  1. Fuel is drained from the drop tanks first. Your fuel level is going to read the same until you drain the drops...there's no way to read fuel from drop tanks in this series, outside of the debug screen.
  2. And, of course (typically for Hollywood) they forgot another little detail, and that's the fact that each Trident D5 missile carries at least 4 (and is capable of lofting up to 12) MIRVs. The current loadout is 4 MIRVs each equipped with the 475 kt W88 warhead.
  3. Taken from my cellphone cam. This is a Peregrine Falcon that missed me by less than five feet (just over a meter). I startled her while on my morning walk, and she took flight, and I must have been in her way. Her eyes were freaking glassy and huge...lol
  4. We have deer, foxes, turkeys, coyotes, foxes, eagles, hawks, falcons...hell, we have a freaking menagerie in my neck o' the woods!
  5. Entire generations of CA members have been born since the last time I attended a Concert.... Hint: Ozzie was still with Black Sabbath.
  6. Check your controller settings. There's practically zero roll momentum in my case, flying under hard flight model settings. Also, the FM for the TW F-15 is unrealistic as hell. It super-cruises, it doesn't bleed energy the way it should, and its roll rate is probably too fast. I've lost touch with our resident F-15 driver, who would be more qualified to comment on this.
  7. The trim tabs on the P-51D's elevators can also be animated: [ElevatorTrimTab_L] SystemType=HIGHLIFT_DEVICE CDdc=0.0002 Cmdc=-0.020 DeploymentMethod=AUTOMATIC_MACH SmoothDeployment=TRUE Setting[1].Angle=5.0 Setting[1].DeployValue=0.50 Setting[1].RetractValue=0.45 Setting[2].Angle=10.0 Setting[2].DeployValue=0.55 Setting[2].RetractValue=0.51 MaxDeflection=15.0 MinDeflection=-15.0 AnimationTime=1.5 ModelNodeName=ElevTrimTab_L ReverseModelOrientation=TRUE [ElevatorTrimTab_R] SystemType=HIGHLIFT_DEVICE CDdc=0.0002 Cmdc=-0.020 DeploymentMethod=AUTOMATIC_MACH SmoothDeployment=TRUE Setting[1].Angle=5.0 Setting[1].DeployValue=0.50 Setting[1].RetractValue=0.45 Setting[2].Angle=10.0 Setting[2].DeployValue=0.55 Setting[2].RetractValue=0.51 MaxDeflection=15.0 MinDeflection=-15.0 AnimationTime=1.5 ModelNodeName=ElevTrimTab_R ReverseModelOrientation=TRUE

  9. The above is all the evidence that Martian authorities need to cite the operator of Curiousity for driving under the influence...
  10. Radar and ECM values are way overmodeled in this series, and that goes especially so with 3rd party models. With the default planeset and groundobjects, it's mostly done for missile tracking purposes. Also, define "lock". Are the targets breaking track after you acquire missile lock inside of visual range, or at BVR distances?
  11. Stealth ingame works as a fraction of the aircraft's "gross" RCS (as FastCargo explained), but it also depends on the "MaxVisibleDistance" parameter. For example, if you set a given model's "RCSmodifier" value to 0.0001 meters squared, that model will not be detectable on in game radar displays until it is practically on top of you. But the game engine still allows one to visually acquire the model out to its set max visible distance value, even at night. So, I set that value to 1500 meters, or less, on low observables.
  12. Shhhhhh...there maybe Third Wire Spies lurking nearby.....
  13. Then, you'll appreciate the new package that I'm working on....I call it "Strike Fighters 2: The Great Migration to DCS"
  14. And, all the above titles will feature only aircraft from Lockheed .. but static models only. Because they're all locked ...
  15. Don't you people know? That's part of their new marketing plan. According to Crusader, we'll soon see some new expansion packs... Strike Fighters 2: Locked, Strike Fighters 2: Locked Again, followed by Strike Fighters 2: Locked Beyond all reason, and then the final release in the series, Strike Fighters 2: Locked Solid
  16. OMG! I was just thinking about all the history I've lived through, started reflecting on the hight points (of which the Apollo 11 was one of), and then I heard of his passing.
  17. Art imitates life..... First, the real thing: And then, Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=7Rcsz7I8bnM&list=UU2GT0MfAjpllTxR8fH-MMUw
  18. Thud over (AD and Gepard's) Korat RTAFB, circa 1966...
  19. That processor isn't considered a high-end CPU, and IL-2 is certainly not optimized for multi-core processors (despite claims to the contrary). IL-2 responds best to brute processing power, anything over 3.0 gHz would be ideal, and more is better. Your sound issue may be best addressed by adding a discrete audio card.
  20. You mean the cockpit and avionics.ini files for Razbam's 'pits?
  21. What textures change, streak? Do you have a hot pink skin texture that you use on your A-6's that you're not telling us about? I've yet to encounter an A-6 that isn't either white, haze grey, or some combination of the two.
  22. Low speed pitch up on swept wing aircraft is caused by the boundary layer spilling outwards towards the wingtips. This was particularly bad on the F-100 and the MiG-19 (and both had boundary layer fences). The slatted F-86E was superior in this respect to the hard wings, and at low combat speeds (below 300 knots), was actually more maneuverable. If I'm not mistaken, the flight manual stresses keeping the flaps down on all F-86 varients below 180 MPH (155 knots), but retracting them immediately above that speed to prevent pitching oscillations.
