That would have been "Moscow on the Hudson".

I've held back from replying to this post, as I somehow found myself at a loss for words. In my time, I've personally known several people who have taken their own lives, and, for what? It's hard to imagine someone who brought so much joy to people's lives, being so depressed that they can only see one way out. So, I'll keep it simple: RIP Robin.

A final callout to Krizis. Please PM me, it's been almost five years that we have been working on this model, and three years since I've last heard from you. It is time to finish and release it so others can enjoy it!

A recent assignment that I had involved upgrading workstations from Win XP & Windows 7 to Win 8.1-64. After spending three months on the project, I can vouch for the fact that Windows 8/8.1 can be made to run every bit as smooth on a desktop or a laptop as Windows 7, and it has the advantage of a slightly faster OS loading time. Its main disadvantage is that it does (in typical MS fashion) have some application incompatibilities that weren't present in its predecessor. Also, some devices that were supported under Windows 7 are either no longer supported at all, or not fully supported under Windows 8. A prime example of the latter would be print drivers that suddenly lack features that had hereto been available on a Windows 7 install.

It's probably a shot in the dark, but it will make me feel a lot better if I release it with his approval. It has one texture, and it is among the very best that I've ever encountered in this series.

The ground tiles appear to be either Stary's or Brain32s, but the O-1 model isn't stock. Did Diego's model have bump-mapping?

I still have the original, the "Su-16", on one of my backup drives.

Here's something that you should all find useful. It works on Windows 7, and Possibly Windows 8/8.1 as well. Create a new folder anywhere on your Windows 7 desktop. Once you do, open it up just to prove to yourselves that its empty. Now, back out of it, and then rename the folder Utilities, Tools, Godmode (etc.), whatever your heart desires. But....you must add a period (dot) after the name, and attach the following string (brackets and all), directly after the name: {ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} If, for example, you choose to name it "Tools", the folder name should appear like so: Tools.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} Once you've renamed the folder, open it up....and prepare to be amazed. I trust that you will find what's now contained within that folder to be quite convenient on a day-to-day basis

Outstanding!

Thanks Snailman. This model deserves to be released so everyone can enjoy it.

And another callout to Krizis. I've even tried PM'ing Lindr, in the hopes that he can contact him. I have had this model going on 5-6 years now, and would like to release it.

AFAIK, bump maps must be added as a material texture during the model creation process.

The east-coast schedule has this at 9:00 PM tonight, with an encore presentation at 11 PM. Thanks, Kevin.

SF2: NA - USN Carriers with deck lights - how difficult ?
Fubar512 replied to Boresight's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
I do believe that you're right. And the bright flashing green light off and above the starboard quarter of the carrier in the second video is an anti-collision light on the "angel", an MH-60 helo. -
SF2: NA - USN Carriers with deck lights - how difficult ?
Fubar512 replied to Boresight's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
Boresight, My colleagues and I reviewed real life imagery from night traps, and one of the team served on a carrier. We were all quite satisfied that the level of illumination was correct. Now, this really may not mean much in the tunnel-visioned, faux dark world of a computer flight simulation (as I'm sure that our real-life aviators would agree), but watch these two videos and judge for yourself : Due to the method with which we added the deck illumination, increasing its intensity may result in undesirable visual anomalies, and cause the deck illumination to be unnaturally bright during the day (it cannot be switched on or off). -

There's a package in the SF2 downloads section that addresses this: http://combatace.com/files/file/14598-carrier-deck-illumination/ -
Take care of yourself first, everything else is secondary, and can wait.

Do Saitek flight instruments work with Strike Fighter?
Fubar512 replied to Akmatov's topic in General Discussion
I've just finished texting Dave, and he recommends these: http://www.thrustmaster.com/en_US/products/mfd-cougar-pack -
Is SF2 now primarily a mod community project?
Fubar512 replied to Akmatov's topic in General Discussion
Is fuel being delivered? Otherwise, it's a pointless exercise. -

Fubar512 replied to Akmatov's topic in General Discussion
I believe that Dave, and possibly Streakeagle as well, were experimenting with the Thrustmaster panels in SF. If either replies that they worked for them, chances are that the Saitek panels will be compatible, as well. Just make sure that the return policy of your vendor-of-choice isn't too draconian. -
Does it have a gaming mode? Some AV suites do. I can verify that the latest release of ESET NOD32 does, though it is manual. UPDATE: Bitdefender does have an auto game mode: http://www.bitdefender.com/support/what-to-do-when-autopilot-autoscan-auto-update-are-randomly-disabled-1088.html

I've always been of the opinion that Arthur Kennedy sounded very much like George Kennedy, ("Bob" in this video), though there's no relation between the two.
