Enemy Aircraft
MigBuster replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
As said above - the MiG-29 will still be an enemy jet - take it for a spin and you will see you are flying for the red side now However if you are trying to use it in WOV - the game only runs to 1973 by default - so the first thing you need to do is extend the dates in options.ini Make sure you are patched to the 2008 version so the avionics etc actually work in the MiG. then you just need to add in 1980s weapons, SAMs, AAA etc -
Jul 2011 patch available!

Are they all in Unicode? Do they have the .fx lines in them. Is there any difference in bit depth etc for the image files you are using? -
Every patch has added things - with the first Generation Games we always got lots of things for free but with SF2 he has had to change the business model and stop giving so much away - and thats fair enough. The changes above I expect you would only see in a new game or expansion pack. Any improvements in free patches will only be in the scope of the game the patch is for - and minor at best.

Ha - Well I was surprised to see people mentioning SF3, considering SF1 was about 2002 and SF2 was 2009, but I suppose one driver for SF2 was the changes in Vista and Win 7, so Windows 8 might be case for more change. I suppose the smartphone/tablet thing is one way to go - but surely that market is already saturated with arcade games and other things you can do on tiny PCs. I use a lot of Apps on my iPhone every day but no games - one reason being the battery runs down so quickly - we need a major battery breakthrough! SF would have to be a limited arcade game - that would need "Marketing" to sell - and it certainly would not provide any sense of immersion for the current series buyers who would still have PCs or their descendants. If he went this route consoles should be a target - but then he is up against Ace Combat 27 etc and they might release that on smartphones soon (if it isnt already)

If you are talking about the official 3rd Wire patches - then they will only upgrade the stock game components by replacing entire files etc. Any other exes you create should be left alone (or might even be deleted) But you know how to create a new one anyway yes? Bare in mind that Campaigns are made for a particular patch level - if you go past that level by upgrading things might stop working without upgrading them manually.

Without much info to go on it sounds like your install may be porked - but it could be lots of things and I wont be doing any remote Windows troubleshooting today. 1. Suggest you uninstall all the games. 2. Install again in this order I think (You might want to check that at 3rd wires site) SF2,SF2V, SF2E, SF2I, SF2ep1, SF2ep2 When you install merged everything must go into the same folder so set the path as C:\Program Files (x86)\Thirdwire\SF2\ or similar for each install. Test it works and look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Thirdwire\SF2\ to make sure you have a .exe file for each game - i.e 6 exe files called: StrikeFighters2 Europe.exe StrikeFighters2 exp1.exe StrikeFighters2 exp2.exe ....... etc 3. Install cumulative patch May 2011 for all SF2 games 4. Install patch June 2011 then patch July 2011

Ha if Wiki is anything to go by Well as TK mentioned an 80s series including MiG-29s maybe things may go that way! Hmm I had 1 kill in around 300 shots with them! Looking at the Firestreak performance - something global may have been tweaked - difficult to tell because missile performance has changed so much in various versions. Nice review Pfunk

Thats a fantastic job on the tails -
Jar Jar was no doubt aimed at Kids - unfortunately like Yoda, Lucas didn't foresee that a largely adult audience would be sitting there pinnng their dreams another classic like the original and reliving their youth

Flip - cant believe the entire crane went over as well. Soft ground? - yeah that soft ground issue must be a real nightmare when you stick a massive crane on it - more like human incompetence!

Nice find! That picture is pretty clear! Must admit I was watching a Hawker Hunter display team with gritted teeth last weekend - and thinking whether they should be sticking to solo shows. -
