  1. Really? From the news you'd think it was all ice cream and laughter over there. Always good to be home.
  2. The new Enterprise was never the series' weakness. Although I was disappointed it was basically just an inverted retro Akira (with nacelles high instead of low), it still has great lines.
  3. I like ones with great music, too. Amok Time and Doomsday Machine are great in that regard. I also love the "voted #1" episode City on the Edge of Forever, as well as Balance of Terror. Let's not forget the classic Space Seed!
  4. Oh, done that one in Red Orchestra and OFP/ArmA many times!
  5. Not as far as I know. All have SF. The Achilles heel of FC. Not to say there aren't cracked versions floating about the net, but I've not seen them.
  6. There are massive mountains on the eastern shore of the Black Sea--the Caucasus. By default a lot happens in the Crimean Peninsula or across the straits to the east, but that is flat. Look at the "detailed" terrain on the map (where it's not just flat green) and you'll see it on the lower right of the map.
  7. Well, that IS the most important thing, right?
  8. To be honest, I haven't visited Frugal's since I got my Cougar, and then I was only looking at that part of the site, some 18+ months ago. Before that, I last visited looking at some F4 SP4 stuff at its release. Just never felt "at home" there, although I don't think I ever posted.
  9. That would be the loading screen from LOMAC when flying the F-15, although I don't recall the crew chief being female... Of course, that's an F-15C not a 15E like most sims have done.
  10. It's been awhile since I did it, but I don't recall anything in particular unusual about the install. Sometimes there's more than just the aircraft, though. Check the readme carefully. There may be weapons, pylons, etc that need to be placed in other folders other than the aircraft folders.
  11. Well, those are the ugly successful planes. There were plenty of ugly unsuccessful ones!
  12. Nothing more satisfying than watching a turret fly off.
  13. All of it is in the game, but not all of it is straight forward to use or access. Designators, for example, are carried by ground troops to lase the target for the fighters to fly by and drop the bomb onto. The A-10 actually doesn't have a designator, although that's for LGBs only. Mavericks self-designate of course. There are many missions where you get attacked by mortars or artillery, and a few where you get to use them yourself. Some of these things are better illustrated in 3rd party missions you can DL around the net than in the stock ones with the game.
  14. I think the main problem was when DS9 first aired the character development took too long. You didn't know the characters well enough. Now already knowing the characters, going back and watching S1 it just seems a lot better. I'd say that while the last half of TNG's run was probably the best top quality eps, DS9 overall was the best series because it had fewer weak episodes than even TOS. Maybe I'd rank TNG S5-S7 on top with TOS S1 and S2, then DS9 S1-7 and Enterprise S4, then TOS S3, TNG S1-S4 and Voyager S1-7 mixed in with Enterprise S1-3.
  15. I'm playing ArmA regularly and it's still getting better with patches and stuff. JO's problem is it's dead as far as NL is concerned. I really don't know WHAT happened there. They released that expansion less than 4 months after the original game...then NOTHING.
  16. AFAIK, there is no way. I've never seen this in the almost 6 years I've been flying coop Il-2.
  17. I'd try reinstalling your video drivers.
  18. I hadn't noticed that, but to be honest I don't think I've played a campaign since 1.10! Been TE flying only.
  19. IIRC, it's 6.7lbs/gallon for jet fuel.
  20. Bears would regularly fly unrefueled from somewhere around Murmansk, down Scandinavia, past the UK, across the Atlantic, down the eastern seaboard and land in Cuba.
  21. Oh yeah, I forgot about the 2 Ice Age films! I liked #1 more than #2, though.
  22. Pretty much all those older engines smoked at some point. The problem with many planes is they could be retrofitted with kits to make them smoke less at a later date. The F-4E for example was very smoky when it entered service but far less so by retirement in the USAF. The MiG-29A was notorious for being almost as smoky as the F-4E. It's the hallmark of a turbojet, as well, and the introduction of turbofans reduced smoke to a trickle if at all, although that's not 100%. However, pretty much every engine used before 1970 was a turbojet and they all smoked. Most planes introduced since 1970 use turbofans and smoke little.
  23. I own Transformers and all the Pixar films on DVD. I also own the 2 Shrek films and will get 3 when it comes out for Xmas I'm guessing. I'll be seeing the next Pixar film, Ratatouille, when it comes out this summer.
