View File F-84I 'Sharav' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 1 (WOI c/w Add-On) Republic Aviation F-84I 'Sharav' for Wings Over Israel c/w Add-On The Armee de l'Air received its first F-84F Thunderstreaks in 1955 and it was in French service that the Thunderstreak saw its only actual combat during the Suez Crisis of October 1956. French Thunderstreaks from the 3rd Escadre moved to RAF Akrotiri on Cyprus whilst the 1st Escadre were deployed to the Israeli base at Lyddia where they supported the Israeli forces that invaded Sinai on October 29th. Despite seeing intensive action only one F-84F was lost and the tough and rugged aircraft so impressed the Israeli Air Force that they ordered 50 F-84F-70-RE aircraft before the end of 1956. The F-84F-70-RE featured the more powerful J65-W-7 rated at 7,800lbs thrust which helped with the initial climb rate and the combat ceiling and these were among the last Thunderstreak's to roll off the Farmingdale production line in the Summer of 1957. In 1962 the entire Israeli F-84F fleet was grounded due to the same corrosion of control rods that had affected the F-84F worldwide but they were soon restored to full operational capacity, eventually serving with distinction during the 1967 Six Day War and surviving in Israeli service until 1973 when stress corrosion eventually forced the retirement of the Israeli F-84F fleet. Ignoring by own backstory I've given the 'Sharav' Suez stripes and a 1956 start date! I've previously released this in SF2 but thought it would be nice to release it in SF1 but please note that it does require both Wings Over Israel and the Add-On Expansion Pack. INSTRUCTIONS 1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-84I folder into your Aircraft folder. 2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-84I folder into your Decals folder. 13. Hi In the book "Israeli Mirage and Nesher Aces" by Shlomo Aloni, I have found the information that: Throughout its 20 years of service, the Mirage III underwent just four major technical changes in IDF/AF service – theintroduction of the ‘holding switches’, replacement of the Cyrano with ballast, swapping the Atar 9B for the 9C and, finally, removal of part of the ballast at ace Kobi Richter’s request in 1977. This moved the centre of gravity backwards, cutting minimum speed from 150 to 120 knots and increasing maximum ‘G’ from 6.5 to 7.3, thus improving sustained turn rates". I would like to create this late modification of Mirage from 1977 for SF2 by: 1) changing empty mass of plane; 2) changing inertia of plane; 3) changing center of gravity position of plane but I need some additional informations which I can not find: 1) have I to change any other data in DATA.ini file to properly reproduce the changes in flight model? 2) what is the mass of Cyrano Ibis radar/nose ballast? 3) how much of the ballast was removed? 4) how much has the center of gravity changed? Please help. Thanks in advance.

  18. File Name: Israeli Defense Force Add-on for A-6 Superpack File Submitter: HomeFries File Submitted: 10 August 2012 File Category: The Combat Ace What If Hangar THIS PACK REQUIRES THE A-6 SUPERPACK 1.51 OR LATER. The IDF/AF A-6 Pack has been tested with Strike Fighters 2 Full 5+2 merged install. It should work with less than a full 5+2, but requires the following SF2 versions to take advantage of the respective components: SF2V for the A-6A SF2NA for the A-6E and A-6E_79 SF2I for the campaigns and serial numbers for the aircraft This pack is strictly a "What If" set of skins and campaigns that explores what might have happened had Israel purchased the A-6 Intruder from the United States. The pack includes skins for the A-6A, A-6E, and A-6E_79 (TRAM) in the standard IDF camouflage both with and without ID Triangles. It is unlikely that the IDF would have used ID Triangles on the A-6, given that it doesn't look like anything flown by Arab nations, but I included the skins for completeness. Additionally, the Six Days War, Yom Kippur War, and Lebanon 1982 campaigns also have A-6 variants, allowing you to fly the A-6 without unbalancing the campaign. Finally, the Optional Files folder includes the original SF2I campaigns. These campaigns are identical (as of the July 2012 patch) to the SF2I campaigns in the CAT file, but have the campaign base screen set to Ramat David airfield. 1. Change Log 1.0 Initial Release 2. Installation Copy the files to your SF2 "Mod" folder. Copy the contents of the Optional Files folder to your SF2 "Mod" folder, if desired. Enjoy! 3. Known Issues I did not include an updated A-6x_Userlist.INI file. This is by design, since this pack is "What if". 4. Future Compatibility Issues In the event of a SF2 patch, you will want to examine the following files with the post-patch extracted files to see if there are any changes or potential incompatibilities: CAMPAIGNI1_DATA.INI CAMPAIGNI2_DATA.INI CAMPAIGNI3_DATA.INI In each case, the only difference in the files should be the following line: CampaignBaseScreen=RamatDavid.jpg If the original SF2I campaigns are updated, merely copy over the updated CAMPAIGNIx_DATA.INI and add the line "CampaignBaseScreen=RamatDavid.jpg" to the appropriate location. 5. Credits Wrench's A-6E Templates were the basis for these skins. All other credits can be found in the A-6 Superpack. This Pack is released in accordance with the Combat Ace Freeware Licensing Agreement. Please feel free to use the contents of this pack with any other mod, so long as appropriate credit is provided. For support, please post in the File Announcement thread for this mod at Combat Ace. Click here to download this file

  20. View File [Fictional] F-84H 'Sharav' for SF2:Europe F-84H for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2:EUROPE This is a simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-84F to give a fictional F-84H 'Sharav' of the Israeli Air Force with markings for; No.101 Squadron (Camo) No.107 Squadron (Silver) No.140 Squadron (Camo) No.201 Squadron (Silver) No.201 Squadron (Silver c/w sharkmouth) This should work in a stand alone SF2:Europe game (featuring the stock Third Wire F-84F) but has only been tested in a merged install of SF2/SF2V/SF2E/SF2I/SF2NA. BACKSTORY The Israeli Air Force had looked at purchasing the Republic F-84F Thunderstreak as early as 1952 but teething problems with the troublesome Wright J65 jet engine delayed a firm order until March 1955 when 36 F-84H's were ordered with deliveries starting in August 1955 with No.107 squadron becoming the first unit to re-equip with this tough and popular fighter-bomber. After seeing service in the ill-fated 1956 Suez conflict another batch of 36 F-84H's were ordered and the type eventually equipped four squadrons and took part in the 1967 'Six-Day' war gaining a fearsome reputation as a low-level attack aircraft. However the two squadrons that were still equipped with the type at the start of the 1973 'Yom Kippur' war suffered heavy losses over the Sinai Peninsula and the type was withdrawn from service by the end of year. INSTRUCTIONS 1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-84H folder into your Aircraft folder. 2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-84H folder into your Decals folder. That's it! CREDITS As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim. Special thanks to ludo.m54 for the superb F-84F templates. And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community. 22. View File [Fictional] F-105D 'Shalakh' (Osprey) for SF2 F-105D for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 This is a simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-105D Thunderchief to give a fictional F-105D 'Shalakh' (Osprey) of the Israeli Air Force with markings for; 107 Squadron - 'The Knights of the Orange Tail' 119 Squadron - 'The Bat' 253 Squadron - 'The Negev' This should work in any SF2 game featuring the stock Third Wire F-105D but has only been tested in a merged install of SF2/SF2V/SF2E/SF2I. BACKSTORY During the early 1960's Defence Secretary Robert S. McNamara and his team of whiz-kids were on a mission to streamline the US defence budget with 'commonality' being their main area of focus. With the F-4 Phantom now being procured for the USAF as well as for the USN and USMC and with the TFX (F-111) project promising further cost savings it appeared that the two aircraft had the home tactical fighter market covered. So it was no surprise when in October 1963 Republic Aviation were formally ordered to cease further development of the F-105 Thunderchief and to stop production after the current batch of F-105D's and F-105F's. In early 1964 the Heyl Ha'Avir (Israeli Air Force) were looking for a replacement for the Vautour tactical bomber and openly expressed a preference for the UK's Blackburn Buccaneer. With the end of the Thunderchief production line looming, and with no follow-on project in the immediate pipeline, Republic Aviation proposed a modified version of the Thunderchief F-105D to the Heyl Ha'Avir at a very attractive price and this was eagerly accepted. With the last USAF F-105D's and F-105F's going through the door production continued with the main production batch of 100 F-105D-35RE aircraft (essentially similar to the F-105D-31-RE but with some Heyl Ha'Avir specified equipment) and powered by the Pratt & Whitney J75-P20W engine rated at 26,500lbs of thrust with reheat. Deliveries of the first F-105D-35-RE aircraft to Israel began in early 1967 and the type soon gained the local name of 'Shalakh' (Osprey). As a happy consequence, the USAF ordered more F-105D's and F-105F's as attrition replacements for Vietnam and this kept the Thunderchief production line open until December 1968. INSTRUCTIONS 1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-105Didf folder into your Aircraft folder. 2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-105Didf folder into your Decals folder. That's it! 24. View File [Fictional] F-100D 'Shavit' (Comet) for SF2 North American F-100D 'Shavit' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 This is a simple mod of the stock Third Wire F-100D to give a fictional F-100D 'Shavit' (Comet) of the Israeli Air Force with markings for; 117 squadron - 'The First Jet Squadron' in a natural metal scheme. 253 squadron - 'The Negev Squadron' in a USAF SEA scheme (as transferred from USAF stocks in October 1973). This should work in any SF2 game featuring the stock Third Wire F-100D but has only been tested in a merged install of SF2/SF2V/SF2E/SF2I. BACKSTORY Despite a very smooth test and development phase North American Aviation's superb F-107 unexpectedly lost out to Republic Aviation's F-105 Thunderchief in the competition for a new supersonic fighter-bomber for TAC. By early 1959 the end of the F-100D production line was now in sight and with the F-108 and B-70 programmes now on the far horizon North American Aviation needed to stretch the F-100 Super Sabre programme out to plug the gap and urgently proposed a variety of F-100 variants to several friendly nations, including Israel, Japan and the United Kingdom. In April 1959 the Israeli government signed for 50 F-100D's and the first of these entered Heyl Ha'Avir service in February 1960 replacing the obsolete Gloster Meteors of 117 Squadron. The 'Shavit' was a popular machine in Heyl Ha'Avir service and served with distinction during the 1967 'Six-Day' war but losses were heavy during the early days of the 1973 'Yom Kippur' war and two small batches of ex-USAF F-100D's were accquired as attrition replacements allowing No.253 squadron to re-equip with the F-100D before finally retiring the type in November 1977. INSTRUCTIONS 1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-100Didf folder into your Aircraft folder. 2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-100Didf folder into your Decals folder. That's it!
