One point i very disagree with Israelis (right wing) is the fact how they behave in the occupied areas (West Bank). The settler movement and the permanent new settlments they rais are one of the biggest problems. The settlements are connected with streets. Okay. The streets are for israelis only and are controlled by the israeli Green Barrets (Borderforces). Checkpoints everywhere at crossroads, where israeli streets and arab streets cross. Okay. I can understand it. The rule is, that israeli cars allways have the right of free drive. If a israeli car drives on a road and is closing the crossroad, all arab cars have to stop, till the israeli car has passed the crossroad and is out of range again. Its okay, if you want to make sure the security of the israelis. But some, and i say some, settlers made a sport to drive along their streets over the crossraod checkpoints, turn, come back, turn, come back and again and again and again. With the result, that one israeli car can force hundrets of arab cars to stop and create a traffic jam. And the result. One single settler feels like a god and in hundred arab harts grews the hate.

Syria is the only non religios state in the arab world. True. Its an dictatorship. True. Its an ally of Iran. True. Syrian forces killed their own people. True. But the so called Free Syrian Army did the same. Syria has a majority of sunnite religion, minorities of shiits and alawits. The laters are the rulers of the state. At the beginning of the syrian uprour it was a "cry for freedom". And i all my hopes were with the folks who went to the street to fight for democracy and freedom. But now it is a civil war, a religiuos war between sunit and the shiits and alawits. Sunit states, like Saudi Arabia (a well know centre of democracy and freedom ) supports his religion fellows, while the shiit Iran support the other side. Now it is a war of proxies fight on the back of the sysrian people. Old Napoleon said a unfortunatly true word: "In a revolution are two kinds of people, the one who make the revolution and die and the one who make profit." All western eyes are concentrated on Syria, but what is with the Gulf States. For instance Bahrain. Shiit majority, sunit rulers. The upror of the people was suppressed by Saudi Arabia with more than 70 dead people. No word about it in our press or TV. And to come back to Israel, the starting point of our discussion. Israel has the right to defend.It has the right to protect the israeli people. No question. But the way how Israel do it, makes it difficult for true friends....

A coin has always two sides. A lot of people only can think i black and white schemes. But the world is not only black and white. If Israel is a democracy, than it must understand, that is is compared with other democracies, not with dictatorships or terror organisations. It must be possible to say critical words, and there some Israelis have some mental problems. In their eyes a critical word to Israel is already "Antisemitism". In their eyes all things Israel is doing are correct. All actions are allowed, are good. All critics is bad or stupid. Is this democracy? No. As a friend of Israel i want to say if something is wrong there, whithout become called a "Antisemit". And i also want to say if something is good there. Because the world is not black or white.

Ehm, Colditz castle is at no means a good example for POW camp in Third Reich. In contrary. It was a special camp for western contry officers ( i hope this is the correct english term. At Colditz Castle were french, belgian, dutch and british Officers of higher ranks, no simple soldiers or sergeants). They had a good life there, because it was a "show" camp for the Red Cross. At Colditz castle POW's lived under the conditions of the Convention of Geneva. They had their own theatre and their own cinema. They got packages and letters from their relatives at home via Red Cross. If a POW attempted to runaway and was cateched again, he had not to affraid hard punishment, so that runaway attempts of british and french officers were their "kind of sports". It was a Gentlemens POW camp at Colditz castle. In contrast to the "luxurity life" at Colditz castle over 2 million soviet POW were killed in german POW camps. The conditions for eastern european POW's were very bad. Today Colditz Castle is a museum, i guess its perhaps 60 or 70km from my home. Already to GDR times, at the high tide of cold war, british traveler groups visited Colditz castle and this hasnt changed today.

Es ist nichts drin, was ich nicht unterschreiben würde. Und ich sehe mich als Freund Israels. Was gesagt werden muss „Warum schweige ich, verschweige zu lange, was offensichtlich ist und in Planspielen geübt wurde, an deren Ende als Überlebende wir allenfalls Fußnoten sind. Doch warum untersage ich mir, jenes andere Land beim Namen zu nennen, in dem seit Jahren – wenn auch geheimgehalten – ein wachsend nukleares Potential verfügbar aber außer Kontrolle, weil keiner Prüfung zugänglich ist? Hi folks, when i served out my army time 23 years ago, i was in a helicopter squadron which used the Mi-2. Sometimes our birds were armed with 4 machineguns PKT or two Mars-2 pods. Our pilots were more or less satisfied withe the Mi-2. It was said, that she was a little bit underpowered and underarmed. But i remember that one pilot said (or was it the weapons officer of our base? Its a long time ago!), that in Poland the Mi-2 was used with Maljutka ATGM's and a 23mm gun and that some Mi-2 were use the Strela as air to air missile. It was a rumour, but now i'm curious. Does someone can confirm that the polish forces used Mi-2 with ATGM's, 23mm gun and Strelas? And is the Mi-2 still operational in Poland? Thx Michael (Gepard)

Heute bei Mc Doof. Nicht Mc Drive sondern Mc Ride. Bild ist leider sehr schlecht. War zu weit weg für ein gutes Handyfoto. Das ganze erinnert mich an den Herbst 1989 nach der Grenzöffnung. Ein Kumpel von mir war Grenzer, irgendwo im heutigen MeckPomm. Die Grenze war auf und es gab jeden Tag kilometerlange Staus, weil nahezu jeder aus der DDR den goldenen Westen sehen wollte. Die Staus waren endlos, es dauerte ewig bis die Leute die Grenze passieren konnten. Um dieser Warterei zu entgehen hatte ein Bäuerlein eine tolle Idee. Er schnappte sich seinen Hofzossen, pappte ihm ein DDR Schild an den Hintern und ritt gemütlich am ganzen Stau vorbei zur GÜST (Grenzübergangsstelle). Die Jungs an der GÜST haben nicht schlecht gestaunt als da jemand hoch zu Ross vor ihnen stand. Sie haben ihn auch ohne Probleme passieren lassen, doch trotzdem kam das Bäuerlein nicht weit. Auf westdeutscher Seite hat der BGS die Hände gehoben und ihm die Einreise verwehrt. Grund: Bäuerlein hatte keine amtsärtzliche Bescheinigung für das Pferd. Alternative 14 Tage Quarantäne. Das war dann doch ein wenig zu lang für das Bäuerlein und er ist mit seinem Gaul umgedreht, heimgeritten und hat den Trabi gesattelt. Pech gehabt.
