  1. Hi everyone, I'm trying to recreate the 1st Gulf of Sidra Incident with my F-14A Tomcats and my Su-22M3 Fitters, doing it extremely historically accurate, paying attention to every little detail. So far i've done everything, and it's almost identical to the real one, but there's ONE issue i can't figure out, let me explain: During the morning of the 19th of August 1981 two F-14A Tomcats intercepted two Libyan Su-22M3 Fitters in the Gulf of Sidra. The Fitters were equipped with two AA-2 "Atoll". Just before the merge, while nose-to-nose, one of the two Fitters fired a missile to one of the two Tomcats, but being the missile a very old and primitive heatseeker, it started tracked and going for the Tomcat, but as soon as the F-14 made a slight break, the Atoll lost its track. The PROBLEM IS: There's no way i can make the Fitters shoot the missiles before merging, if only the AA-2, or any other equippable missile was all-aspect or radar guided just like the R-23, i think it would work. I tried having a head-on merge with two Mig-23 Floggers equipped with radar guided R-23s and they shot at me before merging. I tried all other available missiles and nothing changed, some didn't show either. I tried copying and pasting the Data file from the Aim-7 to the R-60 Data file, and nothing changed. I tried changing the loadout file to R-23, but the Fitters show up without any weapon since there's no R-23 option in loadout for Su-23M3s, so i think it's not possible to have them (and would be historically inaccurate too). I tried changing enemy difficulty from Normal to Hard, but nothing changes still. The only thing the Fitters do is shooting their guns just before the merge, but no missiles are fired when nose-to-nose. Is there a way to fix this? A way i can make my Fitters fire at least one of their missiles when we're nose-to-nose, just like when i got nose-to-nose against Floggers equipped with R-23s? Is it a problem with the enemy AI? Or with the missiles? Or maybe even with the Su-22M3 Fitter i'm using? Thank you very much for helping me

  3. View File Third Wire MiG-23 fighters made flyable & updated for SF2 Third Wire MiG-23 fighters made flyable & updated for SF2 MiG-23M, MiG-23M (85), MiG-23MF, MiG-23ML, MiG-23MLA, MiG-23MLD, MiG-23MLD (Soviet-Afgan War), MiG-23MLDe, MiG-23P, MiG-23P (82), MiG-23MS This is a follow on from my "Third Wire MiG-23MLD updated & flyable for SF2" mod and completely supersedes it. - All are flyable with a modified version of Stary's MLD cockpit/ avionics with corrections by Crusader and myself. There are slightly different cockpits/ gunsights depending on the model of aircraft. - Wing spoilers are now working as they were always there just not activated. Thanks again Crusader! - Opening Canopy. - KM-1 Ejection seats added. Grey on most but black for Mig-23MLDe, MiG-23P and MiG-23P (82). - Loadouts enhanced and corrected. Some Afghanistan specific ones added. Use of Kh-25M air-to-surface missile and datalink pod added. - Missile positions corrected, especially for the AA-8. - Single missile rail for the fuselage AA-8. - Improved/ corrected FM. - Improved engine sound and afterburner effect. - All Mig-23 have an ACM/ boresight radar mode but it is set straight ahead along the gunsight and does not move/ scan. The MLD and P (82) have an ACM/ boresight mode that scans vertically like the F-16 or F-15 etc. - MLD, MLDe and P (82) have KDS-23 countermeasure dispenser installed in the centreline drop tank pylon. This is a 12 shot chaff/ flare countermeasure dispenser that could be used once the drop tank had been jettisoned. - MLD Leading edge flaps automatically deploy during maneuvering as they did on the MLD with the type 3 wing. - MLD Primary and secondary roles expanded to reflect the evolution of the MLD into a more multi role fighter platform. - Removed ECM jammer from MLD. - Radar data and performance is corrected from the S-23MLA radar to the S-23MLA-II radar for the MLD. - Most if not all the exported and Warsaw pack ML aircraft were actually MLA models, this is an error in most publications, model kits and flight sims alike and has only been corrected in recent publications. The ML was operated by the Soviet airforce and by the time the export models were being built the production line had switched to the MLA. This is now corrected in the game. All skins updated with cockpit textures and various other minor details. - Grey undersides on Soviet Camouflage skins changed from grey to blue/ grey. Additional dark green added in to the Soviet camouflage of later model MiG-23s. Lots of other texture corrections done. - Skins added for Iraqi, Syria (Late), Polish camouflage, Egypt, North Korea, Libya, Soviet desert (in Afghanistan) and Soviet Afghanistan veterans. - Corrections to decal size and/ or positions on various skins. - Additional MiG-23MLDe variant created. This is the Syrian and Libian specific export model of the MLD which did not have the IFF or aerodynamic enhancements (vortex generators) of the Soviet MLD and had a slightly downgraded radar. Syrian made countermeasure dispensers installed on either side of the tail fin. - Additional MiG-23P (82) variant created. This is the Soviet P model that was upgraded to the same standard as the MLD but without the aerodynamic enhancements. - Additional MiG-23M (85) variant created. This is a few squadrons of the Soviet M model that had its IFF upgraded some time between 1978 and the early 90's (Same nose IFF antenna as the MLD and P (82). - Additional MiG-23MLD (Soviet-Afgan War) variant created. This is the Soviet MLD but reflects the specific loadouts, modifications, countermeasures and markings of the MLD models that served in the Soviet Afgan war. - Updated weapons from the RSSW 099 mod. To Install: 1, Delete ALL previous TW MiG-23 mods. 2, Unpack and drop the 2 parts of this download into your main mods folder. 3, You MUST override when prompted. Credits: - ThirdWire. - Crusader. - Stary. - Snailman. - Eburger68. - Paladrian. - Svetlin - Cocas CombatAce fair agreement applies. Enjoy, Dan (dtmdragon). 6. Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23ML 'Flogger-G' - Vietnam People's Air Force, 1984
  7. Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23MLX 'Flogger-K' - HävLLv31, Ilmavoimat, 1989 Whilst generally considered to be the ultimate fighter variant of the MiG-23 the MiG-23MLD "Flogger-K" was mainly a conversion programme of existing Soviet 'ML' and 'MLA' aircraft to 'MLD' standard for the VVS. However, an export version using new-build aircraft was produced with 16 aircraft for Bulgaria, 50 aircraft for Syria and finally an order for 60 'MLX' aircraft for the Finnish Air Force. Featuring the improved Sapfir-23MLA-II look-down/shoot-down radar and powered by an uprated Tumansky R-35 turbojet rated at 30,000lbs of thrust these were the final single-seat MiG-23's to produced with the last examples rolling off the production line in May 1985 and entering Ilmavoimat service with Fighter Squadron 31 in 1986. I think this new skin by bazillius really suits Finnish markings.

Three of the campaigns compose the three periods of the Iran Iraq War- 1st- the initial invasion which spans from 1980 through 81- Lots of CAS and Intercept as well as strike missions. 2nd The War of the Cities and Tanker War from 1982-1987-Many interdiction anti-shipping and strike missions similar to Rolling Thunder 3rd The Battle For Al-Basrah all of 1988- Lots of CAS, anti-ship and strike missions The 4th campaign is a semi-fictionalized Project Dark Gene/Ibex campaign from 1970-77 with USAF and IIAF units conducting recon missions against Soviet Installations and protecting Iranian borders from Iraqi Incursions. Because the terrain doesn't extend to the Soviet Border the campaign was turned 90 degrees with northern Iraq-Mosul/Tikrit acting as our stand in Soviet area. Includes all the required aircraft and skins including Ravenclaw's Beautiful new IIAF/IRIAF F-4's and Iranian weapons and new F-4D and RF-4E skins to match from Yakarov79! A separate install is not required and will work best if incorporated into a big everything thrown in Mod Folder. This mod package is meant to be an addition to Operation Darius or Operation Desert Storm and NATO Fighters 5 from Eburger68. Ground Objects from Mr Burgers packages are required for example Iranian Destroyers. 10. File Name: Angola/South West Afrika Terrain Beta File Submitter: Spudknocker File Submitted: 08 June 2016 File Category: Full Terrains I know everyone here has been waiting for a Border War terrain and have been salivating over the few screen shots released over the years... The wait is over! This terrain is a Massive terrain covering most of South West Afrika with the Caprivi Strip, as well as Almost all of Angola as well as much of Botswana, some of Zambia and a small portion of the Congo. It is meant to cover the entirety of the Border War Conflict between FAPLA, SWAPO and the SADF, UNITA and SWADF. The Terrain covers many types of environments from the Skeleton Coast to the wetlands to the great plains and Bush of Ovomboland. This is meant to be a truly African terrain to fly the assortment of South African Air Force birds available here at CA. This terrain was truly a team effort that started a few years ago and has passed through many hands along the way. The terrain was originally started by Centurion 1 and Coupi back in the 2013ish time frame and has been held and slowly worked on by a dedicated team here at CA comprised of but not limited to... Stratos, Ludo.m54, Jeanba, Pualopanz, Coupi, recently me Spudknocker and even more recently tiospilotos... I have brought together all of the pieces left behind by Centurion 1 and others and brought the terrain up to a playable and very fun level to share here at CA. This really is a BETA release to show everyone what we have been working on! If you have any suggestions or want to help out with this project feel free to PM me, Coupi or Jeanba! I could not have done so without Mue's AMAZING target area editor, Gerwin's FANTASTIC TFD tool and last but not least Wrench's incredible wealth of strike fighters knowledge. Also included here with the terrain are several SAM's modified slightly from the original SF2 SAMs package for use by Angola as well as a stand in Impala MkII and SAAF Alouette III helicopter. More SAAF and FAPLA related skins and aircraft will be released shortly! Thanks for everyone's support here at CA and everyone's patience in waiting for this terrain. Click here to download this file
