  1. These little details on the ground objects are great! A coffee dispenser, who'd have thought?! I'm sure the platoon sergeants will be huddled around it. Plus it's cool to hear the insight and suggestions from daddyairplanes and EricJ. I was in the Army as well, but Aviation doesn't have any of these vehicles. And our field exercises were normally spent relaxing in a GP Medium eating whatever we brought along
  2. Now that raises another question, would the Thunderstick mods provide the Thud in SF2 any meaningful or noticeable change in capabilities over the stock aircraft or would it just be a visual change? I'm aware it'd require a new 3D model or fake pilot trickery to be accurate.
  3. I never really thought about the fact that the 105s would have been so worn out, and I was a maintainer ffs lol. It makes sense though. Well, even just doing strike or SEAD, whichever 105 I choose, will still be a challenge. Thanks.
  4. Oh yeah fully prepared to do a SEAD campaign. Follow up question, would the surviving single seaters have been used solely as strike aircraft or would they have have carried out other air to ground missions too?
  5. I'm thinking about adding the F-105 (D, F, or G) to the 1979 SF2E campaign since that'd make for a fun challenge. But I can't find any information on what the loadouts would have been during its time with the Guard/Reserves. Anyone here have any good information on that?
  6. I can hear my first sergeant yelling from here! It's a good thing there's no map with Ft. Riley on it!
  7. It looks like some had an M60 mounted on top during Vietnam, but there's less pictures of them armed in any following conflicts. Like EricJ said, they're not really a front line vehicle.
  8. The carrier groups with their escorts and support vessels and the extra aircraft flying around the map on naval search and early warning missions are what I'd like. Menrva's post sums up the issues pretty well. I forgot that naval campaign disables night missions. Rather irritating, really. Who doesn't want to hunt Backfires at night over the icy North Atlantic? Does make sense that it's a balancing act. So zero intelligence would effect the enemy's ground campaign as well? That's unfortunate. The enemy aircraft only being assigned air to air missions in a naval campaign might work for a border skirmish campaign. I could give that a try since it will still give me some of the results I'm looking for.
  9. Sorry if this has been asked before, but is it possible to have the eye candy of NavalCampaign=True without the enemy sending constant wave after wave of aircraft after the carrier group? Basically I want all the extras that come along with a naval campaign, without the actual naval campaign. Again, sorry if it's been asked before or if the answer to this is incredibly obvious. It's been a long time since I've looked at campaign files.

    NASCAR

I'm a sportscar racing fan (IMSA, WEC, GT World Challenge, etc) but I'll always put on NASCAR when they go to a road course. Great chance for some IMSA drivers like Andy Lally to do well.
  11. @GKABS dude you're an absolute beast knocking out all these new ground objects! Keep up the great work! I split every pair of A2CUs I had climbing up and down the aircraft.
  12. Well that went smoothly. Drove up, signed my name, got stabbed, waited a few minutes and was free to go. My company has a pretty slick plan for the people who get the vaccine, so it’s looking like I’ll have a nice three day weekend.
  13. Getting stabbed with the pfizer vaccine on Thursday morning.
  14. What a pleasant surprise! Thank you so much! Can't wait to explore this terrain
  15. A much needed aircraft for the early NATO Fighters campaigns! Great job!
  16. Florida. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/39863/high-performance-target-drone-washes-up-on-florida-beach
  17. Gotta be the Hun. Always felt slow and lumbering and you better hope you can bring those guns on target because AIM-9Bs suck. Redemption came towards the end of a CAS mission in NATO Fighters in WOE. Shooting down a MiG-19 in a turning fight in a clean F-100 felt great. I'll do ground attack in the F-100 all day but for the love of god keep me away from fighter sweep and intercepts. Also not so much of an aircraft's redemption story, but when I finally learned how to evade SA-2s and SA-6s without ECM or chaff. Sadly I still haven't figured out how to evade SA-8s. Apparently diving for the deck, dumping 20 chaff, ECM on, and a HARM headed for the launcher isn't enough to evade. Haven't survived a single Desert Storm campaign yet...
  18. I think I've experienced it on landing. That or I still suck at landing after 15 years with this game.
  19. "Look the squadron leader might be upset we leveled half the town doing it, but the damnevilcommbuilding is no more!" "You unload it!" "No, you unload it!" "Wait...this isn't my gate. This isn't even the right airport!"
  20. Completely normal. Either try to skip them or just take the L.
  21. Almost annoyingly, typing it that way instead of "EA-6B 161880" was giving me new results. Thanks to one page I was able to find the delivery date, 9/23/84. I haven't been able to find anything about its first ten years of service or if it was a Gulf War vet (I suppose I could check in the ODS Mod's Prowler for that!). Seems like it flew in the various VMAQs in the mid 1990s through mid 2000s. When I was it in 2006, it was assigned to VMAQ-4. Most pictures of it are from when it was the CAG for VAQ-129. @Wrench I've never used that website before, but it looks like a great source. Thanks!
  22. I've spent a few hours today trying to find the career for a specific EA-6B Prowler, BuNo 161880. Why this aircraft? Well, the Prowler's always been one of my favorite aircraft and this was the only one I ever saw, at an airshow in 2006 where a young me might have tried to rotate the ram air turbine on an ALQ-99. Anyway, I was wondering if someone might have better luck finding a squadron by squadron history and ultimate disposition of this aircraft? The Prowler's airframe by airframe history seems much less well documented than say, an F-4 or F-14's. Thanks! EDIT: Finding the histories of specific aircraft I've seen on display at airshows or museums is something I've been doing to help pass the time while covid's being going on.
  23. 20 February, 1991 Lockheed S-3B Viking BuNo 159765 from VS-32 aboard USS America becomes the first Hoover to engage and destroy an enemy vessel. The Viking was vectored by a cruiser to sink an Iraqi patrol boat.
