    1. Libya - Version 3.0 Ulitmate Final -

Libya Terrain Upgrade, Version 3.0 -- For SF/WoV/WoE and probably WoI/FE/SF2

Ok, I know, I know...I said I'd NEVER go back to this terrain, but since the 2.0 FINAL was released I've learned a bit more on how to use the Terrain Editor...to wit:

There has been extensive retiling of many of the major areas on the map, replacing LOTS of mismatched or ill-fitting tiles. The entire coast of North Africa, from Tunisa to the Libyan/Egyptian border and been completely retiled with matching units. Sicily and Greece, and the 'boot' of the toe of Italy have also been extensively retiled. Approximately 75% of the map tiles have been replaced -BY HAND!!!!-, making a much smoother and better looking map. Unfortunately, a couple of the target areas required small location adjusments, so that had to be corrected as well.

Included in the package are new HFD, TFD, data and targets inis. The data ini has been fully updated to make use of the terrrain effects as per the 9/08 & 10/08 patches. Adjustments to sea level and uping the Alpha Object count have also been implemented in the data ini. Some trees are around, but not as many as I'd like.

You =MUST= have the orginal Libya 2.0 terrain to make use of the Update Pak. It's available in the CombatAce download section at the following url:

      http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=6652

The targets ini in this pak includes the "Targets Hot Fix", and the new planning maps from that package. So, don't worry if you don't have the Hot Fix pack.
So, really...consider this the Ultimate Final Version....I'm NOT going back to it again. Promise!!

= This has been tested in WoE (my main Laboratory of choice..) As it was originally built for SF, no worries there. WoV should also be no problem. It -should- work in WoI and First Eagles, but you'll still need one of the Original 3 Terrains ™ for the terrain cat reachback. This, however, has =NOT= been tested. You use it in these games (WoI & FE) at your own risk.
For SF2 users ... don't know what you to tell ya...you're on your own! =

As usual, there's more relatively simple install instructions in the enclosed readme. So, give it a once over...

    2. American North West - 4 Seasons Rebuild

Upgrade for America NorthWest Terrains: 4 Seasons Inclusive Build

      -for SF/WoV/WoE/WoI and maybe FE?

The original America Northwest Terrains; AmerianNW, AmericanNWinter and AmericaNWSpring, were released sometime back in 2003. They are exceedling FUN maps to fly on, as they are full of deep canyons and high mountain ranges. But...with the advent of the 9/08 patch for the entire 3rd Wire series, they can now be combined into ONE terrain, and with a few ini edits, allow for =ALL= 4 season to be present in ONE terrain folder. Seasonal changes are based upon the date a mission is flown, in single mission (month/day - year makes no difference), and probably in campaigns as well

This package includes ALL 4 seasons for Major Lee's "America NorthWest" series, combined. This package is designed to TOTALLY REPLACE =ALL= the original terrains, with one single install. Editing has been done to the all the inis, as per the latest patch standards. Included are also my targets and movements enhancements, as seen in a 8/07 upgrade, with some additions.

Included are the "Spring", "Summer" (by CA_Stary), "Thaw" (by Doghouse & Deuces), and "Winter" seasons as new subfolders of this rebuilt terrain. A new 'EnvrionmentalSystem.ini', that is terrain specific, was created that raises the cloud deck OFF the mountains. It's also super easy to edit, to allow for lower clouds, if that is your wish. You'll also find regional specific trees (pine) scattered across the landscape. It looks sooo much better with trees!!! :) For those looking for it, YES, there are more than a couple of Easter Eggs, as you've all come to expect.

While set in the "What If.." world of the Global Sedition vs the North American Alliance, it's quite usable for just about anything. =EXCEPTING= no anti-ship missions, as there's no large bodies of water for shipping routes. (see my pleas for retiling in the "General Notes and Other Nonsense" section below)
The movements ini has been expanded for more Armed Recon missions, with additional truck routes for both sides. Additonal targets have been added (one new city, airport and train stations for each side), and new Ground Attack routes for CAS missions. I added an oil field to the Alliance side, to give the Sedition forces something extra to bomb, and Alliance forces something to protect. I figure the story line would be "short on resources, the Global Sedititon is trying to capture the Salmon River Oil Fields and Elk Mountains Uranium Mines for their own". New country flags have been added (the 2 GS and Alliance flags are still here!) for NAA alllies - USA and Canada.

This has been tested in WoE (my main Laboratory of choice..) As it was originally built for SF, no worries there. WoV should also be no problem. It -should- work in WoI and First Eagles, but you'll still need one of the Original 3 Terrains ™ for the terrain cat reacharound. This, however, has =NOT= been tested. You use it in these games at your own risk.
Vista users should also have no problem with terrain effects, as the latest round of patching has apparently cleared up that problem. And the fact that there's no water on this map.....

Included as well is FastCargo's SON-9A "FireCan" AA control radar, and some ini updates for a few of the stock "Red" AAA units, networking them to the FireCan.

PLEASE read this entire ReadMe all the way through before installing; there are some issues I've encountered that need some explaining, and this will give you a better understanding of what I've tried to accomplish.

    3. Rescaled Green Hell 2 Trees.rar

This is a texture modification of CA_Stary's Green Hell 2 mod for WOV/WOE. In order to use this mod you must have Brian32's WOV terrain repaint and CA_Stary's Green Hell 2 installed.

I have rescaled the trees to a more realistic size. The benefits of doing this are tremendous. First, weapons delivery feels more natural because you are able to judge speed and distance more accurately. Secondly, flying NAP of the earth is more realistic as the illusion of speed has increased.

I have also included a new Viewlist.ini file which is optional. If you haven't used my other viewlist.ini mod you might want to try this one. It allows you to zoom in and out in external and flyby view as well as a new tower view. It is inlcuded because the FOV for external view has been set to 180 degrees for a more realistic experience when buzzing the trees in this mod. Also the FOV for the cockpit has been set to 85 degrees. Please read the Install.txt for directions of use.

      Cheers,

    4. Canary Islands

Canary Islands Terrain -for SF/WoV/WoE/WoI and maybe SF2 & FE?

This is a small map mod that was sent to me, partly started, by Crusader (IIRC) . I went ahead and targetized it, did some minor retiling (including creating a new "DesertAB1" tile for use under the runways), and generally did what I could to finish it off.

This is a VERY small map, I'd guess in the 250x250 km range, so there is a distinct possiblity of running into The Wall. Hopefully, I've gotten all the movement routes well within. If there is, or anyone knows of a way to expand it.....do let me know and I'll targetize the other islands....

The data ini makes use of all the latest 'goodies' added by the 9/08 & 10/08 patches as to effects rendering. Included are new targets, types, movements inis and tiles. Everything is included to make install as easy as possible. Even the GroundObjects used are ALL stock types, so nothing new has been added. One thing, however, there are NO SAM sites on either side. Given the small size of the map, one could find himself under fire from wheels up to whereever you're going!
Several new flags have been added; the Spanish flag and for the 'enemy' side, I just reused the "Global Sedition" banner. However, 2 new ones have been added for the Bad Guys ... consider them the 'Easter Eggs' for this terrain.

This has been tested in WoE (my main Laboratory of choice..) As it was originally built for SF, there should be no problems .
Vista users should also have no problem with terrain effects, as the latest round of patching has apparently cleared up that problem. If, however, you've not patched your game install, I've left the "Notes for Vista Users" section intact, with instructions on commenting or editing the shaders sections.

    5. The Fighter Bowl

"The Fighter Bowl" Terrain for SF/WoE/WoV and Probably SF2, WoI & FE

This little terrain idea came to me, literally, in the middle of the night. It's just a very basic terrain, with only 2 airfields (the Large Runway 4 so anything can operate from it) per each side, a few cities, some rivers and an oceanic feature in the center. It is designed with multi-player in mind, hence it's name "The Fighter Bowl", where opposing Teams can have it out with each other.
There are also multiple Truck Routes, some Ground Attack (ie: CAS) and shipping lanes across the Saknuseum Sea. Think of this as a complimentary terrain to both The Ranges, only you'll have Opposing Force Air Units to bug you. To add a bit of sci-fi-ishness, on the central island is the "Citatel of the Adjudicators", a Neutral Party that judges the competitions. Think of them as the Referees of Global Confrontation ... whomever wins in The Arena, gains whatever world-goal they were seeking.

The terrain is supposed to look like an extreamly LARGE impact feature on the earth's surface (ie: a 200+ kilometer diameter crater/caldera), with a central sea. Think of the Manicougan crater in Canada, only several HUNDRED orders of magnitude larger. It's mostly ringed with mountains, but is other wise relatively flat across The Bowl. Also relatively featureless, with only a few deep canyons or other erosive features in the "playing field".
This is a complete terrain, with everything needed to just unzip and (hopefully) run with no problems.

There are NO major air defense units, other than those as usually seen around the airbases. A few have been placed at the 'cities', but AAA units ONLY -- to repeat, there are NO SAM batteries emplaced on this map. That would take away from it's intended use as a major Dogfight or Co-Op Arena.
There is, however, as you've all come to suspect (and/or rather, expect...) one major Easter Egg on this map, and one very small one. They're built directly into the terrain itself, and should be pretty easy to find. If you look for such things...

I'd also like to apologize for the lously planning maps ... for some reason, the SFMap generator didn't see what was supposed to be "sea" as anything other than land -- that's totally my fault, in a lack of under standing how exactly the Height Field is read. Had to paint the Saknuseum Sea in by hand, so expect some placments to be a bit 'off' on the planning maps. Sorry!

= This has been tested in WoE (my main Laboratory of choice..) There should also be no problems running it in SF or WoV. It should also work in WoI and First Eagles, but you'll still need one of the Original 3 Terrains ™ for the terrain cat reachback. This, however, has =NOT= been tested. You use it in these games (WoI & FE) at your own risk.
For SF2 users ... don't know what you to tell ya...you're on your own, but you should have any major problems =

As per usual, the expected readme with all the (un)necessary information needed to install and blah blah blah balh

    6. American SouthWest - Ver 2.0

American SouthWest Terrain, Version 2.0 for SF/WoE/ WoV and probably WoI, FE and SF2

This is a complete rebuild of the terrain originaly released in Feb 2008. It has been completely retiled, and has had a MAJOR upgrade in the targetization. It is designed to COMPLETELY replace that original version. It has been fully updated to use in the post-patch world.

This semi-fictional terrain represents Southern Texas and part of Northeastern Mexico (Tampilas/Monterrey) region, along with part of the western Gulf of Mexico. I use the term 'semi-fictional', as for the most part, the cities and airfields are relatively close to their real life locations, but some fictional target areas have been added for playability. I've designed this to be used in the alternative world of the "Global Sedition" vs the "North American Alliance"; it is, however, usable in any era from 1940-2040, with minor changes in the targets and types inis.

This is a COMPLETE package, with everything needed to just unzip, install, and fly over. All the tiles are included, including several (ie: MOST) repainted to a more 'lush' version. All new TODs have been created, so you'll see lots of trees and small buildings, including the 'skyscrapers' from Polak's city tod. Almost all the original Desert tiles have been repainted to more closely represent the semi-tropical/minimally arid region of the Texas Gulf Coast. Several rivers have been added, and they, for the most part, follow their Real Life ™ courses across the region. The "look" of the terrain should be something between the stock 'Desert' and the overly green of say, Deuces Euro Repaint and/or the GermanyCE terrain. In other words, semi-arid, but with plenty of growing things.

It is reccomended (read: REQUIRED) that you have Pasko's SAMs and Vehicles Pak installed in your GroundObject folder; either or both the Desert or Euro skinned vehicles, plus any additional vehicles such as Kesselbrut's ZIL truck pak, Infantry paks, Moonjumper's fix for the BM-14-16 (adds working Kytusha rockets) and any other SAMS or AAA, vehicles or whatever strikes your fancy. With such an 'open ended' time frame for use, any and all GroundObjects should be available for use.

It has been tested in SF, WoE and WoV, post 9/08 & 10/08 patch levels.. It should work in FE & WoI (also post Expansion Pak and Post Patch) with the correct cat pointer -- this has NOT been tested, however. It should also work in SF2, as long as you adjust the cat pointer lines in the main ini. Pre-patch users may have some issues due to the new way the Game Engine ™ reads/creates height field measurments. Enough data exists in the CA forums for find the anwsers on how to fix it, if needed.

As you've all come to expect, there's a HIGHLY detailed readme with all the "data and materials" necessary to get you up and running. I'd suggest reading it first, after unzipping to a temp folder somewhere

      Credits:

Thanks to gepard for his terrain tutorials, without which this mod would not exist.

Thanks to Deuces for his Enhanced WoE tileset.
I have included this in terms of the CombatAce Fair Use agreement, as I understand Deuces has granted his permission for his older mods to be used in this way.

Thanks to Wrench for leading the way in terrain target placement.

      **************************************************

Unzip the zip and copy the "UK" folder in to your terrain folder.

The "RedBritain68" folder goes into your campaign folder.

I have included two sets of terrain .ini files. You will find them in the UK/Soviet Invasion and UK/Celtic Wars folders. The default is the Soviet Invasion set, which has England defined as "ENEMY" and is required for the Red Britain 68 campaign to work.

The Celtic Wars set has England defined as FRIENDLY, with the Celtic Nations as ENEMY. This is for use with ndicki's upcoming Celtic Wars mod, and should be regarded as a WIP. use at your own risk. In particular, you will require to add the various nations listed in this thread to your NATIONS.INI or you will likely get a CTD:

This terrain is a beta, so you will see some strangeness. You can report any particularly freaky stuff to me at CombatAce.

It is set up for use with WoE, but you can use SFP1 and WoV if you change the CAT pointer line in the terrain .ini file.

    9. Solomons Islands - version 3.0

      Solomon Islands Terrain -Version 3-

For SF/WoV/WoE WW2 PTO mods, 06 Patch Level ONLY

This is a COMPLETE and TOTAL rebuild of Edward's WW2 Solomon Islands map. It has been completely retiled (pretty much by hand!) to use the VietnamSEA tiles, and the Green Hell trees/jungle TODs; several of which are NEW, and only availalbe in this mod. This is a FULL terrain, with just about everything included for you to unzip and use, with minimal difficulty. It has been fully upgraded to make use of the 06 level terrain effects, so Vista users please take note. It is designed to TOTOLLY replace any and all eariler versions.

This is a fairly 'target rich' environment -- the types and targets inis have pretty much been rebuilt from scratch, and the 'locations' in the Solomons_Nations.ini has been divided up into the various island named regions of this Theatre. There are also several completly NEW ground/terrain objects, creating via edits of pre-existing terrain objects.

You MUST have ALL the Pacific Objects (ground units, ships, AAA, infantry, etc) already installed in you PTO version of the game; otherwise things may not be appearing. This is especially important for the ships -- the Liberty ship, and all warships, both Allied and Japanese. It's HIGHLY reccomended you have Gepard's "Midway" terrain installed, along with his IJN/USN naval units -- I've made use of them for both Fleets. Don't forget to check Geo's page for more WW2 goodies ... there's a lot of stuff that's usable (and used!) here as well. Some items are included (see below in the 'To Install' for details)

There ARE some historical flaws, which as most of you know cheeses me off to now end; they are somewhat detailed in the "Notes & Explinations" section below.

The data ini has been upgraded to the semi-latest standards (ie: 2006 patch level). Water effects are active, so Vista users beware...more information for you is below in the Install Instructions. See "Notes for Vista Users". While not designed for use in 08 or SF2 level games, it is quite easily adaptable with minor additions/changes to the data ini. Consult the CombatAce Knowledge Base or the several hundred threads on the matter.

= MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST, WW2 NATIONS INI IN YOUR FLIGHT FOLDER =
= MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST WW2 FORMATIONS INI IN YOUR FLIGHT FOLDER =
== MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST WEAPONS PAK FOR THE WW2 WEAPONS!! ==

It has been tested in SF, WoV and WoE, using their cats pointed to in the main ini. As most of the new objects will be residing directly in the terrain folder, you should have no problems. (see the CombatAce Knowledge Base for the tutorial on using the cat pointer line).

Follow these instructions herein =EXACTLY= and you should have no problems. It's HIGHLY reccomended you read this document completly through before installing this mod.
Note: There are several new terrain objects still in the works (some parked? docked? moored? seaplanes); they just aren't ready yet. So, rather than wait until they're done, I've chosen to release this "as-is". Expect an update with these 3 objects are finalized (those are actually the only thngs missing -- everything else is done!). This will, at least, give the Campaign Builders something to work with.

As always, it's reccomended you unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop to gain acess to the rest of the readme.

      Good Hunting!

    10. Civil Mod "FireFighters"

      CIVIL MOD "FIREFIGHTERS"
      =======================

      I.
The CIVIL Mod "Firefighters" is made for FIRST EAGLES.

      ==============================================

      II.
I made this mod for my son, because i believe that it is not really good if a 7 years old boy is dropping bombs or firing missiles or shooting guns. So i decided to make a civil version of TK's sims. That my son is a fan of the Feuerwehr (fire brigade in english), gave me the idea to make a mod for the flying firefighters who use agricultural planes or old military planes like the Tracker, the B-26 etc to fight against wood fires all around the world.

This mod includes a modified version of my Vogesen terrain, the Z-37 Cmelak agricultural airplane and modified files to make modern planes usable in FIRST EAGLES.

You can fly firefight missions (mostly suppress woodfires), Search missions (SAR) and you can drop parachutists.

      ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

      III. INSTALLATION

1.) You need a clean installation of First Eagles (FE)
2.) Open folder objects/aircraft and delete all subfolders (planes)
3.) Open folder objects/groundobject and delete all subfolders (Groundobjects)

4.) Unzip the Civil Mod into your civil First Eagles installation

5.) to make the O-1E Cessna and the C-130 usable you must include the files O-1E.lod, C-130A.lod, C-130A_LOD002 - 005 in the relating folders. This files are part of original SFP1,WOE,WOV game. You must extract them from SFP1,WOE or WOV objects.cat by using the SFP1E tool which you can find at CombatAce.com

      Thats it

With the Civil Mod comes the file meine.ini which you find in Controls folder. This file allows you to use flaps, breaks etc in game. This are the option settings i use in my game. You can replace this file by your own controls file from an other SFP1,WOE,WOV,WOI game.

      ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

      IV.
I want to say thank you to Darreck for the Coolingtowers, RussoUK2004 for the VW, suicidal for the Lamas, Canadair for the Waterdrop effect and all the othersfor hints, files, ideas etc.

    13. CLOUDS PACK

      CLOUDSMODfor SF1/WO*

      **********************************

I picked up my mod color for file Environment thatused the Gumpy for its Clouds mod(http://combatace.com/files/file/12364-il2-clouds-for-wov-and-woi-series-1/).My mod can be used with the other Environment system for WO *.

My mod used a total of 5 types of clouds. These cloudsare different in colour, texture and shapes. I have included a cloudguide.jpg with screenshots, labeledto match the folders, so you can get an idea of what each cloud looks like.

      .

      **********************************************

      INSTAL

Just copy a cloud1.tga from any one of the six foldersincluded in the mod and paste it (just the file, not the folder) into your Flight folder. Always back up youroriginals!

That's all. If you want a different kind of cloud, must select a type and a copy to folder of the flight in the game (copy alwaysCloud1 tga file.)

It is good to have backup files!!!

      **********************************************

I hopethat my clouds for you will have an interesting atmosphere in your flightWinter landscape requires other clouds than the summer landscape...

    14. 12 Million Meter Map

This is a prototype 12,000km tiled, but not textured, map called Baikal, for summer season. The downloaded file is Baikal.7z. Unzip it with 7zip into a new folder not in the game folder. Copy the unzipped Baikal folder into the Terrain folder. The 99MB download is mostly very large bmp files used for development.

I am using SF-1, patched to October 2008.

The files in the Baikal folder are alphabetically ordered. This is essential for easy viewing of the folder contents. Folder set to view "list" helps me see the whole folder in one screen.

Tiles are 3km on a side, which is a minimum for this size map. There are no "real" textures for the prototype map.

      I can't texture. I tried, but...

Only blank colour coded tiles are here, for tile mapping development, and blank tiles allow easy viewing in Terrain Editor zoomed out view. This terrain is made for paleo-antiquity classical high altitude strategic operations, and terrain variation is over a vastly greater scale than normal SF maps -- which means less detail seen from the cockpit at normal low altitude SF gaming, unless one expands their horizon distance to see more of less. The good news is that 3km tiles allows a modest 1.5x increase in framerate or 1.5x increase in HorizonDistance over the SF standard 2km tile sizes. I am currently running 200km horizon distance with ATI 4850 video card, and other game tweaks.

Much more info is in the readme file called " = 12m3 notes " . Also, the Viewlist readme is useful for exploring the map quickly.

      No tile was left behind.

    21. Cirrus clouds for SF/WoV maps (beta) SP4 update

      original description...
      :
      :
*Beta* test, updated for SP3 and SP4 generation of Patches, of very large layers of high altitude cirrus clouds that can move across SF/WoV maps and can be set to any desired altitude (you can fly through these clouds). Cloud effects are created by a type of "ship" object that follows a waypoint across a map. Read the Install file, it describes what's going on here.

The website is a thread on this at the ThirdWire SF/WoV forums.

Thanks to TK/ThirdWire and all the modders who made this Aw-Sim possible. Thanks to Polak for encouraging me in this.

    22. Deutschland Terrain Version 1.0 (Germany for SFP1/WoV)

      Version 1.0

This is the first release of Deutschland terrain. It is freeware and intended as stop gap filler till "Wings over Europe" will be available outside the USA.
It is made for SFP1, but can also used for WOV.

*In comparision to beta v 0.75 i included some more ground tiles (Towns at rivers, 3 new tiles) The map is reworked a little bit.
*The Rhine Valley between Koblenz and Bingen is now flowing more or less into the valley and not more over the hills. It is not perfect, but much better than before. (23 new tiles) It is a funny place for hedgehopping. In a further update i will include the castles for which the Rhine Valley is famous for.
*The number of target areas is now 248 instead 186 in Betav0.75.
*New targets are civil ports in the GDR and the FRG, Antenna fields in the GDR. 2 naval bases in the East and one in the West (At this place i want to say thank you Capun and Mike Whl who gave me the permission to use their Osa and Koni ships as static targets)
*I placed some ponton complexes on the map (Again thank you to Polak, who mad the pontons originally for my Israel terrain)
*West Germany got a SAM defence
*additional east german Industry is added
*some big barrack complexes are placed at the map, including one of the longest buildings in the world Prora which you will find near the big eastern bay at island of Rügen
*The CoolingTowers of the powerplants now have smoke. (Thanks to Darreck for the CoolingTowers) The smoke is not yet perfect (The exhaust time is to short) But i hope that this problem can be solved.

*I found some bugs, like the Hawk launcher or Shilkas at the runway and solved the problem. Some files for troubleshooting you find in the subfolder "Special" in Deutschland folder

With this release of Deutschland terrain this terrain is far away to be complete. Germany is a so heavy populated contry that the number of target areas could be increased to 1000 or 10.000 and you would not have all possible targets.
I have concentrated my work on the east of Germany, the former GDR. I also invested a lot of time in the northern part of West Germany and the Rhine Valley, the former FRG. Bavaria and Thuringia are nearly untouched. You see, there is still a lot to do.

If you have remarks or comments, please post it at SimHQ forum or Combatace forum.

Finally i want to say thank you to all who supported Deutschland terrain with files and hints. And of course a big thank you to TK and his team for the development of the SFP1
      sim family.

I hope you enjoy Deutschland terrain
