Menrva Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I'm very glad to announce that DID is going to release a remaster of F-22 Air Dominance Fighter this February. This 1997 classic will soon be re-released with almost 100 QoL improvements and fixes, fully compatible with current systems. Yours truly has been an official tester of this new re-release. I witnessed first-hand the great amount of work that went into fixing and improving what used to be broken on modern systems. I recommend all flight sim aficionados to check it out! If this sells well, DID will be able to remaster other old flight sims such as EF2000 and F-22 Total Air War. DID is also working on a brand new military flight sim game, so make sure to also check their YouTube channel for teasers. Wishlist now: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3146140/F22_Air_Dominance_Fighter/ Here below the FAQ produced by DID and shared on various Discord servers: Quote Where is TAW/EF2000/TFX? We are testing waters with ADF. If our remaster is well-received, other classics may follow! You can help by wishlisting ADF or by leaving feedback after playing it. This looks nothing like the last video! Our modern sim is still in development. This new ADF release is a separate project for fans of the original DID sims. We heard you! A faithful 1997 experience, just smoother and more polished. Is this just the old game? No! It comes with countless fixes and improvements: Widescreen support, 6 DoF head tracking, 4k60 resolution, modding, and much more. It just works – no emulator to configure. And it’s a finished game – no early access perpetual development. 6
yakarov79 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I loved that game! And many other games from that era. BUt Longbow 2 and ADF were in my top at the time. 2

Modding here simply means that the original game files are unpacked (unlike the original 1997 game where they were packed in an inaccessible DAT archive) and folks can tweak some of them to an extent. What the community did with the fan made Total Air War 2.0 could now be done with the prequel ADF too. Limitations of the original game still remain, that means you cannot add any extra content (you cannot add new aircraft, terrains, weapons nor countries) aside from missions. Textures are limited to using the game's 256 color palettes and use the original 1997 unfriendly proprietary format, so texture mods are rather tricky to make. New 3d models are also impossible to make, no tools currently exist for that old proprietary format. That being said, yours truly has made mods for it already and some will be uploaded to Steam's Workshop when the time is due. 3
Stratos Posted February 5 Posted February 5 You caught me here, will give it a go! Looking forward to those mods! 1
Viggen Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Was only a kid when this and EF2000 came out so I'll give this a go! 1
Baltika Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Hi Menrva, Thanks for the heads up on this one, it had slipped under my radar! I loved the DID sims as a teenager, my first computer was a Windows ME box with a voodoo graphics card, and I loaded it up with all the classic Jane's sims. I still fire up Home Fries updates for EF2000 Reloaded and Total Air War 2.0 from time to time, so I will definitely be supporting this release. Here's hoping they get enough support to update more of the DID classics. Slainthe! 1
SD-6 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 I have hope for an update to this game for years (been playing flight sims since the early 80's. This is one of the best and I still play it now!!! Bring this on! I'd love to be added to the early tester group!!!
RandomSAAFfan Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Cant wait to play this game! i'm a bit curious of how much it will cost lol
Flanker562 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Probably nothing too hideous I hope. If they do EF2000 I'm getting that, the F-22 never interested me at all.
DoctorQuest Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I'm not a big Steam fan but I did wishlist it. If they release ANYTHING on GOG it will be an instant buy for me. These really are Good Old Games :). 1
DoctorQuest Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Purchased and running fine so far. It does look good all things considered. I really hope they do well here as there really has not been a good F-22 sim produced since the DID sims. I would say the same for EF2000. I was ok with the initial sale price of $19.99 US. I guess we'll see what the market will bear. 1
Fdino Posted February 19 Posted February 19 AWESOME!!!!!!!!!I loved this simulator so much. I can't wait to see how this remastered turns out. Congratulations to you all! I still have the CD here with me, along with other simulators like these that were released back then. Very wishes wingmans! 1

JSF, F-22 Raptor, F/A-18 Korea (Yes, I have this one to), F-15 Strike Eagle, Oddworld: Abbes Odyssey, Duke Nukem, how many I played... 1

These really are Good Old Games :). Congrats on the release! Bought it yesterday. The game is new me, so I haven't gotten far, yet. Yes I would also much prefer a GOG version. I have wrapped the Steam_Api.dll so it is practically a GOG version now, as it runs without the Steam Client. It runs in Windows XP 32-bit even. The Demo mode is neat. I noticed there are 4 Demo templates, but things play out a little different every time. Good to see it is still has all the original (low poly) assets, not some mixup with mods in a different style. 1
Lost33 Posted March 13 Posted March 13 OMG I was hooked on this game. I definitely recommend it guys!
Arrow Posted April 8 Posted April 8 (edited) Wow! Watching those youtubes really brought back memories and made me feel a bit emotional. This and TAW were the combat sims my oldest son cut his teeth on. My youngest was born the year F-22 ADF released and I remember cradling him a few times in my lap while I tried to fly - doh! I still remember the flight sim gear I had at the time; Saitek x56 stick, CH Pedals (cheaper ones without slides) and one of those cheesy CH Prod button rimmed,MFDs. And is it possible I played this with glide graphics on my Vodoo 3500 - I think so? Like others here I had EF2000 and TAW too, and oh yeah do I hope MicroPose remasters those. When my oldest went away to college, he took my copies of ADF and TAW. F-22 ADF was a simlite, but IMO it really captured the state of the art sophistication of the F-22. Like the whole box gave you the impression you were about to fly something bleeding-edge, so the lite-ness of it didn't feel out of place. I remember it having this sort of ringed funnel visual you could enable for landing training. That got my son accomplished with landings in no time at all. I love that they added TrackIR support for it, which IIRC wasn't even available back then. Someone has now made the TAW textures available for it in the Steam Workshop - an improvement IMO. UKSF_SRR_ANON Posted April 11 Posted April 11 An impressive game with a 90s flight simulation style. Not bad.
Peko Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Eu adorava esse jogo! Eu lembro que joguei muito com o meu irmão e com o meu pai, revesando porque só tínhamos um PC. Bons tempos
