The F-35 has a HMD (helmet mounted display), instead of a HUD. That's were the green lights are coming from.

It's much lighter than it looks. I've worn the prototype and it didn't feel awkward or uncomfortable at all. I expected it to feel top heavy, but it did not.

 

It's the only helmet I've worn, so I can't compare it to anything current.

Nah... just thought of an action movie with green-eyed good guys, red-eyed bad guys and some Han-Solo-type yellow-eyed guy who switches to green in the last minute.

I have been looking at this picture for days now, trying to get accustomed to it, but I can't. I am freaked out by it. Eyes are the windows into the soul for me, and to see eyes like that kinda gives me the heby jebies. My wife once got these dark green contact lenses, I couldn't look at her. That just freaked me out too much. So add this helmet to my list of fears, right below the easter bunny and just above clowns. Freaky.
