This is a fictional campaign, set in the stock terrain of Strike Fighters Project 1. It is set in 1978, as Paran tries to invade Dhimar. Dhimar is assisted by the U.S. Navy, operating from the USS Nimitz, and by the USMC, operating AV-8C’s from several small, makeshift airfields.
This campaign requires Strike Fighters: Project1. It was not tested with Strike Fighters Gold, but it should work.
A big thank you to everyone who allowed me to include their work in this Campaign. Special thanks to Whiteknight, who made skins specifically for this addon, and to Kesselbrut, who allowed me to include some of his objects from the upcoming Falklands Campaign. This updates the Iran Iraq campaign for SF1 to the latest patches: SP051506a and P083006. Both patches can be found at the Thirdwire site www.thirdwire.com
simply place into your fully patched and installed Iran Iraq folder.
If you do not have the Iran Iraq War all inclusive mod installed:
1. You must have a seperate SF1 installation for this campaign.
2. Make sure you patch the SF1 install to the latest released patches mentioned above.
3. Then install the all inclusive Iran Iraq campaign (102 MB file) found at www.combatace.com ( follow installation instructions carefully including the seperate F-14a(IAF) and MIg-25PD install)
4. Install the latest weapons pack.
5. Then install this quick update.
Enjoy!
MK2
I include the original Iran Iraq War read me file below:
This campaign is based on the Iran Iraq war that lasted from 1980-1988. It includes New terrain,, Persian music, photos, new screens, new sound files, new planes, new skins, and campaign files, heavily researched air units for Iran Iraq, historical air bases and locations.
This needs to be a separate install.
STEP 1
Please make sure your sf1 game installation follows this path (or the medals will not work): C:\IranIraq\Strike Fighters\Flight etc.
OR
You may go into the MedalsIRAQ.ini AND MedalIran.ini files (located in the "flight" folder of this zip) and change the path if you so desire (AS AN Example ADDING d:\ drive instead of C:\ ).
STEP 2
Please install the contents of the folders to their respective locations (not the folders themselves but what is located inside).
STEP 3
You must have the following additional planes(and weapons pack) installed.
Mig-25PD
F-14a(iaf)
Latest Weapons pack (can be found at www.combatace.com)
There is also an optional skin pack that adds even more skins to the Iraqi side created by Phamtuan called : Phamtuan_Skinpack_Iraq that can be used to enhance the game. it may be found at wwww.combatace.com
Step 4
Go to the terrain folder in your SF1 directory. Locate the desert folder. Locate the Desert cat file. Copy file over into the IR folder located in the terrain folder (if you followed the instructions outlined above). Rename the Desert cat file in your IR folder from : Desert to : IR
IMPORTANT NOTES*****
#1 There is a known issue while flying from some of the bases that will occur when there is a heavily overcast day with low cloud cover. You will not see the runway due to the clouds, your plane will be positioned above them on the runway. You may take off as normal and it does not affect game play. This is a visual glitch probably due to the terrain elevations and it is relatively rare.
#2
In order to properly simulate a protracted ground war (after all this war ended in a stalemate after 8 years!)
we have frozen the ground offensives and they will not start for approximately 9 months of game time. If you play the entire campaign through, it will start before the campaign ends. This method is probably more historical.
If you would like to change this setting, it is very easy to do. You need to open the IranIraq_data.ini file and find the following file:
StartGroundOffensive=270
For both Force 1 (Iran) and Force 2 (Iraq) you may then change the value.
Be warned that changing these settings may result in strange results (the war ending after several months as an example).
Credit for this campaign goes to:

WoV A&G Expansion Pack: New Terrain Items
for Older Expansion Pack Installations
------------------------------------------
This package contains an updated set of terrain files for users of the WoV Expansion Pack who installed the original Expansion Pack distribution from December 2009 and all the subsequent updates through the "Feb. 2010 Refresh." It was created to bring older Expansion Pack installations current with the "updated" Expansion Pack files that were released early March 2010 without forcing users to download the complete set of "updated" installation files.
- If you downloaded and installed the Dec. 2009 version of the Expansion Pack and also installed the "Feb. 2010 Refresh," then this update package is for you.
- If you downloaded and installed the Dec. 2009 version of the Expansion Pack but did NOT install the "Feb. 2010 Refresh," then you can upgrade to the most current version of the Expansion Pack *only* by downloading the complete, updated set of installation files. You can find the three part set of updated Expansion Pack installation files here:
Part 1:
http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=10281
Part 2:
http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=10282
Part 3:
http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=10300
- If you downloaded and installed the WoV Expansion Pack on or after 3 March 2010, then this update package is NOT for you -- the "updated" Expansion Pack files from March 2010 already contain all the files from this update.

Installation
~~~~~~~~~~~~
To install this update, simply copy the contents of the \To_Install_Dir directory to your WoV Installation Directory. In other words, drag and drop the \Terrain folder to your WoV Installation Directory, overwriting as prompted.
That's it. You should be good to go.
Alamo 2010
Global Terror takes a new twist with the supremacy of Neo-Fascist rule in South America.
States bordering the new Fourth Reich are given a simple ultimatum: submit or be obliterated.
The National Socialist party sweeps to power in Mexico, peddling a litany of hatred and racism. Blaming the country's woes on its rich American neighbour, the Mexican vassal state of the New Fourth Reich launches a blitzkrieg into Texas. Funded by world Fascism, the latest available technology is pitted against the USAF. . .
As the Texicans scramble to defend their state, the battle cry goes out. . .
Remember the Alamo!
****************
Confederacy 2010
Against the backdrop of challenging world opinion and the continuing war on terror, and the ever-growing clamour following alleged civil and human rights abuses, coupled with growing crime and murder rates on the domestic front, the liberal and progressionist leader of the USA proposes a new Bill of Rights to Congress. Abolishing the Right to Bear Arms and the Death Penalty, the Bill provokes the greatest intellectual and popular debate on the state of the American Nation for 150 years. When the Bill passes the first stage of the legislative process, a powerful lobby of State Governors demand a referendum of the people before the Federal Government proceeds further. The referendum is held, but the result referred to the Federal Supreme Court following a "miscount" in a crucial swing State.
The Bill is passed on the authority of the Supreme Court. Allegations of political interference in judicial independence are levelled, but the Washington Administration holds firm. The Federal Government issues an ultimatum: an amnesty for all citizens who surrender their weapons within 30 days, otherwise face prosecution to the full extent of the new law.
The State Governors of Texas, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana and South Carolina responded: no citizen shall be required to surrender any weapon, invoking the Second Amendment as interpreted by the US Supreme Court Decision of "District of Columbia vs Heller" 2008 07-290.
Washington is unimpressed, citing the authority of the legislative process of the Federal Government. Popular demonstrations in the southern states multiply. As the western world looks on in horror, the Federal Government mobilises national troops to "maintain public order in disruptive States." The State Governors protest that such an order is unconstitutional. As the first Federal soldiers cross State borders, the Governors call out the militias in defence of their citizens' constitutional rights. With emotions running high, the call is answered. . .
Yom Kippur 2010
Fictional Modern-day Campaign
for Wings Over Israel
by Baltika
****************
The near future. . .
The peace process in the Middle East is in danger of falling apart. Border clashes continue daily and tensions between Syria and Israel rise to breaking point.
Iran continues to flex its military muscle, secretly developing nuclear weapons capability and engaging in a massive build-up of conventional forces.
Finally, the flashpoint comes when the Islamic Egyptian Jihad assassinate the pro-western Egyptian President. Revolution sweeps Egypt and a new strongly pro-Arab, anti-Western fundamentalist government takes power.
With the main Western powers bogged down in an increasingly bloody and futile conflict in Afghanistan, the world looks on in horror as a new Jihadist coalition of Syria, Egypt, Iran and Algeria launch a full-scale offensive to bring about the obliteration of Israel. . .
*Version 1.1*
This update lowers the intensity level from Version 1.0. Only enemy squadrons located nearest the border will be assigned missions. Supply has also been reduced for friendly and enemy squadrons. As a result, fewer enemy aircraft should appear in the air, better reflecting the limited nature of the historical conflict. Make no mistake, occasionally the campaign engine will generate large aerial engagements; this is historical, as well.
Some base assignments have also been altered to better reflect historical positioning. In particular, IAF 101 Squadron has been moved to Bir Gafgafa on the Sinai Peninsula. The IAF maintained a Mirage detachment there throughout the Attrition War period; expect plenty of action along the Suez Canal.
*The Campaign*
This campaign depicts the situation in the Middle East as it stood between June 1967 and October 1973. Based on the stock WOI Yom Kippur campaign, it begins in July 1967 and ends in September 1973. When combined with “War for the Water” and “Golan Stalemate,” the player can begin in 1963 and fly a continuous nineteen-year IAF career.
There will be no all-out air offensive; this is a long, limited conflict. Ground offensive has been disabled, so borders remain static. Supply is minimal, restricting the number of aircraft in the sky. Mission mix includes routine patrols punctuated by occasional strike missions into enemy territory. You may fly a maximum of fifty missions, roughly one every forty-five days.
IAF fighter and strike squadrons start out with their historical aircraft, entering the campaign at the time they were activated. Some squadrons will upgrade both their livery and their aircraft type during the course of the campaign.
This version is made to operate with Formosa terrain Version 1.0
Using the new Formosa V1.0 terrain, I was able to create a campaign which also uses most of the new aircraft.
Aircraft like the: EF-2000, F-22, AV-8B, Gripen, and the SU-27.
There are a lot of downloads to get. You should be able to find them all here.
A detailed readme is included, with all the credit, for the people who did the real work.
PACIFIC AIR WAR
THE BATTLE OF THE PHILIPPINES 1941-42
v1.1
31 July 2008
**********************************************
A Campaign Mod for SFP1/WoV/WoE
by Baltika
**********************************************
On 7 December 1941, Imperial Japan launched a combined full-scale assault on the Dutch East Indies, the Philippines and the Malay Peninsula. The US Fleet was attacked and decimated at Pearl Harbor. Allied defence strategy was predicated on Japan attacking only a single Allied power, with the others sending military assistance in the event of an assault. The Japanese grand strategy left the Allies reeling, falling back on every front under the strength and ferocity of the Japanese attack.
Lt. Gen. Masaharu Homma, commander of the Japanese 14th Army, was tasked with the invasion of the Philippines. Vice Admiral Ibo Takahashi commanded the IJN 3rd Fleet, Philippines Force, for the amphibious assault. Air Support was provided by the IJAAF 5th Air Group under Lt. Gen. Hideyoshi Obata, and the IJNAF 11th Air Fleet under Vice Admiral Nishizo Tsukahara.
Gen. Douglas MacArthur commanded the combined US and Philippino defensive force, organised into the US Army Forces in the Far East.
Maj. Gen. Lewis H. Brereton commanded the Far East Air Force, consisting of P-40 Warhawk, B-17 bomber and P-35 Guardsman squadrons. The Philippino Air Force fielded a squadron of valiant but outclassed P-26A "Peashooters."
The Battle of the Philippines lasted until the final surrender of the garrison on 8 May 1942. The survivors suffered brutal treatment in captivity. Thousands died on the "Bataan Death March" or working in slave labour camps.
The Philippines were finally liberated in 1945. But that is another story. . .
There are detailed instructions on how to create a "Philippines 1941" terrain which will sit alongside Edward's 1945 original so you can fly both. Please see below.
For v1.1 I have included updated .HFD and .TFD files only, which flatten and tile the additional airbases featured. Thanks to Edward for creating his many excellent WW2 terrains for SFP1. S!
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
It is recommended that you install this campaign to a dedicated PTO install of SFP1/WoV/WoE. You don't need a separate install just for this campaign, it will sit happily in an existing PTO install. Just be careful about over-writing any of your modded files. The most obvious one is the SquadronList.ini. Unzip the d/l package to a temp file and check its contents before installation. If unsure, BACK UP YOUR MODS FIRST!!!!!!!!!
If you have already installed v1.0 of this campaign, simply unzip the files to a temp folder, and then copy them over to your existing install, overwriting when requested to do so. Make sure you don't have any "nested" folders when copying over.
If you are starting from scratch, here's the drill:
1. Install Strike Fighters Project One
2. Patch up to v 083006
3. Install Bunyap's weapons pack (Required for WW2 weapons)
4. Delete all stock aircraft
5. Install the aircraft, ground objects and terrain listed above
6. Install Charles' WW2 formations mod
7. Install the PAW1 Campaign Mod files to the relevant folder of your new install. The simplest thing is to retain the file structure and copy the unpacked files over. It should be obvious where everything has to go. Overwrite when requested to do so. You may want to backup your original SQUADRONLIST.INI. Or, just cut and paste the squadrons from the included list to the end of your current one, renumbering where the last one leaves off.
8. VERY IMPORTANT! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
9. Browse to your /Terrain folder. You will see folders called "Phillipines" [sic] and "Philippines1941" - inside the Philippines1941 folder is just a bunch of .ini files, some new planning maps and 1941 static P-40E skins, credit to Wrench. Open the "Phillipines" folder, and copy and paste its entire contents into your "Philippines1941" folder, EXCEPT the following files:-
P40E1.BMP
P40E1Dest.BMP
P40E2.BMP
PlanningMap1.bmp
PlanningMap2.bmp
PlanningMap3.bmp
Phillipines.INI
Phillipines_briefing.INI
Phillipines_DATA.INI
Phillipines_dogfight.INI
Phillipines_movement.INI
Phillipines_nations.INI
Phillipines_targets.INI
Phillipines_types.INI
Phillipines.HFD
Phillipines.TFD
You will see that the 1941 terrain folder already contains the necessary .ini files. I have also resized Wrench's P-40E OD skin to be used for the parked P-40s. Otherwise you will get the wrong type of P40 for 1941 parked on your runways. I have also included new planning maps for the 1941 version of the Philippines terrain.
11. IF YOU DO NOT CARRY OUT THE ABOVE STEPS YOU WILL GET A CTD WHEN YOU TRY TO FLY THE CAMPAIGN ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
12. If you are running WoV/WoE, you will need to change the catfile pointer in the terrain.ini to get it to work properly. Any problems, give me a shout.
That's it. "Battle of the Philippines" should now be available at the campaign selection screen.
****************************************************************************************************
KNOWN ISSUES:-
************
1. Flying the Val off the IJN Ryujo, you will probably blow up on the deck. I think it has to do with the positioning of the catapults and the size of the plane, but I don't know how to fix it. The Zero works just fine. So, if you really want to fly a whole campaign in the Val, select start mission "In Air" or "Near Target." Downloading the updated Val available at Combatace may fix this.
2. On the subject of the Ryujo, I know the model used is the IJN Akagi. There are quite a few placeholders for unit types etc, but these are marked in the main campaign_data.ini if you are interested. You can easily swap the Akagi for Hinchinbrooke's IJN Zuiho, which is closer to the light carrier model. Install the Zuiho, and change the CarrierType= Flag in the Carrier Units section of the campaign_data.ini to read CarrierType=Zuiho. I got random CTDs after doing this, but it may be something in my install.
3. The north end of Luzon is behind the 50k "Wall" at the edge of the map. For this reason, Japanese ground forces have already landed at the start of the campaign, and you may bump into the wall in the early days.
4. The ALT+N function often makes you crash into the mountains in central Luzon, particularly flying a Zero campaign. To avoid this, make good use of your planning map to move your waypoints to ensure your flight path is over low ground where possible. Otherwise, fly the whole mission from the deck and back. Yes, you heard me, pilot ;-)
5. There are a lot more Japanese planes available which are not flyable in campaign. This is because the bulk of the Japanese forces start on "off-map" bases on Formosa. Thanks to Stwa for that particular trick, cheers, mate ;-) Maybe in chapter two you can fly a Tony or whatever ;-)
6. I have now much more thoroughly playtested the ground war, and it should run properly. It is quite carefully scripted to achieve a historical outcome. However, a few odd things may still happen in the campaign. Please report any strangeness to me at combatace, cheers ;-)
7. If you don't like the red text for start/end campaign screens, browse to your SFP1/Menu folder and delete the OVERLAYTEXTSETTING.INI file to go back to the stock text colour.
Out of Africa '77
The 1st Marine Expeditionary Force is assigned to protect the lawfully elected government of Madagascar from a Soviet-backed Communist insurgency. The self-styled "Malagasy People's Liberation Army" is carrying out a campaign of terror against the populace and openly confronting government forces. The MPLA is a known terrorist organisation which is secretly supplied with arms, equipment and training by the USSR.
Meanwhile, North Korea is massing troops on the DMZ. The bulk of USMC forces are urgently required to stabilise the situation in Korea, and the main elements of the CVBG are ordered to make all speed to South Korea.
The US Government knows that it is essential to maintain a military presence in Madagascar or the MPLA will seize control. Honoring its commitment to defend Madagascar, VMA-542 'Tigers' and VA-153 'Blue Tail Flies' are ordered to provide Combat Air Support to the remaining ground troops of 1 MEF. 1 MEF is ordered to hold the line against the Communist advance.
The supply situation is critical. There is no ETA for relief of the USMC forces on station. Make every shot count.
// -------------------------------------------------
Red Africa '77
The Malagasy People's Liberation Army is heavily engaged in a patriotic war to free the people from the autocratic rule of the current President. The worker's army is opposed not only by the corrupt government troops, but by Imperialist American forces who oppose the liberation of the Malagasy People.
The MPLA have two Tank Brigades and a squadron of aging MiG-17 fighters. They are supported by neighbouring Mozambique, whose government is sympathetic to the MPLA cause.
Soviet foreign policy dictates that the revolutionaries be given military aid to preserve Soviet interests in the region.
The Imperialists must be crushed!
// --------------------------------------------------
I recently re-discovered the utter gorgeousness of this terrain by Deuces and USAFMTL (Dave), with Treemod by Stary, and wanted to do something to say thanks to the guys who made it possible.
So, I have completely re-vamped the original "Out of Africa" Campaign included with the terrain d/l to include a fully-fledged "USMC vs Communist Insurgents backed up by the Soviets" backs-to-the-wall defence of democracy on Madagascar.
The main reason for the upgrade was to bring the Madagascar terrain.ini files up to speed to support all the various mission types, and to create a full ground war for the 1977 campaign.
I have tried to stay as true as possible to the original intentions, I hope this will meet with the author's approval. This is one tough campaign to beat.
Full credit to Dave (USAFMTL) for the original campaign concept and core files on which this mod is completely based.
Enjoy!
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:-
1. Install Madagascar Terrain, and the MiG-17 "mad" skin from the terrain d/l package. Please note, it is not necessary nowadays to copy and re-name the terrain catfile, just set the catpointer in the terrain.INI file to the correct catfile.
2. Install Madagascar Treemod
3. Fly around a bit if you like, and wonder at the beauty of it all. Cheers to Deuces and Przemek, thanks guys ;-)
4. Install the listed aircraft. You will need to check the Mystere's weapons are in your wep pack. Likewise with the MiG-21SM's missiles.
5. If you wish to fly Red Africa campaign, you will need to make the stock TW MiGs flyable by adding cockpits. But, you've already done that, right? ;-)
6. Depending on which game(s) you have, you may have to copy out some of the tanks. The required tanks are all in WoE, but do not all come stock in SFP1/SFG/WOV
7. Then, and only then, install the various files included in this d/l pack. Overwrite when prompted. I have packaged it up so it should be obvious where it all has to go. You must use the included terrain .ini files or the campaign ground war won't work.
8. Select "770114 Out of Africa '77" from the Campaign selection screen, and go fight the Commies.
9. Alternatively, select "770114 Red Africa '77" from the Campaign selection screen, and go fight the capitalist Imperialists.
10. Drop me a PM if you find any bugs or glitches, or to say hello, or to say thanks for the Red Flyable campaign, if you were one of the 2 people who asked for one ;-)
11. The included files are completely compatible with Canadair's Out of Africa 3 v1.5 campaign, so don't worry if you already have that installed.
12. And if I may make a personal request of Deuces, or Dave, or even Stary. If any of you guys still have the original TextureList which was used to build the released version of the Madagascar terrain, could you shoot it over to me please? The VN Texturelist included with the terrain d/l is missing many of the required tiles, and I can't create a texturelist from scratch without messing up all the detailed tiling that has already been done. I would really like to add a few airbases, cities, settlements and so forth, and populate the islands, etc, etc, with a view to building a modern-day campaign for this terrain, and expanding the targetlist; but it can't be done without the original texturelist. Thanks again for all the hard work which has obviously gone into this terrain.
13. For those with WOE, I have included an alternative campaign DATA.INI file which will use the stock AV-8A as a flyable in place of the AV-8C. Just re-name this file to replace OUTOFAFRICA77_DATA.INI file if you wish to use it. I have noticed, while test-flying Red Africa campaign, that the 08 patch level AI has some trouble flying the AV-8C. It may be that the FM for that bird needs an upgrade to the latest game build level. That is beyond the scope of this mod.
Happy Hunting!
Cheers to one and all!
