  1. You can always start with freeware modeling software, such as Blender, create and export the model into 3ds format. Then have someone with 3dsMax 2009 import the model, and then in turn, have them export it to a LOD format. Cockpits are reportedly much more difficult to create than aircraft models. Just ask Centurion or Stary. BTW, Krizis has both a hi-poly Yak-38 model and cockpit in the works. I have the beta model for the former, as I penned up its flight model for him. Check on the Russian forum, and you'll find the thread on it.
  2. An "A" is always an "A"? Not necessarily true, as there is a 6-3 (hard-winged) winged A-model that occasionally appears at airshows, which I pointed out to Wrench. Rather interesting, actually, as it still has elevators, as opposed to the all-flying tail.
  3. I can attest to the fact that Kevin is extremely detail-oriented, and puts his heart and soul into whichever project he decides to work on. And though he's often working on 3-4 projects at a given time, he still finds, no, scratch that, he makes the time to lend a hand whenever or where ever it's needed. So I take it personally when anyone suggests that he needlessly cuts corners or throws accuracy out the window for expediency's sake.
  4. Pilot error doesn't count. Want some fun? Try this : Get into a steep dive from altitude with a MiG-15 on your tail. Make sure that you're almost vertical, and going at least Mach 0.93. Get below 8000 feet, slam the throttle to idle, and pull up sharply. At least half the time, the KAW MiG-15s won't be able to pull out of the dive, and will auger in.
  5. I meant assigning the missiles air and ground capability....that isn't unprecedented, BTW, several SAM systems were/are touted as being dual purpose.
  6. Just for s**tz n' grinz, you should try giving the mobile SAMs air and ground capability
  7. I know that the Sabre segment of Great Planes dates back to the 1980s....I remember seeing it while on a Winter's vacation in the Florida Keys, circa 1988. Here's another on the MiG-15: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKff4m4pxA8
  8. More videos to whet your appetites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VisiSCvNyY The first video has rare color footage of MiG-15 shootdowns over North Korea.

  10. There are several nesting pairs of Ospreys near my home. The closest, is in the local reservior (Manasquan Reservoir), about 5 km away. I often take walks around the shoreline, and it's not uncommon to see Bald Eagles, Golden Eagles, Perregrine Falcons, and Red Tailed-Hawks along the way.
  11. The first F-86A non-production models had curved windscreens, but evidently, they weren't up to the task. The A-5 (and 6, and 7) variants had reinforced, V-shaped windscreens. The F-86D (Sabre-dog) introduced the flat windscreen.
  12. The first couple of films that I remember him in was "Fail Safe" (1964) and 1965's "In Harm's Way". A short time later, he played astronaut Tony Nelson in the sitcom "I dream of Genie". He was also a Korean war veteran. RIP, Larry.
  13. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
  14. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the real-world handling traits of the F-86 (and its close sibling, the FJ-Fury), watch these two videos. I tried to simulate the performance as closely as I could. There are a few new surprises in store for the next round of Sabre releases.
  15. ECM pods do work in this series. They simply reduce the range at which a SAM radar can acquire and track you. Once you're acquired though, it's usually too late, as you're close enough for the SAM radar to overcome any jamming . The effect is called "burn through".
  16. Sorry, it's just not feasable in this series, unless the developer adds the neccessary coding.
  17. Those are supposedly the correct color for that weapon. In truth, though, the majority of Soviet-Bloc allies used Pink-red tracers on12.7 mm and larger caliber weapons.
  18. The only way for that to work, is to create separate emitters for the left and right wingtips. Then , you need to adjust the left to have a positive emission velocity rate, and the right to have a negative rate. This will (if you balance rate and particle weight) cause them to "curve" inwards. This is the value set that you need to play with: EmissionVelocity=X.0,Y.0,Z.0
  19. It's how pitch/roll/yaw dampening works for the AI in this series. If you set it too high (as some do to compensate for issues in the FM), that's what you get.
  20. It's usually not a good idea to use beta drivers. I recall hosing a windows 98 install that way, and all because I was seeking a few extra frames per second in Falcon 4.
  21. On which aircraft? I do not experience this at all, unless of course you are talking about the F-4, which is correctly modeled so that it rolls with rudder input, and not with the ailerons, at high angles of attack.
  22. Try adding this statement to the gear entries: DeployWithFlaps=TRUE. It's really meant for control surface entries, so I'm not guaranteeing that it'll work in this case.
