MOD REQUEST: New MiG-17 and 19 cockpits.

Hi all,

 

I have been flying the Red Alert campaign in North Vietnam in the MiG-17 and 19, and love those two planes! I was wondering if it would be possible to create new custom cockpits for them using parts and textures from the MiG-17 cockpits that are in IL-2 1946. Obviously, you would have to get permission from the IL-2 modders responsible for their cockpits. I have some screen shots of the cockpits in question:

I'm not a modder, and don't know if IL-2 material can be converted to be used in SF2, but just wanted to suggest it!

Im not that much of a modder but I do love IL-2, how did you get the Mig for it? I have been looking for a good site with IL-2 planes that are complete (with accurate cockpits) but I have not found a good source.

That's a MiG-15 cockpit, BTW, not a MiG-17's. Also, the MiG-19 is a twin-engined aircraft.

They are not stock items. They are available in the modded version of IL-2.

And because the formats are completly different, they'd have to be rebuilt, re-exported, re-skinned and all the ini work re-created.

 

Personally, I'd LOVE to have them, it's a BEAUTIFUL pit ... they'd be great for KAW, and any other Fagots we have lying around. I just don't think it's very likely to ever happen; given all the work involved. But, who knows?

 

Maybe we should "pool some resources", as they say at the local Legitimate Businessman's Social Club, and bribe them!! :lol: I"ll kick in 20 bucks!!

If someone contacts Treasury, and ask for ink paper

and plates we'll print those ourselves..... no matter

Hello everybody!

Stary's cockpit for the MiG-17 is awesome! I think that for the MiG-19 it would be nice the same cockpit but with a different detail.

As mentioned before on this thread, the MiG-19 is a twin-engined aircraft.  If you're going  to ask someone to simply remove a frame (which means that he probably has to create a new node for the canopy glass as well), you may as well ask them to go all the way and create a new cockpit, while they're at it.

Though the MiG-19's 'pit looks quite similar  to the MiG-15/17 cockpit, the instrument and switch panel layout is somewhat different, as are the positions of the annunciators (warning lights).

For the MiG-17 I used Stary´s FANTASTIC MiG-17PF cockpit without the radar screen. To be honest, it´s amazingly good. Copy the lines below to the MiG-17PF_COCKPIT.INI, wich features a new POV:

Personally I think we have the MiG-17s well covered by Starys awesome pits. As for awesome MiG-15pits didnt Crizis have something in the works right here at combatace?

sadly Krizis is gone from here as far as I know...

 

side note remarkably similar to his Mig-15 WIP renders cockpit is in War Thunder...

 

man I really wish I had time to make -19 series, but I'm off from modding at the moment :sad:

Otherwise... in my opinion, it would be fantastic if the windscreen (external model) of the TK MiG-17 could be replaced with a new one more accurate!

 

I'm not an expert but using the "fake pilot" method do you think it is possible to replace this old SFP1 age windscreen?

better would be complete remodelling of my -15/17 ones; BUT I'm in a cast with broken arm at the moment so doing any serious 3D work (or any modding to be fair) is out of the question for a while longer I'm afraid

I agree that both the MiG-17 and MiG-19 could use a lot more polys. For someone with access to the source files it would be relatively straightforward (read: TK) but with Cocas Lim-6 around the corner who knows? I've always had a weak spot for the MiG-19 so you never know  :biggrin:
