  1. posting after skimming the topic, so bear with if i miss something you could try getting an Enterprise (theres a few in the internets, try YAP-RW models page) and running in a clean install in 1975 if that works, run single mission in your SF2V Expansion install if that works, edit the campaign to use the Enterprise you picked if your gonna do any modding for SF2, best to keep a clean install (exe) to check things in. clean it out everytime you are satisfied with what youre checking out of curiousty, how is your install? some games (like just SF2Europe and Vietnam), full 5 plus two (all five base games plus the two Thirdwire expansion packs) or the all in one (Thirdwire release from a couple of years ago that has everything TW released over the years for around 100 bucks)?
  2. 1. dont tease. someone will read that and take you seriously 2. i am trying to make a tank sim in UE5 for a class right now. only because i dont think i could get aircraft working by Nov 20th (the due date) but i think it has possibilities. esp using Vigilante's models as a start....
  3. ya know, if you two were to start a Sea Power forum, im sure there'd be some interested parties around here
  4. well not too much a disservice from my point of view, but i would feel weird with an officer rank as a retired mess sergeant, weirder still with AF rank as retired Army plus AF dont have Warrant Officers, which would also fit modders well imho
  5. i was thinking that at first. but officer ranks or enlisted? but for citizen67s suggestions, i suggest using Kelly Johnson for the modders. especially apt for cats like ravenclaw007 and simonmiller416 who are always finding new stuff in SF2, over a dozen years after the last official TW release
  6. easiest way to tell would be to hide the nodes in the LODviewer and see how it looks. if theres a big hole left in the model then not so much. if you got a few wires or things, then you have a few extra parts to ini edit off. my money would be on it being an easy ini edit however ------- enroute to Dallas
  7. all modders shall now be addressed as "my dope ass fresh prince"
  8. We've been bombing cities every day and every night all over the U.S., only people never know it.
  9. Wrench when someone asks if they know a moderator that can approve something me i just gotta hope he's on or pester him on FB
  10. homework prep believe it or not.......
  11. i feel ya but this is ravenclaw we're talking about. heaven has looser tolerances for perfection than he does.
  12. i wish i could tell you. that missile is new enough to have alot of details kinda secret. and with the Secretary of Wine i mean War clamping down on who can talk to who, might be a minute for details that said, i didnt know the new HARM had retractable lugs. my suspicion, as a former support type soldier, is retractable. boost the orders to the company that makes em, and brings the price down buying in bulk. but thats just swag, not official info
  13. switch, not so much. there are bunches of values tied to specific aircraft parts, which iirc might get name changed from one model to another. so straight copy paste doesnt usually work well modify, yes. especially singular aspects (takeoff speed, afterburner percentages). its done all the time as a modder decides this aircraft doesnt behave like they think it should. but again, its usually one or two FM aspects, not the whole thing modify entire thing reliably with intended results? well Harry, thems is dark arts that few here truly understand. its why many versions are kinda copy and pasted (F-16C Block 30, block 40, F-4E and G etc etc) but most people arent like me (or you it seems) and want a realistic pit (a major part of my mods is always the external appearance) its possible, but would take a lot of effort. the most advanced avionics get by default is 1970s, anything more advanced is done with workarounds
  14. you gotta change the years in your option.ini for the instal, in any maps you use in that install. also if you plan on flying past 2020 you often times gotta change the data ini for the aircraft (alot of modders 10-15 years ago set end dates as 2020. who knew we'd still be modding and flying SF2 past then?) but the nice thing is you can make period or region specific installs, like say Balkans 1991 thru 2002
  15. you never saw the stewardess on v2k's IL-76 did you?
  16. nope nice thing about SF2, it supports almost all airborne kinks
  17. well, its good seein ya back in here. in fact i got five words for ya could be worse. try learning it, and knowin just enough to have a glimpse, but not fully understand.
  18. you sir, are prime proof of why i say this sim aint dead yet
  19. welcome to CA not meaning to be rude or a dick, but also thank you for being the first publicly visible trial of the new system. once your 30 days are up im sure you will enjoy it much more (hey, i know watchin aint as fun as playin) alternately, theres no limit on subscription downloads. even the 2 day $6.95 version. so you could make a list, pay the cost of a coffee or lunch, and spend the net 48 hours getting what you want w/o the wait
  20. possible, certainly. we have an F-15SA, which preceded the QA and EX the hard part will be setting up a new pit, and adjusting the avionics for SF2. SF2 doenst like 1990s avionics much (the most advanced bit being teh 70s avionics DLL) let alone 2020s. and theres not to many modelers left to make the new almost all glass cockpit but aircraft model and flight model, it would be no problem to make one. you could do it yourself in fact
  21. its always been wonky. it often works better to search the topic in the wider web, and let Google send you to the page than to use the sites search engine. that said, not sure actually how its been on the new and improved site (old habits and all)
