  1. Yes, an interesting read. But, IMO, its an outdated theory. The A-10 is great at CAS because it can carry an impressive weapons load and can loiter for longer durations than an F-16 with a smaller load. But converting to a drone would take away it's one trump card. The gun. CAS is more than dropping JDAMs and LGBs. If you rewrite the mission to only include that weapon employment plan, you might as well save the money and stick with the current Predator and Reaper since they are already doing that very thing. Saturate the air with those and you don't need a $30Mil QA-10 that, oh by the way, still needs a tanker and other expensive support. I just dont think our remote piloting programs are up to the challenge of engaging ground targets with all of what the A-10 brings to the fight. -S
  2. Enemy list? They stole from me. Well, I sent off another email to several people within ED. If I don't hear back, I'm going public on every forum board I know of and will spread the word. In today's anti-piracy world, I hope I'll get the backing from the masses. Whats sucks is that I was going to buy the DCS:A-10 sim.
  3. You know, if I was stealing from them, I'd be strung up and sued. These guys basically steal from me and drag their feet. Tick, tock... my patience is running out
  4. The F-15C/Ds they recieved were new built jets. From more than one source, the last 5 F-15Ds were actually E-model airframes, configured to D-model specs. So they are structurally stronger. And they do use the D-models as bomb trucks. The F-15 always had an A-to-G mode, but the software was deactivated. A couple of years ago, there was talk about reactivating it on the "Golden Eagles" and certifying them for JDAM drops since the airframe is already cleard for the Mk.80 series of bombs. Obviously the IDF has done so with theirs. -S
  5. Stupid people fly Boeing products too. Trust me, I fly with them several times a week.
  6. Here we are nearly a month after Matt/ED and I came to an agreement and I've received nothing from them. After a quick note inquiring as to the status, I've received no reply from their UK office who was supposed to be handling it. If the 26th comes and goes, I will then move to plan B and it won't be as nice.
  7. Brilliant Stary. Such a huge level of immersion. Thanks! Jeff
  8. We pass the trash, every day. The new, nicer military seems to cast a blind eye to certain officer's and their history. Shameful!
  9. Why not. Isn't that why we've got forum boards? To discuss things? Maybe you are right. Let's delete this whole thread.
  10. That picture, based on the lack of the white stabs and flaps, is around 1980-81. VF-84 received Block 95 jets already with the nose cone pitot tube in 1977. So TK's early screenshots without the probe, are incorrect for VF-84. -S
  11. The paint jobs aren't time specific based on the screenies. I've noticed a difference in F-14A models in the various screenshots. Some early F-14As without the nose pitot and later shots with it. The screenshot angles dont allow me to view the gun vents to match the timelimes either. Overall, this will affect paint jobs and the slight variances. (ie, with/without white tails, flaps, etc...) Yep, I can rivet count too. -S
  12. I'm building that -204 Centennial Hornet in 1/72. I would have loved to get pics of it on my own, but it never went where I could get to it. Great vid and pics. -S
  13. Awesome 81st skin. A couple of critiques. Prior to 2008, with the Panther head, black fin caps with yellow lightning bolts were the norm. White bolts even earlier. And the caps covered the inside and outside, and were not on the rudders. 14. Another awesome addition to the Herk fleet. Thanks Dels! -Jeff
  15. Here is a closer photo of it. Credit to the same photographer as above
  16. Excellent bit of photog work. The angles you've captured are very complimentary, as is the museum lighting. Looks like you had the run of the place. No random heads in any of the photos. Thanks for sharing. Jeff

    Autumn trip

Beautiful country! The spa photos were really cool. The style of the building would fit into the retro look that is making it's way back into fashion. I hope that some investor comes along and returns it to it's former glory. Thanks for sharing. Jeff
  22. Del's awesome KC-130J Harvest Hawk in action:
  23. It doesn't. That's the point. The requirements had to be adjusted as the aircraft progressed (or not). Now it's overdue and over budget. The B-model isn't needed and doesn't do what it should. So it may get cut reducing the numbers and driving the cost per aircraft up.
  24. Thanks Dels. A proper Harvest Hawk! You rock! -Jeff
