Jul 2011 patch available!
MigBuster replied to SFP1Ace's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Assume it uses them by default now? Can you still force DX9? -
Yes - runs fine for me - but you will probably need to make a few changes - there are already some old threads on here that tell you what to change. Also - not sure if NVIDIA cards run the knee map okay yet - ATI cards did.
-
This is actually one Thirdwire can help you with - unfortunately though its probably system limitations, graphics card memory - or if not something is wrong somewhere with Windows or your hardware. You havent said what OS you are running? - if its 7/Vista turn off the Aero interface. Try start -> run and type in dxdiag and see what the Dx report comes back with - it will also tell you the actual DX version you are currently running.

People have asked for those - but he has said any other F-16s will be in games or expansion packs....including ones that just need new skins........thats business folks! He has mentioned going into the 80s era with games - and even a MiG-29 in the future. Got to say though that it would have to go some to beat the MF version!!

Happy Birthday to you both :drinks:

33rd Fighter Wing Gets First F-35
MigBuster replied to Dave's topic in Military and General Aviation
Yes many factors - cant just go by figures. I remember a time when 20 subsonic pudgy Harriers had to face a force of about 200+ Argentine aircraft with only 2 x AIM-9Ls each! Want to guess how much weight and drag all those Missiles on the Flanker cost it, not to mention the massive RCS!! -

No F-14....so not all western Jets then.... Yes you see its the case of the MiG-29A having a technological advantage with the HMS - like the F-16C had the superior Radar and Missiles for BVR and a decent RWR a few years later. The reason they mention the FA-18 is because of its low speed ability - but it wouldn't have mattered as much against a HMS. The simulations also probably didn't take into account the fact that flares were still very effective in this time period. The point I made about the F-16 winning the combat was that there are many factors that define combat situations - even in BVR its not just a 1v1 affair - and you can not make blanket statements based on such. Take for example the 1991 case where the F-15C gets inside the MiG-29As turning circle. Now even if the MiG-29A out turned the F-15C initially, the F-15s wingman is observing the fight from above and will step in. -

Really - which other Western planes did it fight in these mock combats? Didnt the MiG-29s have a Helmet Mounted sighting system that you have forgot to mention? Unfortunately in actual combat where all factors come into play the F-16 has won every time........ -
Depends on the frequencies being jammed, and type of jamming I would say. Jamming pods used by F-105F/Gs certainly used to interfere with their own systems!

Nato forces help
MigBuster replied to Milzy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Can you go to where you installed the game to - probably C:\Program Files (x86)\ |Thirdwire \Wings Over Europe and check the game is there. Run it by double clicking on woe.exe in that folder If its there just create a shortcut to the woe.exe to run it from your desktop. then come back -
Does falcon 4 AF install and work okay without the patch? At what point do you see the error exactly? What is the full error message?

What the hell is wrong with the UK?!
MigBuster replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Military and General Aviation
Yeah license built by Augusta Westland - we did a bit of an F-4M/K job on them. The USMC is still a specialisation to support the troops though - it has the USAF to protect Land assets and the US Navy to protect Carrier fleets. The Army operates the Apaches not the RAF The Royal Navy has its own Air Force - the Fleet Air Arm - who will be back in business when the F-35C finally shows up. The RAF is UK air Defence and due to scaling down is the only force that operates fixed wing Jets - I still see this as a specialist role and not something the other forces should concentrate on. Even if you merge the moneys going to be spent on providing jobs for the UK defence industry anyway so its not a solution to that. A merger might improve communication and stop the petty arguments that go on - but I doubt it - we would make it a mess one way or the other! -

The F-22 looks to have the more capable airframe, regarding agility, speed, stealth, acceleration and looks - flying that gives you the image. Downs side being - the entire fleet is grounded last I heard, and it still cant employ the AIM-9X: http://www.defensenews.com/story.php?i=6559166&c=AME&s=BUD The F-35 has a more advanced Radar and advanced systems like EODAS that look to give it capabilities the F-22 can only dream of at present. Superb range (might actually be better)and can carry a larger internal bomb payload. Its agility and performance is superb - I have seen comparisons from pilots that compare the F-35 to areas of clean F-16 Block 50 and FA-18 performance. -

Just political rubbish - suspect the Army and Navy saw their chance with all the cost cutting going on and made some extra cost cutting proposals. Integration would probably be a disaster, short sighted, deluded, retarded etc etc Interesting how the Libya conflict is now a sales pitch for the Indians! -
No idea without any information - could be that Windows is screwed - it should work fine with SP3 Where did you purchase Falcon 4 AF from? Do you have the correct 1.013 patch? - there is a full one and a version that just updates from 1.012 to 1.013

Using stock flares a the moment so countermeasure.ini sounds good to me. Check your effects ini's - the shader line had to be added after a certain patch: [AfterburnerMaterialF6] EffectShaderName=twColor1.fx <-----Added this line DepthBufferCheck=TRUE DepthBufferWrite=FALSE IgnoreRenderOrder=FALSE AlphaTestEnabled=FALSE LightEnabled=FALSE UseLightLevel=FALSE ........ -

MigBuster replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
As said above - the MiG-29 will still be an enemy jet - take it for a spin and you will see you are flying for the red side now However if you are trying to use it in WOV - the game only runs to 1973 by default - so the first thing you need to do is extend the dates in options.ini Make sure you are patched to the 2008 version so the avionics etc actually work in the MiG. then you just need to add in 1980s weapons, SAMs, AAA etc
