just for anyone who's ballsy enough to tackle modeling it in general.
  21. I did notice that sometimes I could load 6 Mavericks on the inner pylons, then in game they wouldn't show up, even thought they'd be selected. Like So... I'm gonna have a look into it.
  22. Wasn't it a combination of either 2x Aim-9s, 2x Aim-7s and 4x Aim-54s (plus FTs) or 2x Aim-9s and 6x Aim-54s? (Although the last config had some issues with returning to carrier with 6 phoenixs, yeah?)

You are right though Stick, setting up an Area of Ops (AO) and a unit that uses the AO are two of the main elements to it. What I've pointed to will allow for a carrier to be used in the stock campaign. Generally speaking, the later campaigns that use carriers should work fine too, only, in my experience, when I've tried to use a couple and followed their respective installation instructions, it sometimes hasn't worked. Burning Sands '84 (?) I think is one that chose not to co-oporate with me. So I made an example of it in front of my other campaign mods and they all fell into line.

Generally, have a look in the knowledge base and you'll find everything you need to know about modding and editing this series (although I think it's currently being updated).
