  1. 23d Wing Pope AFB 1994

23d Wing Pope AFB 1994 In the 1990s, the USAF experimented with composite wings that would have everything needed within a single unit for deployment into a regional fight. The 23 Wing was formed in 1992 to bring about this vision, as applied to direct support of US Army forces. By 1994, 4 squadrons were ready at Pope AFB NC to support the US Army's 82d ABN DIV at neighboring Fort Bragg. The 2d and 41st Airlift Squadrons flying the C-130E Hercules, the 74th Fighter Squadron flying the F-16C/D Block 40 Vipers, and the 75th Fighter Squadron flying the A-10A Warthog. As is tradition for the 23d Wing, which traces its lineage to the Flying Tigers of World War 2, every aircraft in the wing sported a sharks mouth. This mod brings together everything needed to get the 23d Wing into the fight. Complete aircraft (including a newly revamped F-16D Block 40 from ravenclaw007), period specific weapons, sounds and effects. Included Viper Team F-16C Block 40 and 75th FS skin ravenclaw007/Viper Team F-16D Block 40 and 75th FS skin Dels C-130E_SKE with 2d ALS, 41st ALS Grey and 23d Wing Euro 1 skins Various period specific weapons (actively in use 1994-1996) Installation unzip folder * drop into mod folder of your choice * allow overwrites Known Issues The C-130 and its weapons are primarlily eye candy. There are unfortuneatly no paratroop drop missions in SF2, and so if you want to drop say 1/325 INF onto a drop zone, you will need to select a recon mission and punch those partarooper out by hand I have been having issues getting the LAPES Sheridan tank to create a "crater" after dropping. it is still included for the visuals of puching a tank out the back of a Herk, and because there was still an Airborne Armor Bn at Bragg in 1994. I also changed several serials after determining that they were at other bases in 1995. The deduction I used to find the C-130 serials didnt work as well for the Hogs. But it is fixed and I even discovered two Tiger Shark Hogs that were still in Euro 1 camoflage at the time. The A-10A_93 features two skins for the bulk of the gray birds and the two green ones. ************************************************************* This is freeware; it CANNOT be distributed unless permissions are granted by myself. SF2 F-16C/D Block 60 Fictional USAF Squadrons. Viper63a There are rumors swirling around that the USAF will be upgrading their aging, but much needed F-16 Falcons. I knew about Spudknocker's UAE F16E/Fs and Dtmdragon's New Zealand F-16C/Ds with CFTs, but why should they have all the fun? Here are some USAF F-16C(E)/D(F) Falcon Avengers! Enjoy! ------------------------------------------ Please read this entire readme (at least the Installations section) before you attempt to install this mod! This mod is complete in it's own, but their are some options you need to be aware of. This mod was created using all, many or some elements from the following mods listed below. I just repainted and mixed some stuff around - ALL CREDIT GOES to these people and the faithful modders on CombatAce... * First and foremost - The Viper Team's F-16 Package. * Spudknocker's F-16E/F Block 60 Desert Falcon mod. * Dtmdragon's New Zealand F-16C/D Block 52+ mod. This mod includes... - USAF F-16C (E) Block 60 Squadrons: 13th FS "Panthers", 35th FW Misawa AFB 14th FS "Samurais", 35th FW Misawa AFB 16th WS "Tomahawks", 57th WG Nellis AFB 35th FS "Pantons", 8th FW Kusan AFB 36th FS "Fiends", 51st FW Osan AFB 80th FS "Headhunters", 8th FW Kusan AFB 480th FS "Warhawks", 52nd FW Spangdahlem AFB 510th FS "Buzzards", 31st FW Aviano AFB 555th FS "Triple Nickel", 31st FW Aviano AFB - USAF F-16D (F) Block 60 Squadrons: 17th WS "Hooters", 57th WG Nellis AFB 422nd TS "Green Bats", 53rd WG Nellis AFB ------------------------------------------ Note: This mod was tested only in a fully merged SF2 install... Main Mod in "To_Mod_Folder" folder. * All new skins created using the Viper Team's F-16 skin templates. * All new tail number decals 010 > 099 for years 2014 > 2018. * All new color squadron, wing and command patch shield decals. * All New Hangar, Loading and Load Out files. * Updated/Modified (minor tweaks) to the INI and some TGA files. * Includes a subset of (Viper Team) Weapons for use with this pack. * All jets sounds were reset to default to reduce conflicts. Optional (but not really) in "Optional_Effects" Folder. * Updated AB flame, exhaust smoke, missile emitters. ------------------------------------------ Note! BACKUP your EFFECTS, FLIGHT and OBJECTS folders! Saves a lot of heart-ache and time! Note! My Mod folder looks something like this...your may/will be different... C:\Users\<MyName>\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters <XXXXX> Installations: So here we go...there are 3 ways to install this mod... 1) Cowboy (also called the "Damn the torpedoes!") method... * You backed up, right? This method changes some common effects shared by all planes. * Unzip the new mod and copy the contents in the "To_Mod_Folder" and "Optional_Effects" to your SF2 mod folder. * Overwrite when prompted. * You're done, see if you like the new planes and effects. 2) Veteran Viper Pilot method...(You already have Viper Team F-16's installed)... * Even veterans know they need to backup...Right? * Unzip the new mod and >> COPY ONLY << the contents in the "To_Mod_Folder" to your SF2 mod folder. * Overwrite when prompted. * If you want to try out my new optional effects, copy the contents in the "Optional_Effects" folder to your SF2 mod folder. These are common effects that affects most planes in the game...this is why these are optional. * Overwrite when prompted. * You're done, see if you like the new mods. 3) Who is the "Viper Team" method...(WELCOME ABOARD!)... * BACKUP your EFFECTS, FLIGHT and OBJECTS folders in your SF2 mod folder! * Download and install the F-16C Block 50/52 by The Viper Team... http://combatace.com/topic/72842-f-16c-block-5052-by-the-viper-team/ * Unzip the new mod and >> COPY ONLY << the contents in the "To_Mod_Folder" to your SF2 mod folder. Restore your back ups if you want to go back to your original configuration... If you find any bugs or issues, please let me know via PM, Mod Review or Topic Discussion... Thanks! ------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------ Credits!!! The Viper Team for their EXCELLENT F-16s! Ravenclaw_007 for his new weapon packs. Spudknocker's work that inspired me to make this pack. Dtmdragon's original work that made this pack possible. If I missed anyone...Please excuse and let me know, so I can give credit where it is due... ------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------ DIsclaimer!!! I am NOT on the Viper Team. We just share the name...LOL =Viper63a=

  9. Why the F-16C The Viper was the next logical extension to the F/A-18C Hornet. They both have a similar multi-role mission and share many of the same underlying technologies and systems. As such, we can be much more efficient by leveraging core technologies and features for both aircraft. The Viper is also cool aircraft that has been produced in massive numbers, with an equal number of fans around the world. It was a no-brainer. Development Start Every aircraft starts from the engine and flight model and follows by 3D modelling and development of all the systems. We started to develop the heart of the Viper in October 2018 creating the needed design documents and collecting as much information available to us. The main production phase started in April 2019 with many placeholder objects up to what you see now this will continue until the module is considered feature completed and can be moved from Early Access to release. Development Speed We have never developed a product so fast. Not only is this a testament to our amazing development team, but it also showed the value of creating core technologies that can be applied to multiple aircraft. The development of projects that are similar in tech will always help the speed of creating new tech. You can even see this in our WWII aircraft with similar engine types, and new tech for those. Current Early Access Features As development starts, a plan is put into place on what the key features will be required to make an enjoyable product in an Early Access environment. Much thought is always put into what will allow the most gameplay with features still to come. Even development of the Hornet, and what was most popular as it developed, as an example, the targeting pod. Of course, this is all based on how the systems tie together in development, and sometimes that can push much-requested features further out, you can see this with IFF as an example. A: Default skin only. Q: Can I use bonuses to purchase? A: Yes. Q: Why is the DED not listed at all? Are there no plans to fully simulate the DED? A: DED is an important part of different systems. As functionality for these systems is added, corresponding pages on DED will be added. Q: Are there any plans to include a virtual pilot for the Viper? A: Of course. Q: How is the FBW-based PFM developed from publicly available data to something that is actually so close to reality that a Pilot/SME is able to validate it and sign off on? Q: The FLCS for the F-16 had to be constructed from the ground-up. How was that process? A: Building FLCS from scratch was a difficult task, requiring a lot of research and a lot of effort, due to complexity and a lack of information. F-15C and F/A-18C development experience came in handy. Q: When implementing something like the RWS radar mode into the F-16, how much of that code is able to be transferred straight from the F/A-18C into the F-16C, and how much has to be modified/rewritten completely? Q: How much common codebase do the Viper and Hornet have? Will developing systems and weapons for both be seamless and much easier as EA development continues? Can this common base also be applied to future fixed-wing products like the F-4E? A: Significant amount of code has been reused, which greatly simplified and accelerated development. In the future, this will help in the development of other modules. However, there are still many things we created from scratch. Q: In the future will there be other variants? Q: is there ever going to be DLC's for F-16 that simulate different F-16's? ( i.e Block 40 Night Falcon, Block 30 ) A: Perhaps, we will consider this option. Q: Is the Sniper pod still being considered further down the road? Q: Will the sniper pod make a return? A: Yes. Q: Will Hornet and Viper be feature-tied when it comes to development and update? So if one got AGM-65 (just an example), will the other be getting it at the same time? (or around the same time?) A: We will try to. It is in our interests too. Q: Was wondering if there are plans to implement the Viper's AGCAS to save pilots from GLOC death. A: Too modern for the modelled variant. Q: How will LGB's work starting online from a cold/dark empty plane on day1? I.e. where do you set the LGB code? Will this be a server setting that bombs will default to? A: Laser code is set in a mission in EA. Later we will add the ability to set the code on a runway, similar to F-5E-3. Q: Is there anything more you can share at this point regarding Ground Radar? Q: How far is the development regarding ground radar? A: Work in progress. Q: For us who don't have cool detents on our throttles, is there any plans to add a similar feature the hornet has (the finger lift to after burner) that'll prevent me from accidently hitting the burner when I'm trying to only go to full mil? A: It's already in EA. Q: Can HARM targeting system and Litening targeting pod be mixed in the future? A: Carried together - yes. Q: The F/A-18 already has HARM. Will we be seeing that available for the Viper in POS/HAS modes before the HTS pod is released, or will you be waiting to release them as a bundled upgrade? A: We will start from common modes and then proceed to HTS. Q: When can we expect TWS for the f-16? A: This is one of our priorities for the near future. Q: What are the deliverables expected of the F16 Viper before the developers move back onto completing the Hornet? A: Engineers will return to Hornet development in the near future. Q: Will there be a "Viper mission of the week (month? can't remember)" like you initially did with the Hornet? A: About once a month. Q: How do I turn on TACAN? A: Switch MIDS LVT knob to the ON position. Yours sincerely, The Eagle Dynamics Team

  16. File Name: SF2 F-16C/D Block 60 Fictional USAF Squadrons. File Submitter: viper63a File Submitted: 12 September 2015 File Category: What If Hangar SF2 F-16C/D Block 60 Fictional USAF Squadrons. We just share the name...LOL =Viper63a= Click here to download this file
