Wilches Posted Tuesday at 04:44 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:44 PM I asked my AI what it could do in SFP2, and this was the answer... strike_fighters_2_optimization_guide.pdf 1 1
Wrench Posted Tuesday at 05:40 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:40 PM Interesting! I mean, not much we didn't already know, but interesting that AI could pick those things up! Section 2 had some notes that even I didn't know!!
Wilches Posted Tuesday at 05:57 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 05:57 PM I give an example what AI did to me. I drop a SquadronList.lst on it and asked to add all the squadrons that operated in my scenario and erase those who not and... in some seconds everything is done! In a correct numerical sequence! It saves me some precious time, not only by writing but in researching as well. 6
snowburn Posted Tuesday at 06:14 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:14 PM What a coincidence! A few days ago, I was wondering about the steps involved in creating a reimplementation of the SF2 flight model. One of those steps would be making an .ini validator, something like: Quote Aircraft Validator ──────────────────────────── [OK] Model [OK] Engine [OK] Flight model [WARNING] WeaponStation003 references nonexistent weapon AIM-9X [WARNING] LandingGear001 has no animation node [ERROR] Engine position references missing node "EngineLeft" A few years ago, I also made a C# Aircraft_Data inspector. Maybe I can dig up my old code and try to fix its bugs. 4

madvad Posted Tuesday at 11:39 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:39 PM "Memory Expansion Scripting (Batch/PowerShell): Programming automated command-line scripts to safely apply the Large Address Aware (LAA / 4GB Patch) flag to the game executables. This modifies the binary header, allowing the application to access up to 4GB of system RAM instead of the default 2GB limit, resolving the vast majority of memory-related crashes." I tried something related to this sometime ago, but unsucessfully. Someone have a tip or tutorial for that?
Wilches Posted Tuesday at 11:52 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 11:52 PM Well, I suspect that you only have to ask for it on GoogleAI. "He" knows EVERYTHING about the game. Believe me. It makes me chilling...

Gene_Wolfpack Posted Wednesday at 02:20 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:20 AM - For me, the AIs I rate highest are Grok and Claude. Both are great for coding and IT programming, but Claude is a bit more specialized and requires a higher-than-average understanding of IT to use effectively. - That's why Grok is basically a simpler yet equally effective version of Claude. It can write code and handle just about anything, including fixing errors in INI files with high precision without giving you extra fluff. That includes step-by-step guides for any task or software. Grok itself has taught me a ton and helped me fix so many issues with mods. I have two gorgeous B-1s in my hangar. They're perfect, except the afterburner effect doesn't show up when engaging the afterburner. So I decided to swap in the afterburner emitter effect from the F-15. But as you know, the huge difference in engine scale makes things tricky for someone who isn't a modder like me. It wasn't just a matter of editing a few lines in the INI file to swap them out. I also had to scale up the emitter size to fit the B-1's engine nozzles, adjust the flame length, tweak the animation effects, adjust the speed of the afterburner flame motion, etc. Grok helped me sort all of that out perfectly. I highly recommend using Grok, it's fantastic even on the free version. After Grok and Claude, I'd rank OpenAI/GPT. It has helped me quite a bit as well, though its answers tend to be rambling, verbose, and sometimes miss the point. - Gemini, on the other hand, is mostly terrible. It messes everything up. For issues where Grok can help me fix everything in just a few prompts, Gemini makes a total mess and gets worse the more you try to tweak it. What's worse is that Gemini is notorious for hallucinating answers just to give you something to read, and it only admits it if you call it out. So I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The best thing about Gemini, in my opinion, is using it for quick information and research. Since it's owned by Google, it taps into Google's massive database, making it great for looking things up. - I know I rambled on a bit, but I hope leaving this here helps other casual players who might not have heavy IT skills but just want to enjoy the game find a solid AI tool to help troubleshoot modding issues. And please excuse my English if there are any mistakes, as it's not my native language. 1
Torc Posted Wednesday at 02:31 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:31 AM I'm still on the road to getting it working fully, but I have set up a local copy of the 26B parameter version of Gemma4 and am looking to expand that with a couple of other models to assist with the (very very moderate) coding and scripting tasks I occasionally have to do This is another use-case to add to the list, though since I'll be running separate "coding" and "general knowledge" agents I wonder how it will handle the look-up-the-history part of the task? I suppose this is the "agentic" AI I have been hearing about?

This is pointless because SF2's exes are already Large Address Aware, they don't need any changes in this regard.

I suppose this is the "agentic" AI I have been hearing about? good luck. it will run with a mix of 1. whats available online, and 2. what common other "successful" searches have rendered. it wont include any text that was never scanned somehow into the internets. it will judge what thousands to millions of others thought was a good answer as part of what it feeds back. look at the knowledge, genuine curiousity, and willingness to accept what the AI overlord tells them in a search of the average person. now realize that will skew the results that you get no matter how specific you are inputting what you want i gave it a go this summer hunting down A-37B airframes. i believe that it produced 4 (out of 577) results that i may not have firmly placed. meanwhile i still have about 20 that i have no clue on, and 50 that i only have one service location for in a 20 year career. so 503 vs 4 on where they were from 1972-1992. did it speed up my search? not this time, but i was trying something new and the slow down that comes with learning and adapting. i only say i would have ran faster without because i have years practice hunting without AI 1 1

First IT gives you information - very much filtered. Second, it kills the spirit of gaining knowledge, exploration, and widening horizons. It was enough for me. I rather do it on my own, even if it takes years. I gave some instructions to find some specific info about RC-130. Do not remember the details now. IT poped with some freaky info supporting with some serial numbers - airframes that never even parked near RC-130. I ended up stupidly trying to correct IT...who am I to correct AI. And on a personal note...For me, all of this is still not AI. It is sophisticated programming that received tons of information in a short time. And now it is stumbling between the meaning of life of an electric winch and a toaster. As long as there is no process of learning itself to be like a toddler-to-adult way ...we are not going to get it right. But it is just my opinion. 5

Dammit, I want my subscription to look like this!!!!!!! 1 1 2

Nightshade/PR Posted Thursday at 04:50 PM Posted Thursday at 04:50 PM We need a bigger Final Net budget for that. 1
Wrench Posted Thursday at 06:06 PM Posted Thursday at 06:06 PM Well, she wasn't bad looking for the timeframe. And we're showing our age if we know what FInal Net is!!! But, having a Six of my own ... hmmmmmmmmm 1
Wilches Posted 19 hours ago Author Posted 19 hours ago This´s new to me. If it works, will be a milestone! Not tested. Tutorial_Bases_Strike_Fighters_2_EN.pdf 2
Wilches Posted 18 hours ago Author Posted 18 hours ago If I understood correctly, we can assign any aircraft to a specific base. Even in Single Missions! That’s huge! 2
Wilches Posted 16 hours ago Author Posted 16 hours ago EUREKA!!!! It works!! Now things are really heating up! We can choose the historically accurate base for each aircraft or unit. No more waiting for the game engine to pick the right base or wasting ages in the Mission Generator! Now, for example, we can use RAF squadrons based in the UK on the Cold War map, or Danish squadrons based in Denmark. Friends, for me, this is revolutionary! I’m a fan and enthusiast of historical missions—or at least ones that are close to reality. Now I’m going to update my installations (77 in total). I’ve got months of work ahead of me. I hope this proves as useful to you as it is to me. Thanks! 1 1
allenjb42 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago 77 Installations? And I thought I was crazy with 26! Seriously, great work though. 2

I think I might be doing something wrong on VietnamSEA example BaseName= - I want Marines VMAs in Chu Lai (Chu Lai Air Base), so I should have this base somewhere added in Movement.ini....Or I am dumb.
