DCS MiG-21bis vs AI B-52
Snailman replied to streakeagle's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Nice! I wish if I could try Mig-21 DCS ((( Maybe for Xmas.... In SF2 this is very hard to reproduce... - Atolls... AA-2 series (stock included, but also other Rear60 IRM's) are pretty much useless, literally. Less than 1% hit rate which is nonsense. Regarding Vietnam AA-2 (R-3S) they had about 35% hit rate. In our new weapon pack we tried to make some workaround, but not yet perfect( - B-52s are almost invulnerable to anything but cannon fire. Especially some modded ones which have 1000+ jamming strength )))) -
July 2013 patch
Snailman replied to amariani's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
A very good question, I also use the jul 2012 patch, but - if I remember - there has been issues with the Jul 2013 level.... there was a topic about it, but I forgot where. What does it change anyway? 280 MB.... As I purchased AI Planes #29 I need to upgrade if I want to see it... But I'm also modding and I don't want surprises... -
I was amazed at the choice of holidays... I would have made the same choice if I could. *envious* They are everyone's godfather....

Submarine: Dangerous Waters (would be a dream to connect with SF series to conduct ASW) Modern warship: Dangerous waters, although it focuses on ASW Harpoon series (and it's derivatives like Arctic circle) WW2: Aces of the deep (maybe Silent hunter series is better, but I played more with that, that time) Great Naval battles series (old, I know but haven't seen such ever since) Battlestations series, well not a sim, but the graphics are near perfect... so I have to mention this one too. I could use a read sim/strategy with the same gfx engine! Im really sorry about Dangerous water being not so modder friendly, I could use that system to make it a decent Harpoon substitute...

There has been light-year long topics about this already.... He will not sell the code, I'm sure. I suggested if we hire him to continue the stuff for us the way we need it - from our money. No one was interested( No matter if you can acquire the code, no one can do quality work out of it, but it's creator. Believe me, to develop and continue something you haven't created yourself is an endless pain. I was in two groups already, where we "continued" abandon-ware games... Endless struggle and guess work... you try to fix a bug, and create three in the process. The man who made the code know what and why he has done. Supposed you acquired the original undamaged source without tricks and cracks.

I would say it is not bureaucracy ... it is the corruption of lobby-democracy autocracy... The military leadership (collaborating with the political caste) gives orders for the most expensive (and usually low quality/useless) equipment, then they distribute the "overprice" among themselves - then profit goes to the "club" who own the politics. Later (usually after elections...) the whole stuff is labelled obsolete - referring to it's low quality/uselessness - and the process restarts again.

Maybe, but more likely a deliberate disarmament of lesser powers and make them vulnerable to racketeering and manipulation. Sorry but who is the "we" )) ? Well, i'm interested about other statistics of course, it's not just our misery

And radar dome must not be painted. It should be "dielectric" green or white -
Parked animation
Snailman replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I haven't seen such for land based planes. But give me a minute... They only have this CanopyNodeName=Canopy CanopyAnimationID=4 If parked, canopy animation is applied. (open) I guess you may add extra movement, but not sure. Maybe it applies only to the object defined as canopy. -
Parked animation
Snailman replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
It is in the data.ini, at the first paragraph... It belongs to carrier aircraft (afaik) and activated when on deck. it represents a state, not a movement. It shows the state of the plane at the end of the anim (frame 9). Usually it is the wing fold animation, or the equivalent. It may include open doors, ladders, canopies, whatever. Gears not included, they are automatically open. Please anyone, correct me if Im wrong somewhere.. CarrierBased=TRUE CarrierParkSpan=4.99 /if span bigger than parking place, then plane is not placed CarrierParkAnimationID=3 -
by the way it is so strange, that some people may vote for their independence, some are called terrorist-separatist-rebel whatever, and being killed... Damn we are all equal...

DCS: MiG-21bis 18-Sept-2014
Snailman replied to MigBuster's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
yes yes... YES!!!!!!!!!! -
I completely agree!!! I'm waiting for that, myself. Actually I tried the MiG-21 (AI of course), and it looks fantastic. many new weapons that seem to work and the AI seemed to be smart to me (at least in AI vs AI dogfight). It even has an RN-28 nuke, but that does not work tho) On their list they have a Mi-24 too, from the same belarussian 3rd party group who made Mi-8MT, but it's in a very early stage. Years before it will be flyable((
-
All good news. Actually they have a whole big status topic on the forum, listing all current and future development status (3rd party included) To celebrate the good new I have invested in a Flaming Cliffs 3 and a Combined Arms.... First time since Operation Flashpoint I paid for a full new game) (Not counting the occasional 1-2$ old ones)

Battlestations Pacific, outro. Not bad game, very nice, but too arcade to me) I could use a tactical simulator with the same graphics and effects

It happened to me once, a few years ago. The opposite house got hit into the chimney, when I went out to balcony to have some fresh air (and rain). The shit has frozen in me, heh This isn't bad either. it was in the links at the end of the previous video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8SM6Ynu558

Nice color videos. Too bad it was rare those days(( Btw, I like this ending better)))

Personally I like the SF approach of European conflicts in several different eras... mid50's late 60's, mid 70's, 80's... interesting scenarios to see, in which era which planes would have met, and which doctrines used. It is not only me who is curious about what if the contemporary first line units and top tech would have been facing each other. It's too bad we cannot model that level of realism in SF series. And lack of Avionics80+
