Kamchatka Terrain for SF2 (by Baltika, Ver 2)
By Wrench
Kamchatka Terrain for SF2 (by Baltika, Ver 2) 7/26/2013
= For SF2, FULL 5 Merged - SF2NA REQUIRED!!! =
This is a rebuild of Baltika's Kamchatka terrain. It has been rebuilt (almost)
completly, and is designed to REPLACE, in total, the original 1stGen Version.
The Targets and movements inis have been redone, and are more reflective of the Real
World . Place names have been changed to local spelling (where discoverable,
spellable and pronounable). The Original Easter Egg is still intact; several others
have been added, as expected.
This terrain was (re)built and tested within my SF2:NA mods folder. It makes use of the
various statements and bits (water bmps, etc) that are =REQUIRED= for proper CVBG and
SAG operations. It is suggested that it =ONLY= be used in a pure NA environment. It will
NOT work properly in ANY 1stGen install; so don't even bother asking. NA is also
required, as several 'in port' ships are stock items. Like the Original Release, it is a
"2 Season" terrain. Winter and Not Winter.
It should be noted at this time, you =WILL= be needing all of WhiteBoySamauri's Soviet
Ships, JMSDF ships, JGSDF ground objects, and any JASDF aircraft you can lay your hands
on!! To say nothing of "the usual suspects" US and Soviet ground objects (trucks, tanks,
APCs, AFV/IFV, even more ships, etc). Some are provided, but the rest you'll have to
locate yourself.
Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real
Life courses, be placed in their Real Life locations, or exist at all (read:
there are NO rivers on this map. See Notes for more details). Several cities and other
physical features, and target areas will also fall into that classification. Some target
areas (cities, etc) exist only as named places, with no strategic or tactical values.
Just someplace to fly over.
As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the
rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you read the document through
after unzipping, but -BEFORE- installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense
section may make for entertaining reading, as it explains a few "oddities" you WILL
experience!
Please also read and -OBEY- the New Standard Usage Discalimer, as it's been changed
slightly to reflect a change in my policy. It's listed at the bottom, in the Legal
Statement Section, with the URL back to the CA post.
*Please Note: there are a few items still missing from the terrain, as well as a new
tile set. It is being released "as is", with the caveat that when the new ground object
and new tiles are ready, there =WILL= be an Update Pak. Until then, enjoy!*
Happy Landings!

WW2 Battle of Britain Terrain for SF2
By Wrench
WW2 Battle of Britain Terrain for SF2 8/16/2013
- For SF2, (Full 5 Merged REQUIRED!!!*)
"The Battle of France is over; the Battle of Britain is about to begin..."
This is a (nearly complete) rebuild of the Battle of Britain map by Gepard.
It has been brought (as much as possible) up to SF2 standards, at the May 2013 patch level. It it designed for use in WW2 ETO mods folders built =FROM= the SF2:NA exe.
The terrain has also been completely (well, nearly ~98.6%) retiled using the GermanyCE tile set. Please see the "Notes" section for more info on the tiles. There ARE some custom tiles and TODs.
If you have the original version, or any updated versions, it's suggested you move THAT terrain sub-folder to a storage section, rename it, or delete it from your WW2 ETO mods folder. This version =WILL= completly replace it.
This is map covers western France and Southern England, from Paris to Brisol (east and west) and RAF Whittering to Breast (n/s), with the majority of the target areas in S/E England, and the French Channel Coast. For other targets further inland, and later time frames, it's reccomened you use my EAW WW2 Euro Rebuild, as it's much more detailed and covers a substantially larger area.
This map makes use of the LimitedNations, AllowedDates and AllowedMission statements. There are =NO= CAS routes, ground attack missions are limited to Armed Recon and Anti-Shipping. Strike, of course, for the bombers, remains valid (expecially for the Luftwaffe!). Armed Recon mission are constrained to within approximately 100km of the coastlines (more or less) for BOTH sides. As this map is more designed for the defense of England, rather than cross-channel RAF strikes, this works well (also, vice versa for Luftwaffe bombers and fighters). For those wanting more, use the EAW Euro WW2 rebuild.
OTH, since there is (nearly) enough sea room, several SF2NA "ship zones" are placed on the water bmp. This allows for the generation of Kriegsmarine Surface Action Groups, as well as CV operations for the Royal Navy. If you find these historically offensive, a second _water.bmp is provided, withOUT the zones. A simple bmp rename, and text edit of the terrain's main ini will remove this function. Instructions are in the "Notes" section.
There are some new GroundObjects included; these are ALL at the latest SF2 patch level, and will replace any others. Most are Raven's new LW radars (the Natter SAM is NOT included, as it's 1945 start date is outside this maps operational life span), and some ships by Stephan1918, imported from FE2, and modifided for SF2 usage .
*Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may NOT follow their Real Life courses, or be placed in their Real Life locations, or exist at all. Several cities and other physical features may also fall into this classification; Some populated places may exist only as "named places" on the map. This was done for historical reasons. Many airfields/airports, some of historical significance, may also not exist or placed in the Real Life locations due to tiling constraints.*
When in-game, you'll still see "Battle of Britain" on the terrain selection dropdown window.
It's reccomended you unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you read the document through after unzipping, but =BEFORE= installing.
As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading.
Please also read -and Obey- the New Standard Usage Discalimer, as it's been modified to reflect changes in my policy. It's listed at the bottom, in the Legal Statement Section, with the URL back to the CA post.

OTC Cuba repaint -warmer colours edition
By Stary
As some might find my Cuba repaint (version 1.5) a bit too dull, monotone and on the dark side, here's optional warmer, more colorful and slightly brighter edition of the tileset.
Basically, same as my Cuba repaint version 1.5, just looks and feels tad different (for the better I hope!)
Just unpack to your Cuba terrain folder and overwrite when asked.
CA Freeware License apply. Not to be used as part of any kind of payware.
Have fun,

Formosa Upgrade 2: Airfields Fixes & Other Small Tweeks
By Wrench
Formosa Terrain Update -- Parked Aircraft Fixes (and some other stuff)
Yet more updating of the Formosa terrain, that adds game-generated parked aircraft to Gepard's NATO/WarPac style airbases that are used. Also included are some modified inis that create the LimitedNations (from my recently released pack), some additons to the _Types ini, some targeting tweeks, a 'generic' PLAN Destroyer, modified GermanyCE airbase inis, with increaed parking chances, and a few other little things here and there. You'll have to fly around to find them.
Designed for use with Stary's new terrain tiles, you should have his upgrade installed before adding this one. Although there is very little possibility of conflicts (as this was built with his new stuff in my terrain), it never hurts to be safe, huh??
Speaking of ground objects, you'll find as mentioned, a stand-in PLAN destroyer, inis for Grinch's Fletcher with a new UserList (these were in the Libya 3.75 upgrade, but some folks may not have installed them), AND... a working Silkworm launcher and Styx missile.
While designed for SF2 usage, all the inis are in ANSI, and can easily be used on 1st Gen SF/Wo* versions. However, the Styx missils IS set up for SF2 only. Those knowledgable with weapons editing can easily down-convert to 08 1st Gen levels.
As always, READ the enclosed document for full install instructions.

Formosa Terrain, Limited Nations Tweek
By Wrench
Formosa Terrain, Limited nations Fix
This little tweek for Gepard's Formosa terrain will add the LimitedNations usage, cutting down on the chance of any unwanted visitors to the playground showing up.
This mod consists of the Formosa.ini and Formosa_Nations.ini. Nothing anywhere else is changes; it only creates a 'fixed' number of countries that are allowed here. This tweek, while designed for SF2 series, will also work in SF/Wo* 1st Gens at the 08 patch level, if you've back-converted this terrain to work in 08s.
As always, it's suggested you read this little readme. It's acutally quite short and pretty easy to follow. For a change.
No screenie included.

Libya - Ver 3.75

Lybia Terrain; Updates, Fixes and Clean-Up For SF2 Series (& SF/Wo*, too!)
What started out as a simple, quick "Limited Nations" fix, turned into a semi-major overhaul. This includes some retiling, and some fairly major targeting fixes. It has NOT been completly rebuilt; there might still be a few cities in Libya that might need re-working, but I just didn't want to futz around with them. Also, several of the NATO side targets have been vastly improved upon and expanded. Since I totally lost track of WHAT I added, I've chosen to re-release this as a FULL terrain. It is designed to replace any and all other originals or mods, as everything has been incoporated to this version, plus some additiional stuff and thingys, including some GroundObject tweeks.
As stated above, this is the FULL terrain, with all internal objects needed. You simply need to unzip and install.
This terrain mod, while designed for SF2 merged installs, is easily back-dated for use in all 1st Gen SF/SFG/Wo* game installs at the 08 Patch Level. You'll just need to change the shader statments; instructions are below. Information on the GroundObjects are in the "Notes" section.
Also added are several new tiles, updating of some other tiles (to make them fit and look better), and LOTS of custom TODs for buildings and trees and such. For those that expect them, the 'Easter Eggs' on this terrian a the same as before, with the addition of a new billboard or 2.....
It is also reccomened you have the Pasko's Ground Objects, Kesselbrut's Vehicles Pak, Fast Cargo's SA-5s; in short any and all add-on SAMs, AAA, vehicles, ships, and whatnot from any and all other terrain mods. They are NOT all included. See "Notes" below for information about Stock & 3rd Party Ships. However, some modified data inis for stock and 3rd party AAA units are included, as they are now networked to a search/track/fire control radar.
Be advised, however, of the use of the "LimitedNations=TRUE" statement, thereby limiting WHO gets to play in this sandbox.
It is ALSO highly reccomended you READ this entire document through before installing this mod. If you don't, you're SURE to run into problems. And then, we WILL clown on you.

Himalaya Terrain
By Wrench
Himalaya Terrain Updates, For SF2 Series (& SF/Wo*, too!)
I was unable to find the readme that came with Major Lee's original release, so this will have to suffice. This terrain was first released in 2004.
Some modifications and the like for Major Lee's Himalaya terrain, updating tileing, targeting, movements and suchlike. Designed for use in a Full-4 Merged SF2 install. It should, however, work just fine in standard unmerged installs, and with some editating, in all 1stGen series as well.
As stated above, this is the FULL terrain, with all internal objects needed. You simply need to unzip and install. Some new tiles have been added to make it look a bit more 'lived in', and several new target areas have been added (cause everyone needs someone to bomb...). All the inis have been updated, and a new Movements.ini created for CAS and Armed_Recon missions. This map also makes use of the LimitedNations and LimitedMissions statements for both sides, so you won't have any Anti-ship missions since the nearest ocean is like 1500+ miles to the south. You will also be extracting and editing the game's Nations.ini to add the new nation of Nepal. A new Nepalese ground unit is also supplied.
This terrain mod, while designed for SF2 merged installs, is easily back-dated for use in all 1st Gen SF/SFG/Wo* game installs at the 08 Patch Level. You'll just need to change the shader statments; instructions are below. No editing is necessary for the ground objects; other than having the guns and weapons for the infantry unit.
Also added are several new tiles, creating some cities, hills and mountains, rivers for the region, and filling in the Kathmandu valley with farms and fields. The northern, higher elevations (heading into Tibet and China), while having a city or 2, are still predominantly snow/rock fields. Some liberties have been taken with target placements, but they are named correctly, and more or less in their Real Life locations. Give or take a few dozen kilometers, and several thousand meters in altitude. This terrain mod contains 2 of the highest altitude airbases in any mod ... fly accordingly!
It is ALSO highly reccomended you READ this entire document through before installing this mod. Especially the Notes section. If you don't, you're SURE to run into problems. And then, we'll clown on you. Hard and mercilessly.
Happy Landings!

America Southwest (Texas/Mexico) for SF2
By Wrench
America SouthWest Terrain
Updates, Fixes and Clean-Up For SF2 Series (Full-4 Merged Perfered)
What started out as a simple "straighten out some tiles and fix some target areas", turned into a massive revamp.... Like the original, it takes place in the post-WW3-ish world of the North American Alliance vs the Global Sedition. It is desigened for use any time period post-1950 through the present day (ala The Wingman series, or the TV series 'Jericho' or any of a number of post-apocalyptic movies, books or whathaveyous)
This is the FULL terrain, with some major changes updates, upgrades, etc. The targets, movements, data, types inis have all been expanded extensively. Massive retiling of a majority of the terrain will, hopefully, make it look a bit more like it's Real World counterpart. Place names match the Real World; some however may be slightly displaced due to how terrains are built.
This is designed to REPLACE the original (and it's updates) in it's entirety, and is designed =ONLY= for use in SF2, preferably with a Full-4 Merged Install. This terrain makes use of the Desert cat to "pull" items from. It may work with the Germany or Vietnam, but this has NOT been tested. It will NOT work with the SF2:I Isreal cat. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THE ISREALME CAT WITH THIS TERRAIN!!!The inis have been excessivly edited for use ONLY in the SF2 series. With Expert Level Knowledge on terrains/terrain ini editing, it =may= be possible to back-date/adjust for use in 1stGens. This has NOT been tested, and is NOT reccomended. Those that try, can expect 0, zilch, nada, =no= support from me on this issue. You're on your own -you have been warned.
Also added were many new tiles, updating/repainting of some other tiles (to make them fit and look better), and many new, custom TODs for buildings and trees and such. New planning maps have been generated as well. I'm trying out something 'new' on the symbols and labels, I hope you like it.
And, just for fun, I've included a variety of missions flown over this map. Remember, these are for a Full-4 Merged install, so those that are not merged, may not have all the aircraft available. It goes without saying, that those flown from the Red Side, you MUST have flyable MiGs in your install. They have been editated to make sure all aircraft are stock in a Full-4 Merged.
You will also be making some 'adjustments' to the FlightEngine.ini, with regards to expanding the map borders. This will eliminate certain 'issues' when flying near the map edges. Full, detailed instructions are below, in the "To Adjust Borders" section.
It is ALSO highly reccomended you READ this entire document through before installing this mod. If you don't, you're SURE to run into problems. And then, we'll clown on you. HARD, and mercilessly. As always, unzip this archive to a temp folder or you desktop to gain access to the full readme, and the files herein. Again, as always, there's a "Notes & Other Nonesense" section with explainations and other ramblings.

DBS Limited Nations Tweek
By Wrench
Danger: Bering Straits Nations Fix for SF2 series -ONLY-
Just a small package of 2 inis, that activate the "LimitedNations" statement for the Major Lee's DBS terrain.
This will now effectively "cut off" any nations for single mission play that shouldn't be seen in the region. Obviously, one would NOT expect to find Isreali, North Vietnamese, Belgian, Lybian or anyone else that just plane shouldn't be there.
The nations have been limited to the "usual suspects" for the region:
USAF
USN
USMC
RCAF (CAF)
and
Soviet
Nothing else has been changed, just the players on this playground. So, =all= the normal mission statements (CAS, Sweep, Anti-Ship, etc) are active as normally seen.
It's reccomended for use with the 2 updates that have been released for DBS, and you should have them already before installing this mod:
Bering Straits Terrain Targets Upgrade Pak
http://forum.combatace.com/files/file/7684-bering-straits-terrain-targets-upgrade/
Bering Straits Water Fix Mod
http://forum.combatace.com/files/file/10787-dbs-water-fix/
While designed for SF2 series, it will most likely work in SF/Wo* 1stGens at the 08 patch level that can take advantage of the limited nations statement. However, this has =NOT= been tested. Those that do install to first gens, feedback is requested.
As always, a simple and easy to follow readme is enclosed -- so read it!!! You're actually only changing 2 files, but I'm from the world of CYA, so... READ IT!!

Modern Darwin Terrain, Update Pak
For SF2 - Full-4 Merged Reccomended (but not fully required)
This is an update pak for the Modern Darwin/Timor terrain I released in 2009. It is designed to replace some small bits inside, so you =MUST= have the 2009 update pak for this terrain to install -this- package into.
You can find it at the following URL (this is the complete terrain, WITH tiles):
http://combatace.com/files/file/6089-modern-darwintimor/
This pak updates several inis to SF2 levels, adds a few little fixes to some terrain objects, and for the 12/2010 patch, adds the _Water.bmp that the new mission builder requires. Targeting remains the same, although the Runway2 has been 'repaved' to a full concrete/macdam surface (no more dirt). Some "other items" have also been updated.
The LimitedNations statement has NOT been added, so anyone and everyone can fly here.
As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. REMINDER: this is NOT for the DAT's Timor terrain in their all-inclusive "Wings Over Timor" mod!!! This is for the terrain update listed above ==ONLY==!!!!

India-Pakistan Terrain

This is the first part of the India-Pakistan mod. This package =ONLY= contains the Terrain itself. Follow on packs will the the full GroundObjects, Weapons, Menu Screens, and later, aircraft. (ExpansionPak 1 will be needed for the Vampires, and possibly some others)
This terrain is designed for use with a stand-alone Indo-Pak Mods Folder. Instructions for creating a seperate I/P install are in a seprate Word Doc, and are covered in the CombatAce SF2 Series Knowledge Base. However, it can be placed into any /Terrains folder. Just be advised you'll be missing a LOT of things! Please read the aformentioned Doc for details.
Usage in a 'all is everything' install is NOT reccomended. Doable, yes. Advisable, no. You've been warned.
It is ALSO highly reccomended you READ this entire document through before installing this mod. If you don't, you're SURE to run into problems. And then, we'll clown on you.

Afghanistan Terrain (Modern -2003 & Later)

Afghanistan (Modern - 2003 & Later) Terrain
== For SF2, Full-4 Merged -ONLY- (and/or SF2:I) ==
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS are SF2 and SF2:I, as it uses the IsraelME tileset -- the
tiles are NOT included. However, during the rebuild process I did test it with
Stary's enhanced IME tile set. Several new tiles have been added for his specific
tile set. They ARE included. But DO NOT USE THEM if using the STOCK IME tiles --
there are 'matching tiles' for the stock set, already set up to be used. See the
"To Install" for more information. (meaning: right now, it's pointing to the IsraelME.cat)
This is a small update/upgrade of Gepard's Afghanistan terrain, bringing it more
up-to-date "Modernish", with regards to Allied Operations against the Taliban and
other various Bad Guys . All airfields have been replaced with 'stock', more
Western/NATO looking, as (re)constructed by Western Forces after their arrival in-theatre.
(unfortunately, when matching the airfiled types to 'real world' types, you now
lose the ability to base aircraft needing the LARGE Runway 4 - B-52s, B-1s, etc)
You =MUST= have the Gepard's original terrain to install this to. You can
download it from the following URL:
http://combatace.com/files/file/10404-afghanistan-terrain-version-10/
It will be needed for the various theatre-specific GroundObjects, and Nation.ini
modifications.
It should also be noted, that EricJ's 'enhanced targets' ini is NOT incorporated
into this mod. Due to changes in the types of runways used now, that mod is,
unfortunately, NO LONGER COMPATIBLE with this one.
The "LimitedNations" and "AllowedMissonTypes" statements have been edited to more
reflect the 2003 and later timeframe (I'm sure a left out a NATO component or 2;
please feel free to add whichever country I've missed! And let me know which
ones!)
Remember -- this is just a small, minor overhauling. No real major changes.

Modern Darwin Terrain "CleanUp" Pak

Modern Darwin Terrain, CleanUp Pak
For SF2 - Full-4 Merged Reccomended (but not fully required)
(Reccomended to have the SF2:V VietnamSEA cat readily available)
While working on the Oz-Mirage, I noticed some errors, shall we say, with the Modern Darwin terrain, so decieded to go through it do some clean up. It could still use a major retargeting, but this will enchance things a little until such time as that happens.
Several areas have been completly retiled, some cities moved/removed/renamed/retargeted, and so forth...lots of fiddiling with the Height Field to remove some oddities were performed. I think it's much better now, thank you! <grin>.
If you don't have the terrain already, use the following URLs to download it.
The original terrain is here:
http://combatace.com/files/file/6089-modern-darwintimor/
The SF2 Upgrade Pak is here:
http://combatace.com/files/file/11564-sf2-update-modern-darwin-terrain/
If you already have it in your SF2 install, and have the SF2 update installed, this package is all you need.
HOWEVER....if you wish to enhance the terrain, I'd reccomend Stary's GreenHell3, as it uses the exact same placements as the stock tiles (with some tree exceptions), and is REEEALLLY worth the download. Yes, I've tested the terrain with BOTH tile sets. You can get GH3 from here:
http://combatace.com/files/file/11649-green-hell-3/
NO OTHER TILESETS, OTHER THAN GH3 and the STOCK ONE are RECCOMENDED!!! Otherwise, the TODs =will= foul up the targeting (ie: placements of buliding and GroundObjects). For those wishing to use GH3, a Darwin_Data.ini all set up for that use is suppled.
Several changes to the targets, types, movements inis, along with the invocation of the LimitedNations=TRUE statement should bring this more in line with the Real World .
New planning maps are supplied, too. A modified version of the PLAN Destroyer from my Formosa upgrade is included (changed a few things). No other GroundObjects (read: ships) are included; you should already have them in the game installs, along with the various SAMs, AAA, vehicles, and etc.
Several new, custom TODs for the Grass-river tiles are included, for use =ONLY= with the stock VN-SEA tileset.
Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life courses, or be placed in their Real Life locations. Several cities and other target areas may also fall into that classification.
As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. As always, the expected "Notes" section for whatever reason it's there for!

Cuba (OTC Plus) Terrain
By Wrench
Cuba "OTC Plus" Terrain for SF2
This is a complete rebuild of the 'Operation Tainted Cigar' terrain, that originally represented the time frame of the Cuban Missile Crisis. While revamped with that in mind, everyone knows that I don't build terrains that can only be used for 14 Days. This terrain has been EXTENSIVELY expanded, and has operation years spanning from 1959 (the year of the Cuban Revolution), to the Present Day and Beyond, ie: 1959-2050.
This is a complete terrain, with many new/revamped/replaced/whatever tiles, and includes Stary's Enhanced Cuba pakage (meaning: LOTS of custom-made tiles and TODs). The entire map was gone over completly, moving/removing and adding dozens of new target areas and correcting errors from the original release. Unfortunately, I was not able to generate new planning maps, as for some reason SFMap kept crapping out on this terrain (volenteers, anyone??) My apologies for getting 'stuck with' the old ones.
The targets, types, and movements ini have been expanded to be as historicaly and geophysically accurate as (much as is, with this terrain engine) possible. See "Notes" for more on this. The data ini uses the latest (June 2011) structure. The Limited Nations statement is set to TRUE, reducing the players to those regionally historical.
So as not to conflict with any other Cuba terrain, this is called "Cuba (OTC+)" -this is how it will appear in your dropdown menu. The folder itself is called "CubaOTC". However, this terrain does NOT include the southern US (north of Orlando), Central or South America. Other than that, I think you'll find it enjoyable (no, DisneyWorld/EPCOT is NOT on the map, sorry)
A large number of Ground Objects are included; some you may already have, some are new or revamped versions. Userlists have also been genrated for these, where the user(s) was known and/or discoverable. This also explains the LARGE size of the download - sorry, it's the one way I know that makes sure you have damn near everything necessary to run. Aircraft and skins are NOT included. With luck, I've remembered to add the items necessary; pleas make sure you have the needed artillery pieces. (both sides, although a new one is included)
The map is 'time sensitive', with respect to the October Crisis; the IRBM batteries will turn on and off for that time frame. SAM sites are accurately placed, and for the most part remain active for the full duration up to Modern/Post-Modern Times.
*Shameless Plug: several country & era-specific aircraft/aircraft skins are available in the CA SF2 downloads section*
For those wishing to use this terrain on the old OTC campaign -DON'T. It will not work. A new campaign is under construction.
As expected, there are several Easter Eggs -- you'll find them if you look hard enough. (Hint: one's in the Bahama's)
Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life courses, or be placed in their Real Life locations. Several cities and other physical features may also fall into that classification.
As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you read the document through after unzipping before installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading. Please also read the standard disclaimer, as it's been changed slightly.

"Waterworld" Terrain

"Waterworld" Terrain for SF2
Full-4 Merged (Reccomened) and/or SF2:V
Just a bit of silliness. I was asked to create a 'quick and dirty' mostly ocean terrain by Fubar512, so he could test some ship mods. This is it. Just a little something fun, and slightly different. Yes, there are Easter Eggs. In fact, the WHOLE map is an Easter Egg!
This terrain contains 2 land-airfields (one for each side) and 6 CV stations; 3 each for Blue and Red. I made use of the "Allowed Missions" statement, so you won't be seeing any CAS or Armed Recons (with no place to drive too...well, you get the idea). Plenty of shipping routes, however.
No tiles (excepting one special, and one for use with GH3) are included with this, but it uses the VietnamSEA tile set, as pointed to via the 'use this cat' statement in the terrain's main ini. If one wished to, you can easily just drop Stary's GH3 set, or any other Vietnam-named tiles directly into the terrain folder. Once the terrain has it's own internal tileset, you can use any cat pointer =EXCEPT= the IsrealME.cat.
The cities on the map have the minimal amounts of targets possible ... this is more for those liking to keep their feet wet. Also, you might just want to consider this terrain a "myth-mash" (see notes below). Bonus point awarded to ID the source of several of the place names.
As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended you read the document through after unzipping before installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading.
Happy Swimming!

Iran-Iraq Terrain

Iran-Iraq Terrain
- For SF2, Full-4 Merged (or any with access to the Desert cat) -
(Although Perfered Usage is as a Complete Stand-Alone Iran/Iraq War Mod)
This is a complete and total rebuild of the Iran/Iraq terrain from oh, so long ago. The entire map has been retiled, using Polak's Desert Storm set (also with some updates) with the addition of rivers, more farms, cities and an major expansion of the target areas. Simply put, those that have or seen the original probably won't recognize the place!!
Although designed with the 1980-88 War in mind, it can (with EXTENSIVE reworking) be made over for use for any time period, up to and including the Iraqi Invasion of Kuwait/Desert Shield (more in the "Notes" below). While many of the neighboring countries DO have (minimal) targets added, they are set as NEUTRAL, and have 0 value targets, as they are beyond the scope of the main focus of the map -- the Iran/Iraq War. However, the major airports ARE there, also NEUTRAL.
MANY new tiles have been added, updating of some originals (to make them fit and look better), and LOTS of custom TODs for buildings and trees and such. Including ALL new river AND road tiles for all 3 types of terrain (desert, farm, mountain), with all the transitions. While not perfect, given game/terrain engine limitations, these changes make the region look more like it should. Unfortunately, however, some rivers and other terrain features are NOT replicated due to the height field display of the terrain, making it virtually impossible to do so. This is especially true for regions in Iran that are heavily mountainous; or have some other "oddities" due to airfield flattening. Roads may also NOT follow their actual paths.
Other changes are to Runway 2 and Runway 3, that have been retextured to fully paved (no more FOD from dirt!!)
It is also reccomened you have the Pasko's Ground Objects, and Kesselbrut's Vehicles Pak, the GAZ trucks, etc; in short any and all add-on SAMs, AAA, vehicles, ships, and whatnot from any and all other terrain mods. HOWEVER -- make sure said add-on objects are CORRECT for the theatre and timeframe. (SA-2, SA-3 and SA-6 for the big Iraqi SAMs -btw, 2 & 6s are stock items) While NOT all are included, some are. Wherever possible, I've tried to stick with stock, historic items. Several new, "nation specific" items ARE included. Aircraft are NOT.
As to be expected, there are some Easter Eggs. Most are scattered around the map; some are actual historic World Heritage sites.
While this can be used in a SF2 series (any), it is reccomended that it be used in a Stand-Alone Mods Folder dedicated to the Iran/Iraq War only. As it uses desert tile/terrain naming conventions, it points to the Desert.cat. As all tiles and most terrain objects are either stock or included, it should work with any of the stock Cats, =EXCEPTING= SF2:I's IsrealME. Use of that cat is =NOT= reccomended.
It is highly reccomended that you READ this entire document through before installing this mod. If you don't, you're SURE to run into problems. And then, well, you know the drill. You get clowned on. Hard. As usual, the expansive "Notes and Other BS" section for clarifications, elaborations, explainations and general ramblings.
Happy Landings!

Iran/Iraq 2003+ Terrain for SF2
By Wrench
Iran-Iraq 2003+ Terrain
- For SF2, Full-4 Merged (Reccomended) -
This is a complete and total rebuild of the 1980s version of the Iran/Iraq terrain, into a slightly more modern version. IE: Post-0IF, and especially designed/rebuilt for the Operation Darius mod now circulating around. This is a completly seperate map, and will NOT conflict with the 1980s Iran-Iraq War map.
Basically, the sides have been switched; making Iran enemy and Iraq friendly (as it's most definatly post-OIF). The terrain has the Limited Nations statments set, modified movements ini, some minor retiling and additions to the _targets and _types inis. The terrain also has a 'fixed' StartDate= of 2003. The rest of the Gulf states have been reactivated as FRIENDLY, but the majority of cities in Kuwait, Bahrain, Quatar and Saudi Arabia are basically 'just there for show'. OTH, all the airfields are now active.
OTH, again, new planning maps were NOT generated -- so don't be alarmed when seeing the markers as Red in Iraq, and Blue in Iran. I just didn't want to redo them.
No GroundObjects are included with this terrain ... for Op Darius they are/will be a seperate download. They also should NOT conflict with amongst themselves, if/when installed to a 'general all-incusive' game install, as they've been adapted for use in all installs (ie: many are nation specific, and all have new correct userlists).
As always, detailed install instructions are included below.
Enjoy!

MidWest USA Terrain for SF2
By Wrench
MidWest USA Terrain for SF2
= For SF2, Any and All (Full-4 Merged Reccomended)
This map represents the Central section of the North American continent; from the Great Lakes in the east as far west/north as Regina SK, and as far south as Tulsa Oklahoma (destroyed/occupied) and pretty much all points in-between. The original base map, centered around Omaha, Nebraska, is/was the basis for FastCargo's "Super Secret Mod". This is a =highly= expanded version. Rivers include the Mississippi, Missouri, Platte, Assiniboine & Soruis, all the waterways and canals interconnecting the Great Lakes, and so forth. Lots to see and do here!!!
The map takes place in a "What If..." world of a partly Occupied America; something along the lines of "The Wingman" novels, the TV series 'Jericho', the movie "Red Dawn" (always a favorite!) and any number of Post-Apocalyptic scenarios. It will fit any timeframe from the mid-1950s through the Present Day (ie: my "Global Sedition vs the North American Alliance" kinda thing).
This map make use of the Limited Nations statement, as well as the Allowed Mission Type. This is due to there =not= being any shipping routes for the Blue side to attack; all those routes are within Blue territory, so only the Red side can use them. All others are active.
Geophysical Disclaimer: some rivers and other water features may not follow their Real Life courses, or be placed in their Real Life locations, or even exist as such. Several cities and other physical features may also fall into that classification (ie: mountains, hills, valleys, etc). Some cities may also NOT have all their proper Real Life industries, facilities and other building classifications, or be fully loaded with 'target objects'. Accuracy has been strived for in all cases, to reflect the Real World . As much as is possible with this Engine.
This map also makes use of the 'Expanded Borders' mod, wherein you make changes to the FlightEngine.ini. Instructions on making this adjustment are included (if you haven't already).
Several 'new' GroundObjects are included, some modified from others, some you may already have. All are SF2 compliant and may not be 'down convertable' for 1stGen usage. As I don't mod 1stGens anymore ... Many more GOs are required; you should have them already for other terrain mods. If not, its up to YOU to get them. All the usual suspects, of course (SAMs, vehicles, ships, AAA units, truck, tanks, dinosaurs, etc)
As expected, there are several Easter Eggs -- you'll find them if you look hard enough. As a matter of fact, the largest Easter Eggs =EVER= placed on ANY terrain in SF series history are on this map.
There are also several target items that will "turn on" after a set year; this being the year of construction or start-of-existence (for a certain shipping company, some buildings and bridges).
As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It's reccomended (ie: REQUIRED!!!) you read the document through after unzipping before installing. As always, the Notes and Other Nonesense section may make for entertaining reading. It's most important that the disclaimer be read, as there are a couple of 'permisison only' items used, that CANNOT be used elsewhere with their creator' approval.

Libya Map Tweeks, for 2011
By Wrench
Lybia Terrain - 2011 Updates
Found this while looking for something else!
Way back in March, 2011, when the New Libyan Revolution started, a couple of CombatAce members asked me to add a couple of new cities. In particular, those where the fighting was heaviest at the time - Bin Jawd and Ra's Lanuf.
This is the result -- just some very minor tweeks and retiling/retargeting to add these 2 places. No other major changes are in effect.
As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them!!
