Nakajima B5N1 Carrier Air Groups Skin Pak -- 2/5/09

"Pearl Harbor & Midway Attackers" The Bombers Part 2

This package contains a set of 6 NEW skins and decal sets for DATs B5N1 "Kate" carrier based torpedo/level bomber.

These skins are designed for a 'start of the war' time frame, up until approximately July/September 1942. Basically, up until Midway, although Shokaku and Zuikaku skins could probably be used up until the Battle of the Eastern Solomons and/or Battle of Santa Cruz time frame.

You MUST have the DATs Kate to install this pack to! Full instructions and stuff are in the enclosed readme. READ IT after unzipping

    2. D3A "Val" Pearl Harbor Air Groups

Aichi D3A "Val" Carrier Air Groups Skin Pak -- For SF/WoV/WoE WW2 PTO installs

"Pearl Harbor Attackers" - The Dive Bombers

This package contains a set of 6 NEW skins for Pasko's D3A "Val", IJN carrier based dive bomber.

These skins are designed for a 'start of the war' time frame, up until approximately Feb/March 1942, when the paint scheme began to change from the 'light gray' to a 'camo green' for the stike aircraft.

The carrier dive bomber groups represented here are:

      Akagi
      Hiryu
      Kaga
      Shokaku
      Soryu
      Zuikaku

as seen on the morning of 7 December, 1941, during the Attack on Pearl Harbor. This is obviously the "start of the war" paint scheme, of the light gray. Some of these aircraft also operated over China, prior to the Hawaiian Operation, and wore this same paint job.

They are NOT 100% historical; there are a few certain liberties I've taken to make them more usable for a slightly longer timeframe than should be historically accurate (more in the "Other Notes" section below). In other words, some squadron and flight specific markings have NOT been created. Although simpler in execution, it does gaul my sense of propriety and my bent toward "as close to 100% accuracy as possible". Such is life! :(

The skin were created using a new template I created, based on the original skins, resized to 1024, with all new panel and rivet lines; all new individual aircraft tail codes for 18-21 aircraft (depending on the ship) have also been supplied.

Also included are modified data, loadout and cockpit inis. The loadout ini uses the correct WW2 Japanese bombs, the data and cockpit inis have been 'metric-ized' to show meters, kilometers per hour, etc (like I've done for several other Axis aircraft). NEW damage tgas have also been created and included, for that shot-up look. My Hangar and Loading screens are here as well, for those that might want to use them.

= IMPORTANT: These aircraft are designed for use in SF/WoV/WoE -ONLY-, It has =NOT= been tested it in post 8/28/08 patch WoI, or post 9/08 - 10/08 patch SF/WoV/WoE. You use it in these enviroments at YOUR own risk. =

= This mod is designed for use with the Bunyap Weapons Pak of 6/06, as it contains all the needed weapons . If attempting to use this aircraft with any other weapons pak, you'll need to add ALL the WW2 era bombs, torpedoes, etc. They are NOT included in this package. =

Full, detailed instructions are in the enclosed readme. The Commander of the Combined Fleets REQUIRES that you read it ... or take the Honorable Way Out...

      Good Hunting!

    4. Medals & Musics Pack for Edward's Korean War

This mod provides completely reshaped systems of awards, for the main belligerents present in Edward's mod intended to recreate the Korean War (available in Combatace downloads): the USAF, the USN/USMC, the Royal Australian Air Force, and the Soviet Air Force. Remember that in the early 1950s, the newborn US Air Force was still using mainly US Army decorations.

The sources for decorations pictures are : stock SFP1, stock First Eagles, Charles' Medals Pack v2.0, my own Flesh 'n Metal for WoV (both available in Combatace downloads), and some new personal creations devoted to that mod. The complete lists of now available awards are detailed in the ReadMe.

The mod also replaces many in-game musics with new ones providing a softer, Far-Eastern-sounding ambiance. Try them.

    5. National counters for Operation Desert Storm

This mod is an adaptation from First Eagles' planning map, where different colors can be displayed for each present nationality. It provides you with a batch of colorful, reduced-size counters, devoted to each of the nationalities present in Operation Desert Storm. Besides having a more attractive map and less confused stacks, you can also find more easily the units you're after. As a rule, the counters with rectangular national flags and brigade/division devices show the ground units, while the counters with roundels concern the air units.Besides all of the present units, I have included counters for units not used in the original Desert Storm campaign, but which were present and played a significant role, and as such could be used in a upgraded campaign. Namely an air counter for the French Armée de l'Air, and ground counters for the forces of Egypt, Syria (division-sized units), and Saudi Arabia (miscellaneous brigades).

Updated version October 2011: the US air counters now display the adequate low-visibility roundels.

    9. Counters and screens for Battle of Britain

This mod provides you with lots of new screens for the Battle of Britain add-on for SF1 by Baltika. Most of the screens are built out of relevant screenshots from Guy Hamilton's “Battle of Britain” (1969), which already gave all of the musics provided in the BoB add-on. I hope they will please those who enjoyed the movie like I did.

Battle of Britain Campaign Pack - Beta v0.60a

While the BoB add-on is designed to be installed over Strike Fighters, Wings over Vietnam or Wings over Europe, and clearly not over Wings over Israel (many problems noticed), I preferred to use the screens' frames of WoI to design my screens. I find these screens using the WoI frames more attractive, and giving informations clearer on transparency over dark pictures. Just have a look at the propsed screenshots. As I have included here the ini files from WoI, the screens should work without problems on an installation from SF1, WoV or WoE. Yet, there may still be some possible problems if you run other add-ons using non-WoI screens' frames on this same installation. Please read carefully the full ReadMe notice and the warnings in the installation instructions.

A set of dedicated menu screens exists for each air force, you can switch at will from one to the other according to your present campaign or mood. But you will notice that several BaseScreens or end screens don't match with screens actually used in the BoB add-on. My generic BaseScreens have been designed per model of planes, while BoB uses screens per flyable unit; my generic end screens have been designed per air force, while BoB uses screens per model of planes. I chose such generic screens for those like me who have since long modified the original BoB campaign files to have many more units flyable, taking advantage from the countless new skins available down here since the BoB add-on release. The ReadMe notice will give you clear instructions (anyway, I do hope so!) about how to proceed to adapt either this pack or the game's files.

This mod also provides you with a batch of colorful, reduced-size, more immersive counters, devoted to each of the nationalities present in the Battle of Britain add-on. Besides having a more attractive map and less confused stacks, you can also find more easily the units you're after. As a rule, the counters with rectangular national flags and division or corps devices show the ground units, while the counters with roundels concern the air units.

As a bonus, I have also included a 'French' folder containing a translation in French language of all of the campaign texts (units presentations, campaign intros and epilogues) – for those who have chosen an installation in French language from an Euro version.

Enjoy fighting over the misty Thames !

    10. Supermarine Scimitar Tweeks Pak

      Scimitar F1, F1 (60) Tweeks Pak
      =For SF2

A small 'tweeks' pak for Paulopanz's recently released upgrade kit for the DAT Scimitar. Be advised, you'll still NEED Paulo's Pak and the aircraft LOD from the DAT as outlined in his readme. Otherwise, this just plane won't work.

      Things changes/adjusted/modified:

      - Loadout/Data ini tweeks re-adds the rocket pods for both,
      - Year-specific loadout for F.1(60) adds the the AGM-12 Bullpup missile in 1964 (included UK version) for Anti-Shipping missions,
      - New DDS damage textures for both,
      - Revamped SF2 version of my artwork Hangar Screen for both
      - Other small data ini tweeks adjust rolling radi, statments added that allow wing position lights to move with wings when folding, slight armor adjustments,
      - All weapons switched to UK versions (bombs, rocket pods, etc)

All weapons used, excepting the included Bullpup, are stock in-game 3W versions.

As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them!! With many thanks to Paulo for his work!!

    12. Decorations for WW2 Luftwaffe - For SCW, BoB, WoA & WoR

This mod provides you with a pack of German decorations used within the WW2 Luftwaffe, and that appeared at various times during the global conflict, as well as ten panels covering the main free mods for WW2 European aerial campaigns produced for Thirdwire games: Battle of Britain by Baltika (map by Gepard) is available at CombatAce, while the three of Spanish Civil War, Wings over Africa and Wings over Russia are all-inclusive mods, collectively designed by The Dev A-Team, available at Capun Skunkworks (two eras 1941-43 and 1944-45 are distinguished for WoR). Each of these five eras and theaters of operations are divided in one panel for fighter pilots, and one for bomber pilots, with relevant criterias for awarding, for a given total of ten panels.

The core of this pack is still made of the decorations provided by Charles Gunst (Iron Cross both classes and neckbands, Cross for War Merit, Wound Badge...), yet with a few ones discarded, and many, many others added:
The Combined Pilot's-and-Observer's Badge (Gemeinsames Flugzeugführer- und Beobachterabzeichen), for experienced airmen.

The Cross of Spain (Spanienkreuz), available in four classes (bronze, silver, gold, and diamonds), for veterans of the Condor Legion in SCW.
The Honor Goblet (Ehrenpokal) of the Luftwaffe for special achievement in air warfare, established in February 1940 to reward deserving airmen not yet worthy of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.
The German Cross (Deutsches Kreuz) in gold, established in November 1941 with the same intent.

Combat Clasps (Frontflugspangen), established in January 1941 in bronze, silver and gold, later with pennants, for a given number of operational missions. Available models for day fighters, or for Stuka/ level bombers pilots.
Mentions in the Wehrmachtbericht (daily radio report from the German Supreme Command), for special feats, materialized by eight selected covers of “Signal”, the Wehrmacht's bimonthly illustrated propaganda magazine. After 1944, a Honour Roll Clasp (Ehrenblattspange) can also be displayed.
The cuff title 'Afrika', for WoA campaigns.
Seven foreign decorations: Spanish Campaign Medal and Military Medal (for SCW); Italo-German African Campaign Medal, Italian pilot's badge and Gold Medal for Military Valor (for WoA); Order of the Crown of Romania and Hungarian Fire Cross (for WoR, 1941-43 and 1944-45).

As a bonus, I have included a folder translating in French all of the citations texts – for those who have chosen an installation in French language. Just delete if not interested in.

    13. Soft targets for Wings Over Africa

While working on some new campaigns for Wings Over Africa, I have examined many detailed orders of battle for ground units and sub-units. And always in search of ultimate accuracy, I have realized that several of these units, even at division-level, couldn't honestly be materialized on this dusty battlefield with any of the many tanks, SP guns, or even armoured cars provided with the mod. Lacking armour and engines, these units should be definitely classified as 'soft' targets. Yes, that sort of targets that allow pure fighters even carrying machine-guns only to enrich their score anyway, besides...

Needless to say (safe for credits and acknowledgements), this work is an adaptatation from Kesselbrut's famous mod providing infantry squads and AT guns crews as 'soft' ground objects. Some files and several skins come from Heck's work for First Eagles, a handful of other skins come from various other objects, sometimes with my own graphical modifications. Proper credits and links are given in the ReadMe file. These new infantry objects will be required for a couple of new campaigns for WoA that I plan to deliver soon.

    14. National counters for Wings Over Russia

This mod provides you with a batch of colorful, reduced-size, more immersive counters, dedicated to each of the belligerent nationalities in Wings Over Russia, the free mod for WoE developed by The Dev A-Team. Besides having a more attractive map and less confused stacks, you can also find more easily the units you're after. As a rule, the counters with rectangular national flags and division (Axis) or corps (Soviet) devices show the ground units, while the counters with roundels concern the air units.

The represented nations are either present in the only campaign existing at the moment, or available for possible new campaigns and theaters on this tremendous Eastern Front (Finns, for instance). Three “nations” have also been added to the list (replacing others, actually): the Soviet Guards, the Soviet Navy, and the Free Czechs (who flew within the Red Air Force, like the French and Poles). You can see on the illustration the graphical interest of having the growing numbers of Guards units distinguished from the other stacked Soviet ones.

The modified Nations list also associates adequate lists of ranks with several of the air forces who fought over Russia, and adds some other slight modifications to reflect some realities of the Eastern Front.

    15. Soft targets for Wings Over Russia

While working on some new campaigns for Wings Over Russia, I thought it could be a good idea to transpose into the infinite plains of Mother Russia my former mod providing infantry objects for Wings Over Africa – and thus, to hand over soft targets to be strafed by your Shturmoviks and Jabos. Here you will find Soviets and Germans, but also Romanians, Hungarians, Italians, Poles and Finns: actually, several of the enclosed units are linked to Eastern battlegrounds not included at the moment in Wings Over Russia (Poland in 1939, Finnish Winter & Continuation Wars, Danubian Europe 1944-45...); but I still hope that in some future they will be!

Once more, this work is an adaptatation from Kesselbrut's famous mod providing infantry squads and AT guns crews as 'soft' ground objects (with some files and skins from Heck's work for First Eagles, a handful of other skins from various other objects, and my own tweaked graphical modifications). Proper credits and links are given in the ReadMe file.

    16. P-40E Soviet skins Pack

Working on a new campaign for Wings Over Russia (the liberation of Crimea, April-May 1944), I realized that I needed skins for the Lend-Lease 'Kittyhawks' used by several air units of the Black Sea Fleet during this campaign. So a little makeshift trick appeared to be necessary, to provide skins to the A-Team's P-40E. Clearly not a graphical artist, I had to select an existing skin that could be modified at lowest costs. Two of these skins are modified from a Desert skin by Scrapper, the third from a two-tones skin by Starfighter2. All of the credits and links are given in the ReadMe file. The P-40E with a shark-mouth nose-art (borrowed from Gramps' Desert skin for the No.112 Sqn RAF) is dedicated to the 7th Naval Fighter Regiment, which displayed this design for some time in 1943-44.

    17. American SouthWest - Ver 2.0

American SouthWest Terrain, Version 2.0 for SF/WoE/ WoV and probably WoI, FE and SF2

This is a complete rebuild of the terrain originaly released in Feb 2008. It has been completely retiled, and has had a MAJOR upgrade in the targetization. It is designed to COMPLETELY replace that original version. It has been fully updated to use in the post-patch world.

This semi-fictional terrain represents Southern Texas and part of Northeastern Mexico (Tampilas/Monterrey) region, along with part of the western Gulf of Mexico. I use the term 'semi-fictional', as for the most part, the cities and airfields are relatively close to their real life locations, but some fictional target areas have been added for playability. I've designed this to be used in the alternative world of the "Global Sedition" vs the "North American Alliance"; it is, however, usable in any era from 1940-2040, with minor changes in the targets and types inis.

This is a COMPLETE package, with everything needed to just unzip, install, and fly over. All the tiles are included, including several (ie: MOST) repainted to a more 'lush' version. All new TODs have been created, so you'll see lots of trees and small buildings, including the 'skyscrapers' from Polak's city tod. Almost all the original Desert tiles have been repainted to more closely represent the semi-tropical/minimally arid region of the Texas Gulf Coast. Several rivers have been added, and they, for the most part, follow their Real Life ™ courses across the region. The "look" of the terrain should be something between the stock 'Desert' and the overly green of say, Deuces Euro Repaint and/or the GermanyCE terrain. In other words, semi-arid, but with plenty of growing things.

It is reccomended (read: REQUIRED) that you have Pasko's SAMs and Vehicles Pak installed in your GroundObject folder; either or both the Desert or Euro skinned vehicles, plus any additional vehicles such as Kesselbrut's ZIL truck pak, Infantry paks, Moonjumper's fix for the BM-14-16 (adds working Kytusha rockets) and any other SAMS or AAA, vehicles or whatever strikes your fancy. With such an 'open ended' time frame for use, any and all GroundObjects should be available for use.

It has been tested in SF, WoE and WoV, post 9/08 & 10/08 patch levels.. It should work in FE & WoI (also post Expansion Pak and Post Patch) with the correct cat pointer -- this has NOT been tested, however. It should also work in SF2, as long as you adjust the cat pointer lines in the main ini. Pre-patch users may have some issues due to the new way the Game Engine ™ reads/creates height field measurments. Enough data exists in the CA forums for find the anwsers on how to fix it, if needed.

As you've all come to expect, there's a HIGHLY detailed readme with all the "data and materials" necessary to get you up and running. I'd suggest reading it first, after unzipping to a temp folder somewhere

    18. Central Pacific/Mariana Islands for WW2 Installs

Central Pacific/Mariana Islands Terrain For SF/WoV/WoE WW2 PTO mods

This is a brand new terrain, built COMPLETLY from scratch. This is my very first whole terrain, so go easy on me ;) It represents the Mariana Islands approximately mid-1944, at the time of the American Invasion. This is a FULL terrain, with everything included for you to unzip and use, with minimal difficulty.

This is a fairly 'target rich' environment -- there are plenty of items for strike and anti-shipping missions. It is also fairly well defended - so watch out for the flak. There are also 2 completly NEW ground objects, creating via edits of existing terrain objects. They are now fully funcitonal 'obstacles' for infantry assaults. Also are mods of 2 of Hinchbrook's ships for USN usage.

You MUST have ALL the Pacific Objects (ground units, ships, AAA, infantry, etc) already installed in you PTO version of the game; otherwise things may not be appearing. This is especially important for the ships -- the Liberty ship, and all warships, both Allied and Japanese. It's HIGHLY reccomended you have Gepard's "Midway" terrain installed, along with his IJN/USN naval units -- I've made use of them for both Fleets. Don't forget to check Geo's page for more WW2 goodies ... there's a lot of stuff that's usable (and used!) here as well.

There ARE some historical flaws, which as most of you know gauls the daylights out of me; they are fully detailed in the "Notes & Explinations" section below.

The data ini has been upgraded to the semi-latest standards (ie: 2006 patch level). Water effects are active, so Vista users beware...more information for you is below in the Install Instructions. See "Notes for Vista Users". NOTE: this is NOT designed for the post patch world of 9/08 & 10/08!! The terrain's data ini does NOT have the new Height Data included!!! If you insist on using this mod in such an install, expect NO support from me. You're on your own...

= MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST, WW2 NATIONS INI IN YOUR FLIGHT FOLDER =
= MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST WW2 FORMATIONS INI IN YOUR FLIGHT FOLDER =
== MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST WEAPONS PAK FOR THE WW2 WEAPONS!! ==

It has been tested in SF, WoV and WoE, using their cats pointed to in the main ini. As most of the new objects will be residing directly in the terrain folder, you should have no problems. (see the CombatAce Knowledge Base for the tutorial on using the cat pointer line). It has NOT, however, been tested in post 8/29/08 patch WoI or post patch (9/08 & 10/08) SF/WoV/WoE; it is NOT designed for useage in those type of game installs. If you choose to do so, expect NO support from me -- you're on your own. Nor is it designed for use in a 'modern era', as the airfields are far too small for field jets from.

Follow the instructions in the included readme =EXACTLY= and you should have no problems. It's HIGHLY reccomended you read this document completly through before installing this mod.

    19. Hawaii, WW2

Hawaiian Islands Terrain -- For SF/WoV/WoE WW2 PTO installs

= For Game Installs -ONLY- patched to the 10/2006 level!!! =

This is an entirely NEW terrain, representing the Territory of Hawaii on the morning of 7 December, 1941.....

You MUST have ALL the Pacific Objects (ground units, ships, AAA, infantry, etc) already installed in you PTO version of the game; otherwise things won't be appearing. This is especially important for the ships -- More in the "Notes" section below.

This is a COMPLETE terrain, with (almost) everything needed to just unzip, and fly over. All the tiles, inis, terrain objects, and a whole SLEW of new GroundObjects are included!!!

The data ini has been upgraded to the latest standards. Water effects are active, so Vista users beware...more information for you is below in the Install Instructions. See "Notes for Vista Users". For those perverts that won't listen and absolutely INSIST on trying to run WW2 items in the post 9/08-10/08 SF/WoV/WoE and WoI environments, I've provided a 'post-patch-Hawaii_Data.ini', that includes all the updated terrain effects. More info for you all can be found in the "Notes & Other Nonesense" section below. Also, it should be noted the HM bmps for the various tiles are included; these are the ones I've repainted black, to create a smoother terrain.

= MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST, WW2 NATIONS INI IN YOUR FLIGHT FOLDER =
== MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST WW2 FORMATIONS INI IN YOUR FLIGHT FOLDER ==
=== MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST WEAPONS PAK FOR THE WW2 WEAPONS!! ===

It has been tested in pre-patch SF, WoV and WoE, using their cats pointed to in the main ini. As the new objects will be residing directly in the terrain folder, you should have no problems. (see the CombatAce Knowledge Base for the tutorial on using the cat pointer line). It has NOT, however, been tested in post 8/29/08 patch WoI, NOR in post-patch (9/08 & 10/08) SF/WoV/WoE. But should work with minimal problems, as long as one of the original terrain folders (SF/WoV/WoE) is residing in you WW2 WoI install. You do, however, use this in these environments at YOUR own risk -- any problems you have, you're on your own...no support is availabe from me, as it's NOT reccomended (due to FM issues in the aircraft) for those usages. I HAVE actually tested this in a post-patch WoI WW2 Install that I have, and other then the expected FM issues, it runs just fine!! Albeit with a little fiddling with the water issues...
This has NOT been tested in SF2 ... if you DO get a WW2 Era Specific Install up and running, let us know!

Follow these instructions herein =EXACTLY= and you should have no problems. It is HIGHLY reccomended that you read the install instructions all the way through FIRST before performing the procedure. Just to be safe, ya know??
As always, unzip this to a temp folder somwhere, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions.

= It should be noted here, that this Terrain is for WW2 usage ONLY -- if you attempt to fly modern jets from it, you will fail, as there are NO runways equipped to handle them. =

As always, unzip this to a temp folder somwhere, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions

Good Luck, Good Hunting & Happy Landings!

    20. WW2 Palestine

WW2 Palestine Terrain For SF/WoV/WoE WW2 MTO Installs

      -06 Patch Levels ONLY!-

This is a modification of Gepard's "Suez" terrain, backdated for use in WW2 with the approximate timeframe of 1940-1946. Not a great deal of "enhancements" have been added, but you can expect the "usual suspects". Plus one 'generic' Easter Egg (one of the target areas, albiet slightly misplaced - bonus points for IDing its origination)

This is a COMPLETE terrain with all items necessary to unzip, install and fly over. All tiles and TODs are included, as well as several new-to-this-terrain Terrain Objects (buildings and the like) The targets, nations, briefing, movements and types inis have all been greatly expanded to reflect the timeframe. Place names have been adjusted to WW2 levels (where known and discoverable). All 3 levels are Planning Maps have also been newly created, just for this terrain mod.

The data ini has been upgraded to the semi-latest standards (ie: 2006 patch level). Water effects are active, so Vista users beware...more information for you is below in the Install Instructions. See "Notes for Vista Users". NOTE: this is NOT designed for the post-08 patch or SF2 "NextGen" series. The terrain's data ini does NOT have the new Height Data nor the background shader sections!!! (however, these are easily added if you're familiar with the varous terrain data inis, and how to 'update' them).

= MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST WW2 FORMATIONS INI IN YOUR FLIGHT FOLDER =
= MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE NECESSARY WW2 GROUND OBJECTS PAKS!! MOST IMPORTANT!!! =

It has been tested in SF, WoV and WoE, using their cats pointed to in the main ini. As most of the new objects will be residing directly in the terrain folder, you should have no problems. (see the CombatAce Knowledge Base for the tutorial on using the cat pointer line). It has NOT, however, been tested in post 08 SF/WoV/WoE/WoI or any of the SF2 'NextGen' series; it is NOT designed for useage in those type of game installs. If you choose to do so, expect NO support from me -- you're on your own. Although, it should work pretty well, in any case. Some data ini adjustments will probably be required for the additional effects. Although, for more "modern" times, I'd reccomend Isreal2 + the targets enhancement pak.

As always, it's reccomended you unzip this to a temp folder somewhere's thats easy to find. This will give you access to the rest of the readme for full, detailed install instructions and the Usual Notes and Other Ramblings...

Follow these instructions herein =EXACTLY= and you should have no problems. It's HIGHLY reccomended you read this document completly through before installing this mod. There is VITAL information herein about several items not included with this package.

    21. WW2 Tunisia/Western Med Update Pak

Tunisia Terrain & Targets Upgrade For SF/WoV/WoE WW2 MTO mods

This started out as a simple targets upgrade, and turned into a major rework of Edward's Tunisia Terrain for WW2. As you can expect, the targets have been greatly 'enhanced', with many additions, and most areas have been retiled for ease of targetization. The visuals (ie: the eye candy) has been enhanced by these revamped target areas. This will allow single mission and campaign builders more latitude in their creation of missions and campaigns. It also has the side effect of enhancing in-game generated single mission play, too!

This is a COMPLETE terrain, designed to REPLACE the original verison in it's entirety. It is also NOT compatable with any other terrain retiling or TOD mods to the original terrain that are presently available. All necessary parts are included; tiles, inis, LOTS of new terrain items, with the excpetion for some 'permission-only' GroundObject items. All new planning maps are also included. Also, there are at LEAST 3 Easter Eggs on the map. There are also several brand new tiles, and their associated TODs (new city ports and some other interestering items).

There ARE some historical flaws (and probably physical geographic ones as well!!); they are fully detailed in the "Notes & Explinations" section below. You may also experience extended or longer than usual loading times; this is normal due to the shear number of terrain objects on this map.

The data ini has been upgraded to the semi-latest standards (ie: 2006 patch level). Water effects are active, so Vista users beware...more information for you is below in the Install Instructions. See "Notes for Vista Users". It has been tested in 06 Patch Level WoE (my WW2 install of choice), using the cat pointer line to all the Origianl 3 ™ Terrain Cats (Desert, GermanyCE and VietnamSEA). As most of the new terrain objects and tiles are residing directly in the terrain folder, you should have no problems. (see the CombatAce Knowledge Base for the tutorial on using the cat pointer line). It has NOT, however, been tested in post-08 SF/SFG/WoV/WoE/WoI or any of the SF2 'NextGen' series; it is NOT designed for useage in those type of game installs. If you choose to do so, expect NO support from me -- you're on your own. Although, it should work pretty well in most case. Some data ini adjustments will probably be required for the additional effects. Consult the SF2 Knowledge Base at CombatAce for more information on "how to.."

      II. MiG-17F Fighter version
      ***************************************************
TK's MiG-17F based more on the fighter bomber versions which the polish or east germans used in the late 70th and early 80th. In this mod i made the pure fighter version the soviets delivered to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in the 60th.
This version had no wiring for using air to ground weapons in their wings. So they were unable to drop bombs or fire missiles or use rocket pods. On the other hand the soviet delivered MiG-17F had a radio range finder, a radar warning reciever and a 5 shot flare dispenser in the right side of the tail fin.
Later the vietnamese got chinese J-5A (MiG-17F copies) which had not such devices.

    24. MiG-21M Fishbed-G

      MiG-21M Fishbed-G for SFP1, WOI, WOE, WOV

      *************************************
      HISTORY
      *************************************

In the 60th the MiG OKB developed a recon version of the MiG-21. This bird (MiG-21R) got a bigger tank on the back. Basing on the MiG-21R the soviets developed the MiG-21S, a fighter plane with an improved radar RP-22 and a better weapon system. The S had 4 hardpoints under the wings and the big backtank of the R. But it had no internal gun.
For export an simplified version was developed and called MiG-21M. The M looked very similar to the S, but got the old RP-21 radar. Because the costumers demanded an internal gun the MiG-21M got as first plane the GSha-23.
On paper the MiG-21M had a good performance. It was twice as efficient in the ground attack role than the older MiG-21 versions and was also able to carry the double number of air to air missiles. But in reality the pilots did not love this bird. The MiG-21M was much heavier than the MiG-21F, PF, PFM (SPS-K) but had the same engine. So the agility of the older planes was lost. In contrary the MiG-21M was a very stable gun plattform.
Later in service the MiG-21M was updated some times. It got the protection plates below the side air intakes (Startklappen) which should avoid FOD incidents, but also protect against gun smoke which could harm the engine. In some cases the MiG-21M got the engine of the MiG-21MF.

The bird in this package is the basic MiG-21M without protection plates and periscope on the canopy, as it was used in the Warshaw Pact and Syria. It represents an early eastgerman LSK/LV MiG-21M before major upgrates.
