F-35 Lightning II Add-on
daddyairplanes replied to Menrva's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Hopefully things get better, in the mean time thank you for this and take care of you. mods can wait as for the Florida skin, a mention would have been nice but I am fairly competent at making and releasing mods myself. perhaps next summer can do a ANG pack, adding Florida, Massachuesetts and Oregon- 8 replies

so do several of us but the ones with knowledge of how to set up a campaign dont have as much interest or energy. those with the interest dont have the knowledge or time much of the interest on the fan base tends to Vietnam, WW3 in Germany (or Iceland) and/or WW2. so thats where alot of (current) modder energy goes

Contacting YAP RW team?
daddyairplanes replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
yup sounds about right he was also interested in a bit for fixin Straight of Hormuz, but there wasnt much interest. i took a look at it, and either it would need to be reset to now (mid 2020s) or totally revamped to account for stuff that wasnt in service in mid 2010s (like X-47B, and honestly the F-35s) -
like the overall thinking, but Greece/Turkey vs southern members of the Warpac eventually becomes the big traditional NATO vs Warsaw Pact story. IFit didnt happen immediately, then it would once once side was losing bad enough and called on their superpower patron. theirs been folks that have worked on campaigns for the Kurils and Korea, but then dropped out of touched. for a non traditions (tanks rolling down the Fulda Gap) ww3 scenario, you should cast your eye to Asia. Big enough and important enough to ignite the big blow up, but not in Europe. alternately, the middle east could be another good scenario, especially since it did historically get us close to the edge of nuclear conflict. a campaign that could lead to nuke deployment without ever bringing in the US/USSR in player campaign (just in the win/lose screeen at campaign end) all suggestions presume that you mean ww3 in the classic, ends with thousands of nuke missiles flying. survivors stay tuned to see if its gonna be Mad Max, Fallout or Threads.....

Contacting YAP RW team?
daddyairplanes replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
little late to this party, but yes, Andrea is pretty good about replying quick on FB and messenger. i've gotten permission from him to releae the F-100F here in mods, and help them out with general advice when and where i can -
probably not terrain files. if crashing while a mission is loading, set you sound setting to 16 channel, normal stereo Iraq is the only terrain thats supposed to be there. there are terrain folders for the stock terrains yhou listed, but with an ini thta makes them NOT show up in game. make sure you are running this in a a clean install, that is a exe whose mod folder is empty of other things. its a stand alone mod and doesnt play well with other things if your not a fairly experienced modder.

Kill Insignia
daddyairplanes replied to Lex2Limit's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
they beat me too it personally, i dont use the 3 level on decals. in a wartime situation (non Vietnam) a pilots kills wouldnt be displayed(opsec). in peacetime, the aircraft will carry small kill marks (generally credited to the aircraft, although some ranking officers have their kills painted on "their" aircraft). when i do add kill marks on skins, its a two level (individual serial numbes and nose arts) and based on that birds history. but ww2 or your scenaro in mind could be different. so check decal ini; defineatley stock and possibly some from a mod more in line with what you want -

he decided to defect, after his buddy became shark bait just circled round the airbase, like he was lost -
not sure what youre looking to do here, but if i understand it its 80% ini work is this player flyable? if not then you dont even need a pilot or cockpit. any real current drone isnt going to bother with replacing the canopy and smoothing out (the YQF-144 came that way out of the factory). cheaper to leave the cockpit as is and have cameras/sensors around the airframe. even the seat would be left for balance reasons (easier/cheaper than reworking software or adding new build ballast) the chirps and whistles could be recorded, and added as language in the game. several like Menrva who have worked whole campaigns have added other language packs that translate the basic comms. but again, not needed if its not a player flyable as for name, why not keep what the USAF drone operators call the QF-16s? i will wish you luck on your path. there's alot of folks who just ask for stuff, without anything to offer in return. its nice to see someone who wants to try to learn this gig as more of a skinner, i will concur that the set up will be the longest part of any type of mod you do. for me making a skin, an average time cycle (overly simplified) can be about 50% research, 35% setting up templates, 15% actually making the skins/making small tweeks to the templates do try to look up the basic stuff first, theres tons of things posted previously in forums and the knowledge base. but if youre making an effort, theres plenty that will help you along the way

New SF2 player here – excited to join the community!

welcome to the party! bit of advice, just fo ahead and update to the Jul 2013 patch (little surpised its not already). it should be available on TW site, but if not its available here the bulk of the mods on here for 2nd Gen are set up for it already, so therell be fewer hiccups (unlike the days where we get a patch like every other month, and a day later modders would be bitchin that the new patch broke their mod!)
