ValAstur Posted January 5 Posted January 5 (edited) The german Luftwaffe was seeking a smaller alternative to the bigger and heavier Tornadoes and Phantoms, especially for CAS-Missions; but it also should have some A2A-Capabilities. The Alpha Jet was taken into consideration, but deemed not suitable for the task imposed. The Mirage F1 was also taken into consideration initially, but rapidly dropped because of the Luftwaffe's "Single-Engine-Doctrine" after the Starfighter-Desaster. In 1976, after having signed an accord between the british, the french and the german government, german pilots had the opportunity to evaluate the aircraft. Two airplanes, a single- and a double-seater, were especially commissioned at 17 Squadron, RAF Brüggen. The results were satisfying and the german government signed an order of 36 single- and 8 double-seater planes, taking the GR.1 as a base. First deliveries started in 1978, being the JBG31 the last one to get it's aircraft in 1979. ValAstur Posted January 12 Author Posted January 12 The aircraft in the first pics wears a Norm 83ish camouflage. That was, of course, after 1983. When delivered in 1978/79, it wore a Norm 76-styled camouflage: SEPECAT Jaguar SG, Jagdbombergeschwader 31 "Boelcke", 1979 4

Maybe he has had a problem when CA was redone? From what I noticed only those who were lurking and not using their accoutnt for more than just to download things. Some people who returned had to have their accounts redone so they could at least download two downloads per day due to being on the site for a long time. As far as I know (you'll have to ask Erik) no accounts were dramatically affected. It could simply be he decided to stick to his own site than come here again. I personally have had no commuinication in PM with Spinners, so if he decided to leave this site, then that was a decision he made on his own. 1
