Mud Hen in Camo: A One Off, What If skin for the Liberty Wing F-15E
daddyairplanes commented on daddyairplanes's file in F-15
ok gotcha it is a nicer model and im liking the base skin but Karma 52 and the SEA skin were side quests for the summer, my main focus is on Hogs and post Vietnam FACs (O-2s, USAF OV-10s and OA-37Bs). i got them knocked out pretty quick by having my own tweaks on the template for the 2016 pack, and by making the what if skin use historically accurate decals from another one of my packs. as i joked in the WIP thread, i even recycled the title screen shot for that release but i am intrigued, and might revisit the old packs i did with the new model. just keep in mind, its going on a list about 100 projects long.... -

to answer your original question (aaaaaigh Quora's following me here! ), terrain wise, if youre just staying in Germany, Rends Germany terrain is probably the best for flying along the IGB. if your dont mind the Balkans, Menrva's Italy Southern Europe 1993-2003 is an absolute work of art. Dont let the dates throw you, its too easy to adjust the date range on the terrains, mine runs from 1970 through 2040. I love the scenery when testing out a new skin or ini edit (especially since theres s 90% chance the project im working on flew through Aviano in RL) ground objects and aircraft, depends on your tastes. If youre looking at Pershing 2s, im going to guess youre looking NATO or USAF or even USAEUR in the 80s. poke around the download section, make a list

be awfully nice to have some blue force "Scuds"

another one, this time a master class in recycling i figured you'd want a SEA camo'd Mud Hen now that its been done. I've done a correct set of Mud Hen skins for Lakenheath at the time this would have been most viable. soo, reuse one skin, reuse one decal set, and even reuse one screenie for the title shot and here you go

View File Mud Hen in Camo: A One Off, What If skin for the Liberty Wing F-15E Mud Hen in Camo: A what if Skin Shortly after the deployment of the F-15E to the 48th FW at RAF Lakenheath, the CO directed the Strike Eagles to be repainted from the Gunship Grey they were delivered in to a camouflage pattern similar to the recently departed F-111F Aardvarks. A move that potentially save the Colonel's career was to paint the first one as the commanders aircraft of the 3rd Air Force. This led that General to fight for the paint scheme, but Headquarters Air Force finally directed them to cease with the repaints. Still the first dozen aircraft delivered to the 494th Fighter Squadron maintained the SEA jungle theme until the last one went through depot shortly after Operation Allied Force. The 3rd AF marked jet even conducted a few missions over Serbia in March of '99. This mod carries over a camouflage scheme done as a one off. to make the alternate history and the modding easier, it utilizes the same numbers and decals as the historically accurate Liberty Wing '95 494th skin. Included 1 skin for F-15E_92 aircraft thats it. no model, no decals, no effects sounds or weapons Required because of the back story, this mod is set up as a companion to my Liberty Wing 95 mod. The skin in fact utilizes the decals, numbers and decal.ini of the 494th FS skin in that mod, but with a different skin of course. You can get the needed mod here if you don't already have it i hope you enjoy this mod as much as i enjoyed making it Kevin Unruh aka daddyairplanes 24 May 2026 ************************************************************* This is freeware; it CANNOT be distributed unless permissions are granted by myself. 4th FDW F-100C's 1957-1960
daddyairplanes replied to CSomers611's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
you could make them level 2 decals, then have blanks for the ones that dont have. doing it that way, you could have the patch as just the tga and blanks numbered (334thpatch.tga, then 334thpatch008.tga for a blank) or you can number all. theres ups and downs to both methods remember to make the blanks 12px in size to save space -
Time to improve the old SF2 jets

that is wicked the overall effect (a/c, pilot, sky) and you could use screen shots to make your own comic book (or graphic novel as some says these days) -

The Panthers transition from the old SEA scheme to the regulation Gunship Gray took place during the beginning of Allied Force. The 3rd AF marked jet (liked by CINC USAFE and beleived to be the reason the Liberty Wing CO wasnt fired for the unauthorized paint jobs across the 494th) was the last to be repainted (hey, i couldnt just let this camo go for one bird only...)

lookin good that is one of the fun parts of this gig. you could have a perfect matched image, yet still need to tweek it here and there to fit the model
