    2. F9F-2/2B/5 Panther, VMF-311, Korean War Era skin 12/11/09

=For SF/SFG/WoV/WoE and probably for SF2 series sims

This package is an upgrage/replacement skin and decal set for the VMF-311 skin that comes with Pasko's original F9F-5 Panther release package.

The skin repesents VMF-311 flying in Korea. What has been done, basiclly, is simply create all new decals for Modex, BuNum/manufacturers ID/Service call out, and other items. The skin bmps themselves ARE still the same ones as issued with the release package from 2004. You'll have numbers, etc for 24 aircraft. Also included, is a 'clean-Nose.bmp', as historical, photographic evidence points to only ONE aircraft having the face painted on (Personally, I LIKE the face!). Instructions on how to switch to the clean nose are below in the "To Install" section.
It should be noted at this time, my researches have shown a more-or-less mixed bag of models as used by 311; so the BuNums/ID tag reflects this -- some will be labeled F9F-2B, some as F9F-5. Rest assured, the BuNums ARE correct for the models indicated (other than the 2/2B having a shorter tail fin). I can, unfortunatly, only claim 100% accuracy for modex #s 2, 6, and 16, as these can be clearly seen in photos in the sources listed below. The rest should be considered as 'filler'.

As always, unzip this archive to a temp folder or your desktop, or somewhere else that's easy to find, to gain access to the rest of this readme, for full, simple-to-follow (for once!) instructions.

    4. This is the Pucara AX-04 Skin. This plane was used in May of 1982, during the Falklands War . The " Comando Aereo Estrategico" (Startegic Air Command) tried to employ the old Mk13 Torpedo used by the "Armada Argentina" (Argentine Navy), with the IA-58A Pucara used by the "Fuerza Aerea Argentina" (Argentine Air Force). This Pucara AX-04 (ex A-509) came with a totally new skin, only used on this ocation. After a number of failed test the project was abandoned and the skin was never used again.

    5. F9F-2/2B/5 Panther, VF-781, Korean War Era skin 12/11/09

=For SF/SFG/WoV/WoE and probably for SF2 series sims

This package is a complete redecaling for Marcfighter's F9F Panther skin, representing VF-781 during the Korean War. For Historical Correctness ™, a 'new' aircraft should be created, but there are some fairly major physical & other differences between the F9F-2/2B and the F9F-5 that we have. We'll just pretend they got the -5s a little early, or pretend these are -2Bs, as all the BuNums/ID tage decals I've created ARE for -2/2Bs. Mmmkay?

The original Marcfighters skin bmps ARE included -so full credit MUST be given to him on this-, with all new decals for 24 aircraft (this MAY not be historically correct, but photographic evidence exists showing #121 in flight over Korea). The new decal are the Modex, BuNum/ID tag, and the Air Wing letter. I reused one or two of Marcello's original decals. Chalk it up to laziness...

With special thanks (you can't say it enough!) for Marcello for creating this skin in 2004!!

    6. A new skin for the F9F-5P Photo Panther as originally released by Guest. This skin represents VMJ-3 out of MCAS MIAMI in the 1954-55 timeframe. I have also included an improved skin for VC-61 "Eyes of the Fleet" for you Korean War buffs like me. As an added bonus......I've dropped in an EXTRAS pack which includes a new pilot(Diego's awesome USN Korea skin), new sound file(J-48 jet engine), new hangar screen and of course....the PHOTO-RECON mod instructions!! ENJOY!!

    8. Here is a conversion of the stock WOI gray Kfir skin. It represents Kfir C2 no.882 from the hornet squadron in 1977.
I added the black and yellow triangles to the skin and the historically accurate squadron insignia to the decals folder.
Drop the skin folder into the airplane folder and Copy the decals from the 'D' folder into the general decals folder. That's it. It was tested on WOI and it works great.

For all I know, only one airplane (882) was painted the black & yellow triangles. If anyone wants to "generalize" the plane, you can just go into the "decals.ini" and delete the numbers at the end of the serial no. entry (kfirSN082) and then any Kfir number will be available.

      have fun!
