  1. Another epic battle with voice over!
  2. I just toured around their forum a bit. Seems no dynamics in the SP campaign at all, you just fly the missions to unlock equipment and skins. No modding at all, ppl are still arguing about flight models... ehh not for me. i can see the online dogfight community will like it though.
  3. Frenchie: in your Campaign 1 file, it says UnitID=15, however in Campaign1_data file it says [AirUnit048]. Change it to UnitID=48 and that should be it..
  4. captured a video of Steam and Iron game play. keyword for this game... Jutland. and everything else around that event!
  5. sure is an annoying one... good to know it's a prob with the game (not me screwing up)
  6. one of the benefits of NATO membership i guess, must have a strong air force!
  7. hey cool one. anyway to enable subtitles on this thing?
  8. Blue angels skyhawks to the tune of dreams by Van Halen, 1986. First watched this on u2b. that video's no longer available but vividly remember one of the pilots' daughter commented on it "My dad's name is xxxx xxx and he was flying the first jet on the left. So good to see this video again." (or something to that effect). I was totally amazed by it. seems utube has gone completely corporate and wiped this video all out. mayhaps it stays a while on vimeo.
  9. wondering what happened sometimes it's unconsciously forgotten and the face go green afterwards
  10. yes Caesar, but i'm saying some additional chaffs on the rails. For one hand you get SARH Phoenixes/Slammers/Adders, or, you get some extra chaffs on your aircraft to help foil missiles (meanwhile, say, your AI wingies don't get the unrealistically high amount of chaffs as to maintain game balance). I just think.... the latter is the lesser of the 2 evils. but oh well neither is good enough when it comes down to it, as per PFunk...
  11. wow that is a bummer. i never faced ARH equipped redfor come to think of it, but fired a lot of fox3s for sure. isn't there some other way besides making all fox3s into fox1s? i guess for a modern conflict like black sea, making the opfor SARH only isn't acceptable.... how about extra countermeasures for the player only, like BOL for the f-14s and -15s. AI can't use them but AI always gets 6th sense of an inbound missile, so that balances it out a bit for the player. also doesn't EricJ's superbug pack model the ALE-50, that thing goes on F-16s as well. towed decoys are supposed to be the prime counter against ARHs. fwiw i know 2 things, RWR nowadays can not only detect the missile seeker radar, but also the datalink between missile and launch platform. reason it doesn't display that is because it will get confusing when multiple missiles are in the air. otoh some US FMS programs didn't include the rwr's ability to detect seeker heads, so some foreign operators didn't have it, therefore you can say SF2 isn't entirely wrong ofc i'm not one of the real guys but just heard from them, so correct me by all means.
  12. in with baseball bat! lol reminds me of a line "a single pussy hair can pull a battleship thru the desert" there i was wondering what happened to all the inspiring hollywood flicks these days. apparently they're sold out to the commies!
  13. The zipper! Traveling on the road so not flyable the next week or so for me, tho remembered and digged out a good post by a former pilot. http://www.f-16.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=6798#p6798 (The numbers for flame out landing was especially scary for me at that time doing some reading up on the F-16 SFO. If I interpret right he was referring to the high key and it was 15000ft 260kts for the zipper, vs. 7000ft 200kts (iirc) for the viper....)
  14. hi Rayc, should be HUDData.ini, especially under [MapLabels] section ("LabelEnemyAir=TRUE")
  15. congrats mate, dog gone my vocabulary, yea snap shots it is. and wide patterns. and the whole thing takes a lot of time, one reason i avoid them... anyway glad you got em!
  16. cougar, i tried your mission in my kaw install. i had to change the yak-9Us into 9Ps but that sure is a bunch of angry yaks. did manage to get them but lost no.4 right from the start as 4 guys congregated on his tail guns ablaze. but... i did come to realize that without a2a missiles in play, an 8 ship is very very powerful, especially when it targets player flight with priority (sometimes they dumb out...). imagine the rage when the campaign engine pits my 4 jets against 8 ship mig-15s The AI is completely useless against them, i think when faced with a number advantage they're confused/overwhelmed. what this usually results is the inevitable loss of wingie, and i have to do all the killing myself. however that doesn't even matter in this mission where the AIs shouldn't be expected to make any kills, since the only way of fighting they know is by turning and we know that doesn't work here!... also when fighting prop jobs, be prepared to shoot with a lot of deflection, i.e. go for a guns solution early on vs trying to get on his tail coz u know... he turns on a dime. shouldn't need a lot of ammo, they're quite fragile, a small burst is enough if the rounds connect. the 50cals are "pea shooters" against migs but i found them quite effective against the small Yaks and LAs. lastly patience, use pure vertical maneuvers, no hard turns etc. but sometimes it's extremely hard to get a gun solution, so consider a different entry point or switch to another target. if you lost the energy advantage, dive and then extend to use your max speed advantage, immelman back to rinse and repeat. alas, with all that said it seemed to me that props and jets operate in different worlds, so in campaigns i mostly avoid them, unless i'm sure there're no mig-15s around.
  17. yea it's a bit of a surreal story, maybe happening on a faraway nihilist/dream land (or summin' like that :p), and so bizarre stuff that doesn't make sense could happen. the whole thing also seemed extremely sad btw. my take on it anyways......
  18. not too shabby at all cougar, welcome to the early jet age:) reckon you're flying on top of NF5, highly reco the '53 red torch campaign, it's very intense and challenging
  19. GalmOne, my interpretation is that the 5g limit is only a graphic thing on the instrument, and not related to aircraft performance. the real limit is drawn on that table below, from which you can see that g limits are dependent on many factors. a "red line" on the instrument only serves as a reference.
  20. nice paint job! the engine pod and mounting sure does resemble a LW jet...
  21. dark blue world!
  22. ehe watched and still remember everyone of them, only the red baron felt a bit distant quality mirage porn yes, story or good dogfight...eeeeh...
  23. had a search for naval games recently. slim pickings tbh given that i wasn't too much into subs and a big no to arcade stuff. there was a review of Jutland on simhq a few years ago, so took a look into that, but apparently the game has gone fubar. so per some other reco ended up with Steam and Iron. Run the campaign, manage yer fleet, sink the enemy battleships, everything can be modded... aside from the 2D graphics it was really great.
  24. well community based dev isn't new, like falcon, il2, jane's, eech, BOB2, clod, cfs3... they for sure don't enjoy the hype or stability backed by commerical funds but ppl are still willing to shell out some money for them, be it server bandwidth or forum costs.
